Traveling Along the West Coast

[Ltc. Hubert Greenburrow II]

Jylus the pine marten was hobbling along the shore an hour from dawn. Most of the sun was blocked out of the sun and a light mist swathed the land. He tripped on a large shell he failed to see sticking up from the sand. Cursing, the seer regained his balance.

As the pine marten struggled through the wet sand, another pair of eyes watched from behing a slight rise on the beach.

[Rocky]

Rockrudder the Otter was watching Jylus the seer. He was a master of stealth and camoflauge. He kept his body covered in a long cloak and head hidden in the cloak's hood. Only his black eyes were visible. Rockrudder saw Jylus trip over the shell and stifled a laugh. "Ha! That old Pine Marten is very clumsy." he thought.

Rockrudder decided to step out from his hiding place. He pulled two daggers from his belt and hailed Jylus "Oi! What are ya doing around these parts, mate?"

Rockrudder took a step forward toward Jylus.

At the sound of Rockrudder's voice Jylus drew his dagger and looked at him, thinking the otter might cause trouble.

Jylus decided to answer Rockrudder. "Just travelin'. What about you? By the way, I'm Jylus the Outcast Seer."

[Rocky]

Rockrudder took a step forward. "Call me Rocky" Rockrudder put on a friendly smile. "I'm just traveling, too." Rockrudder relaxed a bit but he was still cautious. His eyes were never still. "Are ya one of them vermin types? Or are ya an ally?"

Rockrudder took another step forward.

The pine marten thought if he should tell the otter his story (in my Jylus`s character profile). He eventually decided he would, Rockrudder seemed friendly enough. After Jylus finished his story he concluded, "So I guess it makes me a goodbeast."

[Rocky]

Rockrudder smiled. "That's quite a story ye got there." "Here's mah story" "It all happened when I was an otter cub...."

Rockrudder concluded his story with: "And ah've been searching fer the scum mahself." Rockrudder sheathed his daggers. "I'm plannin on meetin up with some GUOSIM and headin to Redwall abbey." "I'm trying to summon an army to attack the mangy vermins who slew my father and his holt."

Rockrudder stepped to Jylus and held out his paw. "Allys?"

Jylus intently istened to Rockrudder's story. After the otter had finished speaking Jylus replied, "Aye, allies. Redwall's quite a ways from here but I know the way. Though I don't look like a fighter I am rather good with my dagger. Right, let's head out."

[Rocky]

"Aye. I noticed ye were a warrior ever since Ah set eyes on ya. Ye got warrior blood in ye." Rockrudder followed Jylus.

They were traveling for two hours when Rockrudder called a halt. "Oi! Hold up!" He beckoned Jylus over. "Ah think Ah sees the bushes rattling. Ah'm gonna go take a look."
Rockrudder bulled into the bushes. It wasn't soon after when Rockrudder called to Jylus: "Ah! Help! There's more than one of the mangy scum!"

The young seer hurried as quick as his maimed body would let him in the direction Rocky's screams had come from.

When Jylus came behind the bush from the right side he estimated thirty rats with clubs trying to kill his new otter friend. Jylus had the element of surprise son he sneaked up behind one and smashed his walking staff down on his head, slaying the rat instantly. The one next the rat turned around but was too late, his head was cracked by the staff also.

[Rocky]

"Watch yer back, mate!" Rockrudder whipped out one of his daggers.

Zzziiippp

It took a rat who was sneaking up on Jylus through the heart. Rocky whipped out his sword and killed two rats.

Rocky and Jylus were dealing out death wherever their blades and staff hit. Than all of a sudden, a huge rat bigger than the rest walks out.

"What in the name o' Dark Forest..." Jylus spoke out of the side of his mouth to Rocky. "Watch out, this is a tough one."

The huge rat, who had tattoos and earrings to go with a mail tunic and a giant whip and shield, spoke in a deep, surly, enraged voice. "My rats, you have killed them! It is death to you! Death!"

He cracked his whip at Jylus's chest. He screamed aloud in pain at the horrible pain. The rat went for Rockrudder but Jylus lunged his staff in front of the otter and the whip wrapped around it. Jylus yanked the staff towards him, making the rat stumble. Jylus, used to walking with his staff, also started losing his balance. He struggled to grab the whip and as he fell hes shouted to Rocky, "Get 'him from behind while I distract him!"

[Rocky]

The big rat was trying to get hold of Jylus. Rockrudder whipped out two daggers and threw them. one struck deep but the other just grazed the rat's arm. The rat grunted and pulled the dagger out. He was going to throw it at Rocky but Rocky was quicker. He ran with his sword and struck true. The rat fell down. Dead.

"You OK, mate?" "I think yon big rat was their leader." The rest of the rats scattered. Rocky picked up his daggers and sheathed his sword. "Ya hurt, mate?"

Jylus gathered his staff and sheathed his dagger. After Rock had spoken, Jylus replied, "Ah, I have had worse, believe me. Well, good teamwork; we showed those rats a thing or two. I could've done a lot better if I wasn't maimed." Jylus had a very sad look in his eyes. The sad look turned to an enraged look and then he spoke to Rockrudder again. "All right, Rocky let's get movin."
