Character Application for Baro Ermilo
Baro Ermilo
Gender: male
Age:22
Species: Fox
Occupation: Thief, Pickpocket, Vagabond
Physical Appearance:
General:
The fox you see before you is about average height for a member of his species, neither tall nor short for a European vulpine. He is a young canine in his early twenties with large Golden eyes resting on top of his short whiskered snout. The head fur between his large pointed ears is short and scruffy.
For the most part the vulpine is covered in a light brown color with a few exceptions. The fur of his paws are dark red up to his wrists and ankles. The tips of his ears and his long flowing fluffy tail are black. A light colored yellow starts at the fox's chin, the bottom of his snout, and works is way down his neck, across the expanse of his chest and stomach and branches out into his under arms and inner legs.
Health:
This young fox is in the prime of his youth and at first glance, has some meat to his bones. His arms have very little muscle tone and his paws are free from the usual signs of a life of labor. There is a noticeable layer of fat on his Baro's body accumulating most around the creatures guts and waist line. Over all Baro has a fleshy, out of shape appearance but is far from being obese.
Clothing:
The fox wears clothing befitting a poor traveler. He wears a short sleeved vest. It is made of cloth and dyed red. It is torn in places and frayed at the edge. If there were buttons to the vest they have long fallen off, leaving the fox's chest and belly exposed to the elements...for better or for worse.
His waist is adorned by a pair of soft tan trousers. Like the vest they have been put through some wear and tear. The knee on the right leg is missing, and they are frayed a the edges. They reach the fox's ankles and are loosely held up by a dirty white cloth belt. It has no buckle, simply being tied in a knot.
Resting side ways above his tail is the hilt of a small knife attatched to the cloth belt.
Possessions: Baro has few possessions. A simple money back and a small knife with a curved blade and leather handle.
Personality:
People call Baro an untrustworthy sort, but that isn't quite true. You can trust Baro to always make a snidee remark at exactly the wrong time, gluttonize to the point of putting even hares to shame, and you can trust him to always make off with your share of the gold. Maybe not the best things to be trusted for but hey, why is violating our sense of morals Baro's problem?
Baro is a scavanger to the heart. He does not like to be tied down to one place for too long and is often seen on the move. While most of his income comes fro pick pocketing ad out right theivery Baro will on occasion stoop to working an honest job at least until he is on his feet again...or his employers find out he has been stealing from them.
At the same time Baro doesn't like to be alone. He likes companions to share his wit and jokes with and will often be seen talking even to himself when none can be found.
Baro does have a slight addiction to eating which has often led him into trouble, and trouble keeping his waist line trim.
Dispite his occupation Baro conducts himself pleasently, always looking to be on the good side of those he meets even though his loud mouth and antics will put him often out of favor with those he meets, making the few friendships he has to be all the more precious to him.
But in the end Baro IS a bandit, thief and scoundral. He wouldn't consider himself evil, he does try to avoid fighting when possible, prefuring to talk his way out of most problems or make a quick retreat when things get dangerous, the fleshy vulpine is however willing to rob and steal from just about anyone and when push comes to shove he will hold no regrets about leaving even his closest friends behind to save his own hide.
Like any beast Baro has dreams and goles; he wants to see the world, live in the lap of luxery, maybe raise a family some day, but the fox lack the ambition to actually achieve them. So much of Baro's life has been spent drifting from one vilage to the next in search of odd jobs or easy targets to rob to keep himself afloat.
Strengths:
Charm: Baro has an outgoing attitude that usually puts other at ease.
Wits: Baro is far from a deep thinker but he is quick to adapt to the situations that come up.
Fast reflexes: For such a tubby fox Baro can move quickly when needed, espcially to save his own hide.
Weaknesses:
Gluttonous: The fox likes to eat! If Baro isn't making light hearted jokes and stealing coin purses he is usually seen belly up with food at the local tavern.
Thief: Absolute refusal to make an honest living has put Baro on the wrong side of the law more than once.
Loud mouth: Baro has a tendency to say exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong moment.
Lazy: The fox works hard at avoiding work.
Coward: Don't expect Baro to always stand his ground in a fight.
Fear of birds and snakes: Since the vast majority of his family have met their end in the bellies of one of these species or another he is completely justified to freaking out around them.
History:
The life of a traveling thief isn't as exciting as one would imagine. Baro was born to a large litter of foxes. Being poor surfs his family lived in a small unnamed vermin settlement and preformed a wide range of jobs ranging from wood cutting, to cooking, to sewing.
Baro however found it easier to simply take what was needed rather than work for it, and often got more for it in the process. By the time Baro reached his teens he was in and out of trouble for thievery.
By the time Baro was in his teens most of his family had met a grizzly end.
At age eight Baro's father was carried off by an eagle while walking home from the tavern, leaving his mother to care for eight kits by herself. The vixen did the best that she could but even so by age 12 the vast majority of Baro's family became invovled on the wrong side of the law, Baro included.
Baro started his career as a small time pickpocket. Over the years he has kept up his craft and expanded into other forms of theivery, occaionally pairing up with other theives and even bandits.
The fox is far from a professional thief but his wit and gile combined with half his life dedicated to his trade has made him a very proficient thief.
Relationships: Baro has very few friends that he has not stabbed in the back in one degree or another. He does how ever have a brother and sister.
Vincent Ermilo: a grey furred fox archer and known bandit
Kacy Ermilo: a red furred vixen who followed her older brother into a life of crime.
Other: Baro's description is effected by ic events. Expect it to change every few weeks based on what happens to him, scars, injuries, new clothes, changes in his weight etc etc.
