Name: Ferdy Ambrose Spike Gender: Male Age: 22 Years Species: Hedgehog! Occupation: Cellarhog
Physical Appearance: Ferdy is a typical hedgehog. He has dark brown quills with a creamy underbelly. He is short and powerful. He is usually found wearing the traditional green habit of a redwall brother. Of course his has been modified to allow his spikes to come through. He has dark brown eyes that are very circular and closer to each other than normal. He has one scar on his arm where he cut himself on an oak cask he was making.
Possessions: Ferdy doesn't concern himself with possessions too much. He carries candied chestnuts in his pockets. He claims they are for the dibbuns, but he can be found munching on them most of the time. He has a walking stick that he is very fond of, and it is never too far away.
Personality: Like most hogs, Ferdy is very down to earth and simple. He is easy going and makes friends easily. He is at home in both the cellars byhimself and out in the orchard surrounded by other creatures. He is a very talkative hedgehog and will sometimes overstep himself, especially around the abbott.
Strengths: Gardening- He has a love for growing things and they seem to love him back by always growing quickly and verdently; Brewing- He learned this skill from his father and carried it on till today. Building- Ferdy apprentices at a barrel builder's shop and learned how to make things fit together. He also learned from doing repairs on the family home when he was younger.
Weaknesses: fighting- Ferdy has always been hesitant to fight anyone. His father promised to teach him how to defend the homestead when he got a little older, but he died before that could happen; Cooking- Ferdy is a nightmare in the kitchen. He could burn water. He tried his hand at it, but now thinks he should stick to the cellars; Sailing- Ferdy's ancestors had been waterhogs and still maintain a settlement on the coast, but Ferdy's family had moved inland and became farmers. Ferdy loves trying new things so he attempts to sail in the little abbey pond, but just cannot get a hang of all the ropes and maneuvering.
History: Ferdy was born in the estern edge of Mossflower. He was the third hoglet of seven. He had two older sisters and four younger sisters. He was his father's pride and joy. His family mostly did subsistence farming, but occasionally would sell extra if they had any to the nearby village of goodbeasts. He grew up learning to farm and how to use different roots and berries to make drinks. This was Ferdy's favorite part.
One harvest season there came a band of vermin. Mostly corsairs whose ship had run aground in the river about four or five miles away. They demanded all the food and to stay in the farm house. Ferdy's father refused and told Ferdy to take his mum and sister's to the village. He packed a small haversack with some clothes and a loaf of bread. He wanted to stay and help, but his father would have none of that. "I need you to take them. Please Ferdy." The emotion in his voice was enough to convince Ferdy to get his family to safety. They set off and made it to the village. That night smoke could be seen coming out of the forest. Ferdy was only eleven seasons old when he lost his father.
They stayed in the village during the winter, but Ferdy's older siblings were restless. The two girls announced one night they were going to the north to try and find a hog tribe that had once passed through the village. Ferdy's heart was saddened by that, but he was the man of the family and had to be strong.
The mother tried to find work, but the village was too small for her weaving to fetch more than a few coins here and there. Ferdy was thirteen and accepted an offer from a barrel maker to apprentice with him. He got a steady income, but it still was not enough to support the family. He and mother had to make a hard decision to send the four girls to their cousins who lived on the eastern coast. Ferdy was really morose about this, but he did his duty. When they arrived his mother told him that she would be staying too as she was too old to look for another husband or to work really. He loved his family, but did not want to live on the coast. He packed up his meager belongings and set out west. He did not know what he was looking for, but he knew he would find it eventually.
He travelled throughout Mossflower wood for a time. He grew in size and maturity. He met some of the best creatures he had ever known and tried to become a fighter, but he never could bring himself to strike another creature. He would always have flashes of his father and his teaching of non-violence. He stumbled upon Redwall abbey when he was seventeen seasons old. He fell in love with the mice and their ways. He was appointed as the apprentice cellarhog under the tutelage of the ancient Durry spikediggle. He learned so much more about creating interesting brews and drinks and how to age them properly that he even thought possible. This was the best seasons of his life. Sadly three seasons ago this kindly hedgehog passed away and the responsibility for the cellars became solely his responsibility.

Overall, your character looks fine; however, I would suggest fleshing out your descriptions of strengths and weaknesses with more detailed explanations.
Also, I noted an issue with the relationships. You've stated that Ferdy is the son of Ambrose Spike, but we currently have a player character as a daughter of Rake Nightfur, a character from "The Rogue Crew", which takes place much later in time. I would recommend changing your character's father, as it would create an time paradox otherwise. If you want, it would be fine to have Ambrose Spike as a distant ancestor.
Hope that helps.
