This is a bios-thread about the Redglade-Tribe. The Redglade Tribe is created by me, Caterpillar, and for now it's only allowed to be used in Cavern Crew related story-threads. Besides of that, everyone is free to use tribe's name or its troops as they please in their RPing. If there is something you want to ask about them, pleaswe PM me ^^
REDGLADE
INTRODUCTION:
In unwelcoming Northen Lands each vermin tribe struggling to survive as best as they can. And that mainly involved attacking the travelers, raiding small communities of goodbeasts, stealing everything they could and destroying the rest. And they aren't above of raiding camps of their own kind so therefore different tribes, gangs and clans are pretty much hostile towards each others. Strong prey on the weak, as always. And every vermin-clan wants to be the strongest.
One of the biggest vermin tribes is Redglade. Their prosperity over other factions is thanks to their cunning leader, but also thanks to their stronghold, that was particularly impossible other clans to invade. Their leader is an albino weasel Vermilion.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRIBE :
Clan's vermin paint their fur with red marks and usually wear something red in their clothing. Tribe doesn't have any banner as the color of red is their banner: wearing it declares them to be part of Redglade.
They also wear trophies made from their fallen enemies: teeth, claws, hides, bones, skulls, ears... It can be practically anything.
Even though Redglade is referred as a tribe - and they do have some barbaric traits - they aren't just some primitive hordebeast with loincloths and stone-made-weapons. They have armors, steel weapons and army-like hierarchy.
Tribe-beasts are fierce fighter and many Redglader wants to prove himself to be a worthy warrior in the tribe's name. The strength and the skills win your opponent is revered among the tribe and so the strongest fighters are naturally highly respected.
In North Lands many tribes have seer or soothsayer and Redglade isn't an exception. The Seer is someone who's isn't necessarily strong fighter, but he/she is honored nevertheless as he/she posses a blessed Insight see the future. The Seer's job is tell the fortunes and warn the tribe-leader if tribe is in course to face disaster. He/ she also performs the Sending-ritual for the dead. Seers are respected but also feared for their mystic gifts.
Redglades have slaves, working on the mining inside the mountain. The ore is used in Tribe's purposes and part of it is sold to the vermin mercenaries.
NOTHINGNESS:
According to Redgladers spiritual beliefs, every beast vanishes when they die. There is now second life, no Dark Forest: when spirit leaves its material shell, it will dissolve into the Nothingness. All you get is this one live so you better enjoy it in its fullest.
Some view the disappearing into the Nothingness as a dismal destiny. So they hope to accomplish something great in their live, so that their names and fames would life in stories and songs. That way, part of them will keep continue the existence and they won't vanish entirely. Just remembering the name of the warrior will ensure
Tribe-beast also believe that spirit - or parts of it - can be bound in this world by other means. This way spirit can continue its existence and it won't cease to be. This is the reason Redglades take body-parts from their friends and family members: to ensure they don't vanish completely and will continue their existence among them. In return the spirit's strength, wisdom, skills or any other attributes, will become part of the trophy's wearer. That's the reason why warriors take bits of the enemies they have defeated: to make fallen foe's strength part of theirs.
Many would think it's disgusting to wear cut parts of the dead but Redglades view it act of reverence. They honor their challenger so much they have decided grand him a honor become part them and continue their existence with them.
FANGFORT
Redgaled's stronghold is called the Fangfort. Vermilion found it back the days when Redglade was just a small wandering group of bandits. Now, in safety of their lair the group had grown into a size of small army.
The name of the stronghold is well-earned: the entrance to the hideout is mouth of cavern, guarded by stalagmites. Those sharp, pointy boulders rise from the ground and hang from the ceiling so the walking through the entrance is like entering into open mouth of giant stone-beast. Those stalagmites offer good hiding places and lookout-spots for Redglade's guards, so no-one can leave or enter the fortress without being seen.
Inside the cave many camp fires and torches lit up the darkness, making it easy to see without trouble. The soil in the massive cave was smooth white sand and many tents had been built upon it. But what made Fangfort the most special, was the small town carved right into the cavern's rocky surface. Some were like small square-shaped cottages with doorways and small windows, piling up on each other forming a huge, angular fortress. Some were only tunnels that kept going and going into depths of stone with twists and turns and side-paths that easily lead beast astray.
