Name: Wisp Shadowflight
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Species: Squirrel
Occupation: Mercenary/Archer
Physical Appearance:
Wisp is a melenastic squirrel; meaning his pelt is almost black. While some might consider this feature to be a curse, Wisp has found that it has upsides as well. Standing out among squirrels was rough as a dibbun, but he's found that it's incredibly easy to hide in the dark canopies of his native forest.
Wisp is of a strong, thing build, and he sports a Barkcloth tunic along with an eelskin belt. Other than his midnight black fur, he lacks any distinguishing marks, with the exception of a silver ring in his ear.
Possessions:
Wisp prefers to travel light, carrying only essential supplies. In addition to his light pack with flint, tinder, and some dried food, Wisp also sports a Yew bow complete with 24 arrows. In addition, he's armed with a lightweight shortsword. The squirrel also carries a kit for fletching new arrows.
Personality:
Wisp is a very adventurous creature, willing to travel and explore merely for the sake of knowing. While a friendly creature, he has been weary of making friends, for fear of being tied down to one spot. Secretly, though, he hopes to oneday find himself in the company of wandering creatures like himself... the long days and nights of loneliness have begun to wear upon him.
The squirrel has a sharp mind, but typically prefers to solve a problem though simple, easy solutions, rather than complicated plans. This habit has on occasion snarled up the well laid plans of his employers....
He is quite fond of vittles such as salad and Strawberry Cordial, and he hopes one day to visit the legendary haven of Redwall for this very reason, and perhaps to learn what he can about the legendary squirrel warriors of the Abbey.
Strengths:
Agile: Like many squirrels, Wisp is a natural acrobat well suited to the high branches of trees, roofs, and even masts.
Marksman: Under good conditions, Wisp has a deadly aim with his bow, hitting about 2/3 shots fired at mid to long range. However, the minimum safe distance for firing his bow restricts his options for fighting, so he prefers to rely on hit and run sniper attacks. His ammunition is fairly limited.
Weaknesses:
Melanistic pelt: Wisp's dark pelt makes it very hard for him to fit in with a crowd, and is especially difficult to deal with when he doesn't want to be found.
Inability to swim: Like most squirrels, Wisp prefers to hang in the trees or walk on solid ground. He has a very real fear of drowning.
Aloof Wisp's lack of serious friends has allowed him to continuously move on without worry, but it has also deprived him of potentially useful allies or support. Should he be caught in a tight spot, he may find himself at the mercy of fate.
History:
Wisp was born to a large family of squirrels in the Kingdom of Southsward. While this peaceful life suited the rest of his family, the young squirrel restlessly chaffed at what he viewed as a boring existence. When he finally came of age, he immediately left Southsward and headed even further south. Very early on in his adventure, he began to to sell his skills out for various tasks as a mercenary.
Despite being a sellsword, Wisp doesn't choose his jobs indiscriminately. In particular, murder and slavery don't sit well with him, and he has even fought a slaver for trying to hire him to track down some lost slaves. However, many other things are still fair game for him. There's always an adder to watch, or a small vermin gang needed to be driven off, or a rook nest disturbed.
Recently, Wisp has noticed a downturn in jobs, so he took to the nearest city, which happened to be Los Lobos. In the taverns, he hopes to find a worthwhile employer.
Relationships:
Unnamed Father
Unnamed Mother
Unnamed Sister
Other: I probably won't be covering his family at any near point in the future.
