Vermin closed all around the young squirrelmaid, her kin in a tight circle, one of which was the squirrel queen, and her mother. Wounds and blood covered the small band of squirrels who had been traveling... The circle tightened as the rats, ferrits, and other vermin closed in, then she felt strong paws lifting her up, throwing her over the heads of the vermin, landing lightly on her paws.
"Run Naomi, run!"
The black squirrel let out a chocked sob, running from the throng, running until she felt her lungs were to burst. The large red sandstone walls towered over her as she ran to the north gate. Tiny paws pounded, wounds oozing blood.
"Let me in, please! Help my family!"
She turned her head to see a band of the vermin approaching fast, and one hurled a javeline, which pierced her footpaw. A scream was emitted from her maw as she took it and threw it with all her tiny might, hearing the satisfying thud as she turned once again to the gate. Then darkness...
Mara awoke in a cold sweat from the nightmare, the one that haunted her ever since she joined the abby. She had woken up in the infermery after that, bandages everywhere from the many wounds inflicted to her black pelt. Her old name rang in her head, Naomi, she couldn't go by that anymore......She was too bitter to be called such a delicate name. A name that meant Happy.
She became this way when she was finally able to leave the abby, and she limped rapidly to the spot her family had been, seeing their corpses. She was only 8 seasons old at that time, and she decided to call herself Mara......bitter......for bitter she was. She helped the abby dwellers to put her family to rest.
Mara rubbed her eyes with the back of a black paw, her arms and body etched with silver scars from that day. She looked around the dorm, she had stayed here with the other squirrels for the night. The young squirrelmaid put on her white robe and looked around for any signs of life in this early morn. Bushy black tail curled lazily behind her as she moved slowly towards the window, stretching her strong arms. The squirrel maid walked with a slight limp from when the javelin had pierced her footpaw.

A whistle came from a happy looking fox. He was about as tall as the doorways were high and he only had to duck a little bit to get through. He wore a black vest that he had custom tailored so it went to his knees. On top of that at his waist he wore a black belt that carried his two daggers, and a katana on his right hand side which he kept on him at all times. He also carried another katana on his back in a back-belt. On both swords blades his first name was indented into them. At the base of his tail, was a gauntlet, and that had his middle name. And finally, he had a necklace that had his last name in it. All of these are made of gold and have some emeralds put into them, the same colour as his eyes. His fur was a rusty orange and he kept very good care of it, to the point it shimmered in the faintest light. Right now, he was just walking the halls of the Abbey, trying to see if there was anything he could help with.
As he walk walking through the halls of the upper levels, near the dorms, he heard some rustling. He checked out a near window and frowned. It was about midday according to the sun -as it was near the middle of the sky- and most every beast should either be in the kitchens helping with dinner, or outside where most of the others were. He himself didn't even know why he was up here, since there was supposed to be nobody up here. He peered into a couple of doorways, his fox senses not picking anything up in them. As he walked farther down the hall, the sound became louder.
At last, he came to one of the doors near the end of the hall. He pushed it open quietly, peering in with his muzzle. He caught scent of a beast he hadn't smelt before, so he pushed the door open wider. He looked to the window, and furrowed his brows at what he saw. A black squirrelmaid stood before him, and she looked like she bad been in an epic battle of some sort. He poked his index paw-digits together and looked up to. He coughed quietly as to make his presence known in case she hadn't noticed him, and gave a small smile.
"Not one for a sunny day, I suppose, ma'am?"

The sound of some beast whistling hit Mara's auds, though she didn't move from looking out the window. Dibbuns played outside, she heard their giggles ringing up through the window. The door creaked open, and she whirled around, tunic flowing out slightly, teeth slightly bared. There before her was a fox.........
What was a fox doing in the Abbey? She was about to unsheathe her weapon, but then he spoke, and she kept her paw on the hilt of the sword. He smiled......
"Not one for a sunny day, I suppose, ma'am?"
Not particularily fox
Amber eyes narrowed slightly. Maybe if he was in here, he wasn't that bad, but one thing she learned from being attacked is, Never trust vermin. She was sure that he could hear the scorn in her voice, though, it was not as bad as she could do.
I be Mara, who be you?
She decided to stretch her paw out to him, silvery scars etched on the back.
OOC-lol, she's just like that, nothing against ur foxy dude.

Wynn took a step back, holding his paws up as if admitting defeat. "Whoah there, squirrely! No need fer swords 'n' stuff!I'm a goodbeast! And don't say 'fox' like that! There's good ones of us out there. Me for example!" He chuckled and gave a toothy smile. He walked around and stopped when he saw that the squirrel, Mara apparently, outstretched her paw. He took it and flipped it over so he could look at the back of it. He narrowed his eyes and shook it lightly, before taking his own paw back.
he looked back up to Mara's face and smiled, one of comfot and reassurance this time. "I'm Wynn Simorgh. And there's no need to worry of me being a vermin. I actually hunt them." He winked and laughed slightly, trying to brighten the mood. He walked up to the window and looked outside, feeling a slight jealousy towards the Dibbuns. 'They have such an easy life...' He thought to himself. He gave a sigh before he turned around, and hopped up to it on the windowsill. That meant that his back was out in the open air, and this caused a few yells from some old beast on the ground floor. He just ignored them, though.

Mara watched with a slight, smug satisfaction that he backed up from her momentarily. Though once he talked, felt slightly, very slightly sorry for him.
"Whoah there, squirrely! No need fer swords 'n' stuff!I'm a goodbeast! And don't say 'fox' like that! There's good ones of us out there. Me for example!"
Well, there may be good uns, but I still don't trust em. Youm being the only 'ception of course.
She didn't think she'd ever trust a fox still though, but maybe this one wasn't to bad? He shook her hand though after looking at the web of silver on the back.
"I'm Wynn Simorgh. And there's no need to worry of me being a vermin. I actually hunt them."
She bared her teeth. Vermin don't belong on this earth, it be good youm fight them.
She saw him go to the window, sitting with his back hanging out. The sounds of Dibbuns still reached her auds. She was never really a dibbun, in the sense of the carefree life these uns had. Roaming, and loosing her family and friends so young took that from her.

Wynn gave a toothy grin and scratched the back of his neck. "Well then! It'll be good to know I'm on your 'Good Fox' list then, won't it?" He chuckled and nodded slowly. He swung his legs casually and listened to what she had to say about him and the vermin. "The only reason I do this is because they destroyed my family. I don't really care about other beast's matters with them." He brought a paw to his muzzle and casually started to chew on a claw. "And I don't care if you like me, hate me, or fall head over heels, I only care about meself." He spat out a dead claw bit and looked to her. "And if your problem is big enough with me to the point of death, I will defend myself to your death." He narrowed his eyes, but then chuckled. "Now that all that mopy stuff is gone, what're you doing in here? You look like you've gotten yourself in a suicide mission!"

Well then, It'd seem we have something in common there.
Mara listened ever more to what he said next, hearing the lift of the challenge.
"And I don't care if you like me, hate me, or fall head over heels, I only care about meself. And if your problem is big enough with me to the point of death, I will defend myself to your death."
I never said I'd fight ya mate, but don't worry, I'd rise to the challenge if need be.
Mara NEVER passed up on a challenge.
"Now that all that mopy stuff is gone, what're you doing in here? You look like you've gotten yourself in a suicide mission!"
I'm here because I can't be no where else. This be where we squirrels have come to rest, as I commanded. Didn't y'all know? I be squirrel queen. Suicide mission? Naw, just some vermin. Think I look bad? Ya shoulda seen them!

The fox's eyebrows rose and he smiled kindly. "Never pass up a challenge, eh? Well then I'll keep that in mind!" He chuckled and swung his footpaws some more looking over his shoulder to the ground below... way below.
Didn't y'all know? I be squirrel queen.
The fox turned quickly, falling out of the window. Luckily, his legs hitched into the sill and he looked below to the ground, takking a rather large breath of air and gulp of saliva. Slowly pulling himself up, he looked around wide eyed and smacked his forhead. "Whoah! Life er death experience right there!" He chuckled and jumped to the ground. Standing straight, he held an arm in front of his waist, and one above his tail base and gauntlet around it. Bowing, he looked to her. "It's my pleasure, your... Highness?" He shrugged, took one of her paws, and kissed the back of it before straightening himself out again.

Mara WAS warming up to this here fox. At least he be kindly.
"Never pass up a challenge, eh? Well then I'll keep that in mind!"
She LOVED his reaction to her saying her ranking to him. It just made her smile. She leapt forwards ever so slightly when he fell from the window, but he got back ok, so Mara just backed up.
"Whoah! Life er death experience right there!"
I bet, youm aint like a squirrel, born with natural grace and poise in that sort of situation.
He bowed low, and........ugh, kissed her paw. She hated when beasts did that, made her feel......to......Oh, she doesn't know......just......old. She be only 17 seasons, pretty young for a queen.
"It's my pleasure, your... Highness?"
None of that now, Mara suited me just fine before, Mara will suit me still.
She whiped her paw on the back of her white tunic.
