Erin-a-ceus room must be one the warmest rooms in the whole of Redwall, and that was due to the sheer amount of scrapes of cloth’s and storytelling patchwork quilts hanging on the wall. All but two of the patchwork quilts were the work of Erin-a-ceus. The most precious to Erin-a-ceus was the quilt work by her mother and sister before she was born. Erin-a-ceus gazed at that quilt now; it was not a fancy quilt nor elaborately worked like some of the others that hung on her walls. It was a cot size quilt made with love to be passed to a young daughter about to be born. Erin-a-ceus remember the story her sister had told her as a youngster about the quilt. Her mother had collected very piece of scrap cloth that the neighborss could spare and she sewed at night into a quilt for her child soon to arrive. Her mother was not the best sewer in the world and as her sister Rose-a-ceus had often told her it had been a labour of love. Erin-a-ceus wondered if her mother had known that she would not survive the birth of her youngest daughter.
The second quilt was as different from the first and the day and night. It was a scene of the loveliest part of her former home. There was not apiece of scrap in the quilt, each piece dyed and selected for its role in the quilt. The quilt took up one whole wall in the room and Erin often thought that it should hang on a larger wall, maybe one day she would feel confident effort to ask the Abbesses if it could be hung in the great hall. It was a beautiful sunrise scene showing a crystal clear river with the reflection of the sparkling sun and also the trees on the far bank but it was more then a simple scene. If you were to study the large quilt closely, there were many different things to be found in the scene, some surprising and others wondrous and each good beast found something for them selves. It should not surprise Erin that she could still after years of studying the quilt to find new things hidden with in the scene. It was after all designed and quilted by the famous Joss-e-sue the famous hedgehog seamstress, also Erin’s teacher and close friend.
Erin’s gaze wonder around the room and took in the many shelves holding her many glass jars of sewing necessities, buttons, buckles, cotton, lace (made by Erin) and many other interesting things that the youngster had always love to come and play with. Erin was shy around more then two or three good beast, except for youngsters and the sick. Her gaze wonder over to the several old creates that held Erin's precious collection of scraps of cloths. That reminder her that she had promise to make some new bandages for the infirmary and she set about selecting the most appropriate cloths of width and length.
Erin’s door was open as she worked always interested in making new friends, just not too many at one time.
