Rex couldn't contain his laughter. He let out a deep laugh as he watched everything unfold, though, he felt a little bad after it all ended.
He wiped a tear from his eye and joined in on the concern. "Yeah, you alright matey? I 'ope it wasn't too 'ot, don't wanna kill yer taste buds or anythin' else fer that matter." He said with a concerned tone of voice.
Rex scoffed the rest of the bowl and filled himself another, downing the next bowl. He let out a loud belch and excused himself afterwards. Manners are important after all, especially during meal time.
"So, lads, what were you two up t'? Think you can let an older beast join you on yer journeys?"

Jellal took a minute to catch his breath first before answering both of them. "First, that was really, really spicy. Second, I'm fine Inktail, so don't worry too much. Third, not much really Rex, just traveling,"And trying to stay hidden from a certain wildcat," your welcome to join if you want." Jellal says finally and takes in a breath from talking so long.
He soon got up. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to be going through my bag and take stock." He says before grabbing his bag and heading off to a secluded spot in the camp. He set his bag down and took out a few things and dried them off slightly.

Inktail grinned once he heard his friend was well, and at the prospect of Rex travelling with them, when they do travel.
"Heh well now we know a way ta get ya outta here without needing to risk harm, stuff some 'otroot inta whatever yer eatin." with a chuckle he turns to face Rex
"It's a sure thing, this was kind of our destination fer now, just a precaution, no real plans so yer more than welcome ta join us so long as ye can keep up with to youngbeasts such as ourselves." Sure Rex is not that much older than they are but Inktail really can't help himself, there's no malice in his voice just a light playful tease.

"Oh that would be great. I should git t' work on buildin' a boat or raft. Any travelin' we do, we should go by water. Less chances of bein' tracked by any country side vermin, plus it's three times as fast." Rex said, standing up and stretching his powerful limbs.
He turned his head and heard the cheeky remark from Inktail. The large Otter smiled happily. "Keep up? Of course I can you little soggy-furred rip. I don't lift an' build 'eavy wooden materials fer nothin' I'm always on th' road fer work. I'd be worried if you two couldn't keep up with me!" He said with a big wink and chuckle. He liked the pair greatly and figured they would make excellent travel companions.

Jellal took out a rolled up bag and laid it out, revealing only to him lockpicks of different sizes. He then took out a practice lock he always brought with him, knowing it helped calmed him down. The practice lock brought back memories of his time with his foster father Garrus. He first gave him the lock as a small joke, knowing it was based on a master level lock, and thought he wouldn't be able to unlock it on the first try. About 6 seconds later, jellal gave back the lock to a surprised Garrus, who saw he unlocked it on the first try. He never forgot the funny face Garrus made from his surprise.
It made him smile slightly as he proceeded to unlocking it. He picked up a pick that was the right size and inserted it into the lock. He twisted it at first to find the right unlock point. Then he heard the slight click, which meant he found it. He then took a different pick and put it into the lock as well.

Inktail seemed to be surprised by Rex managing a response in such a timely fashion but soon was grinning ear to ear.
"Heheh, me need ta keep up with you, that's a good one greywhiskers. Hmm, not sure about a boat mate," He looks over his shoulder to see that Jellal is out of earshot.
"Look, I'm not sure I should tell ye much, but me mate Jellal over there, he's not had much luck with water. I'll leave it at that, if'n ye want ta know the full story I'd ask him." Perking up almost immediately after that Inktail attempts to give Rex a good clap on the shoulder, if he can reach it, if not he'll aim as close as he can manage,
"I look forward ta traveling with ye Rex."

"'Ey, don't let this scruffy beard o' mine fool ya." Rex said as he scratched at his 5 o clock shadow scruff with a smile. I listened to Inktail while he noticed Jellal checking his bag and playing with what seemed to be a lock.
"Ah I see, well if we really need t' travel by water, then we will. Since it's not really necessary yet, we'd be fine on land fer now." He felt the clap on his broad shoulder and he gave a light tap on Inktail's head in return. "Guess we should rest up 'ere until we're ready t' git on with our travels. I expect nothin' more than a good adventure!" The large Otter stated with great enthusiasm.
He pulled out a piece of barkcloth and unsheathed his middle length sword. Rex started to polish the blade edges, getting it ready for another journey.

He soon heard the click of the lock unlocking. Then he put his lockpicks away, rolled up the bag, and put it away into his backpack. He then locked the practice lock and put it away into a pocket. He then got out a small wooden box. He unlocked it and started working on something out of eyesight and earshot of Rex and Inktail.
"Just a little here....then ground this a bit more." Jellal says to himself as he kept working on his small project. Sometime later...he finally finished what he was doing. He wiped off some sweat on his brow. "Finally done. Making these never get any easier." He says before packing up.

Inktail watched with interest as Rex drew the blade, stepping back a little out of habit.
"Quite the blade ye got there, somethin' tells me that's no carpaintry tool mate. Remind me not ta call ye greywhiskers too often eh?"
His thoughts went back to his simple ash stave, sure he'd learned a few tricks for defending himself with it, but seeing the way Rex was treating his blade he could tell Rex was a more than a bit familiar with fighting off foebeasts. Acting on an odd impulse, Inktail went and picked up the staff he'd used as a walking stick and weapon for the past few years, and just looked it over.
"A good adventure ye say, sounds like an idea if'n ye ask me."

Rex stopped polishing his weapon and started to twirl the blade in a quick blur with a roll of his wrist. He flexed his powerful arm, muscles fully buldging, while swinging the blade downwards. It exploded through the log he was sitting on, slicing deep into the wood. Rex just smiled followed by a chuckle from Inktail's comment.
"Funny thing 'bout this, matey, I never planned on becoming a warrior of any kind. I spent my time readin' Abbey blue prints, learnin' 'ow t' create things with wood, an' learnin' 'ow t' build 'omes an' ships from th' ages of twelve to sixteen." The large Otter said before pulling out his blade from being lodged deep into the wood. After, he continued to speak. "Then from sixteen t' twenty I figured I 'ad t' learn 'ow t' fight an' use a sword properly if I wanted to survive on my travels. I started off tall an' pretty slim, but I continued to' build things, carry 'eavy objects, an' train! Eventually I became larger than any Otter I've ever seen an' was travelin' the rest of my life. I visit Redwall every few seasons though." After Rex finished, he sheathed his jeweled blade back into his hip scabbard.
"Oh? You fight with a staff? It's nice t' see some diversity! I 'ave a close friend, a squirrel, who's a stave fighter. Big beast fer bein' a squirrel. All 'e does is train paw t' paw, trains in wrestlin', an' with staves. You'd git a long great with 'im"

Jellal just witnessed the log they were sitting on get sliced by Rex's sword. Impressive hilt, fine blade, and tempting him to steal it. He shook his head quickly. He must not be tempted to steal it. Seriously, he just saw a log get chopped up by it, and hes getting tempted to steal it now. Terrific, just terrific, the weakness and bane of all thieves, greed and temptation.
He of course has his own weapon of choice, which isn't exactly much. It was just a dagger for only self defense, and a few other things as well. Without meaning to, he sneaked behind the both of them. He grinned slightly as he tapped Inktail's shoulder slightly and hid quickly.

Inktail took in Rex's words, nodding as he thought about what he said.
"I know whatcha mean Rex, never really did much learnin' ta fight until I knew I'd need ta do so. I mean, I learned a bit before I decided ta take a different way of doing things from th' others. After that choice was made, I just focused on fishing, keeping in practice with a few things I'd learned to defend meself. 'Aven't needed ta do so too often, been lucky like that."
As Rex described his friend to Inktail the weasel agains paused and thought just before speaking.
"If he's as willing ta look past things as ye, than yer probably right. I'd be happy ta meet 'im sometime, though I fear I'd not be much of a wrestlin' partner, or training much in general." Small for a weasel Inktail was fairly sure that a big strong squirrel could likely find a way to tie him in a knot or two.
Feeling the tap on his shoulder, he looked over it, saw nothing and turned around.
"Oy, who was that?"

"I'm glad t' see that you can relate! Now I see. I couldn't put my paw on it before, but you 'ave similar mannerisms as I do. Plus, you like 'otroot! I feel like you only been 'round Otter's yer whole life. You act very similar to the skipper 'olt o' Otters." Rex said with a smile, he wasn't sure if Inktail was raised by Otters, but he sure knew he hung out with them, mostly.
He heard his next statement and frowned slightly. "Lucky beast, not needing to fight so much. I've killed so many vermin with my blade an' my bare paws out o' defense that it doesn't even bother me anymore. Death is a cruel punishment fer any beast. I'm not too proud of 'ow ruthless I become in battle, but I am thankful fer it. My anger and ruthlesness in battle saved my tail an' all my campanion's tails many a time" He said before giving off a smile again.
"Yeah! 'E'd git you into good fightin' shape thats fer sure. 'E trains others in th' ways of boxin', wrestlin', an' stave fightin'. Like a self defense teacher of th' Abbey!" Rex said trailing off slightly.
He piped back up remembering his last words. "If'n you or Jellal want t' 'ear a story later, I'd be 'appy t'! I fought a giant adder once two years back. 'Ardest fight o' me life; almost died I did. I can tell it durin' the travels to pass th' time." As soon as he finished he noticed Inktail looking behind. Hmmm!..

Jellal was grinning to himself as Inktail reacted to the tap on the shoulder. He knew he was being slightly mean, but...it was just a slight joke. He slowly moved so he was behind the both of them and got ready. Best joke ever.
He popped up and put one paw on both their shoulders. "So! We got a traveling companion then?" Jellal says happily. Grinning slightly as he waited for a reaction from either of them, Inktail mostly. Just a joke, nothing wrong there.

Inktail listened to Rex's words, he's about to reply to him when suddenly, Jellal jumps them. Yelping a bit more loudly then he would have liked, Inktail stumbles and glares at Jellal before chuckling and grinning widely.
"Aye, that we do mate. Rex 'ere 'as volunteered to travel with us." Smiling he remembers what he was going to say to Rex, he turns to look at the otter.
"Aye, it'd make sens I remind ye of them, I wasn't raised by 'em but I owe the skipper's 'olt a lot, probably my life even. It's a bit of a long story, but the short way ta say it is that my ol' tribe was a bit of a nuisance around tha river. I was still young when one day we were attacked by Otters, th' skipper's 'olt, I wasn't ta be in the fighten' but a stray slingstone winged outta th' fray and cracked me about here" he places a paw on his right shin, near the footpaw,
"I was down, after th' fight an Otter treated me. I stuck with them, fer a while, learning some basics about fishing, swimming, tha's where I picked up th' accent. Been a friend to any otter I meet since then." He nods at the thought of training with this squirrel.
"Hmm, I'd like ta learn a little boxin' met a hare once who boxed, nearly took me teeth out."

"You bet yer tail you 'ave a new travelin' companion Jellal!" Rex said smiling. "It'll be a good adventure, I promise ya both."
Rex looked to Inktail as the Weasel spoke his story to the larger beast. It made him proud to hear how he was saved by an Otter. "Aye, it all makes sense now! Glad to 'ear the story mate, I understand completely now."
"OH yes. Good ol' Ollie will teach you 'ow t' throw a proper punch." Rex said before wincing at the next comment. "Ouch, that probably didn't feel to good gettin' bopped by a fightin' 'are. They definitely will 'elp you lose some teeth, then some lunch after scoffing it all!"

"Good ol'...Ollie? Who's Ollie if you don't mid me asking." He asked Rex politely. He asked because he didn't hear much of the conversation that was going on between Rex and Inktail. This...Ollie though, sounds like a interesting beast. This Ollie is also a boxer to....interesting as well.
Then he remembered about something else he heard while in the port town the ship he was on landed at. It was about a place called...Redwall Abbey. The bane of all warlords from what he heard about it. "Hey Rex....have you heard a place called Redwall Abbey?" he asked the big otter.

Inktail winced at the memory of the punch, rubbing his jaw subconsciously. Chuckling a bit as he thought of what happened after.
"Aye, first time I met a hare, made th' mistake o' inviting him ta supper, I had ta fish for 3 days straight ta make up fer what he ate that night. Though he tol' me he's putting out word there's" Inktail draws himself up and takes a breath "A jolly good weaselly sort of not quite vermin chap, near by that blinkin' great river in the woods." Here he stops and chuckles at his own impression.
He smiles as he sits quietly after Jellal askes his questions, wondering what his friend could be pondering.

"Ah, yes, Ollie. Big squirrel fighter. All four paws wrapped tight with bandages; 'es more of a kick boxin' type, but also a champion wrestler. You could say that kickin', punchin', an' tossing beasts are 'is specialties. Oliver's been trainin' in th' ways of staff fighting and paw to paw combat since 'e was sixteen." He smiled at the thought of his young friend training like always before continuing on.
"That overgrown squirrel is not too much older than you two, maybe four, or five years older. I fought a long side 'im plenty of times. 'Is only problem is that 'e's cursed with th' bloodwrath. A high degree of bloodwrath no less. Creature goes from 'umble an' friendly to a pure killer. Seen it with me own eyes, 'e punched a Rat's face so much that after th' creature died, 'e kept on punching th' mangled mess. Many a foe 'as fallen victim to 'is badger style bloodwrath." Rex said, finishing off the little bit of information about his friend.
Rex listened to Inktail when he was finished and laughed heartily. "Them cheeky 'ares will do anythin' fer a bite to eat. Even after they sparred with ya. No less put a good word out fer ya!"
The large Otter heard Jellal's next question and smiled happily before replying. "'Eard of it matey?! Yer talkin' to a beast who was born in that very Abbey!"

Yeesh, maybe a bit too much information about this Oliver. Though this information might come in handy later. Thats if he ever meets this overgrown squirrel. A kick boxer though, quite interesting. Back on the island, he was taught a bit of paw-to-paw combat for self defense.
Then he heard Rex say he was born there made him almost smile. Just perfect, just absolutely perfect! Who better to talk about about this Redwall Abbey then a beast whose actually lived there. "Very nice. Whats it like living there...at Redwall Abbey Rex?" Jellal asked Rex politely.
