Jake had worked on this piece of art for quite a time. Carving, smoothing, polishing and loving it. He wasn't one to usually go through such efforts, being a rather boisterous and wild youth, but he had been planning this for a while now. After all, one could be boisterous and wild by starting out with simple efforts to make it more interesting.
He stood back and examined his work. It was a crude, lopsided and rather unseaworthy vessel. He grinned. But he didn't need it to be seaworthy. He just needed it to be pondworthy. And that it was.
He tossed aside the tools of carpentry and grabbed the little log-boat by the bow's towing rope and pulled it out of the shade of the orchard trees and across the lawn, it wasn't heavy, but it was bulky.
When he finally got his boat to the shore of the pond, he found that some other beast were already enjoying the water.
