The main villain of the Green Isle plot for Prank to review. -Salute-
Name: Kale Streamracer
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Species: River Otter of Green Isle
Occupation: Tyrant
Physical Appearance:
[General]
At average height for male otters, Kale has a rather sleek and lithe form to him. Dark chestnut fur lines his body with a cream hue for his undercoat. Light brown eyes that are very attentive to the world around him. Because of his need to keep clean and everything in its proper place, one would not find a single fur-strand out of place on his body.
[Clothing]
Though Kale is very keen on how he looks, he dresses practically. That does not mean however it is not extravagant all the same. A simple tunic and pants to make any need for water travel that it would not weigh him down, made up of the finest materials of the land in shades of blue and purple. A belt keeps about his waist with two butterfly swords in the same sheath to look like a single weapon, and on its opposing side a dagger.
Possessions:
Butterfly Swords: Two short-sword blades built for speed and rotating while in close-quarter combat. The blades have a small cross guard to assist in defense for his paws and the hilt's design can allow for non-lethal application of the weapon through blunt damage.
Dagger: A simple small dagger as a back up weapon.
Personality:
Vain, arrogant, and confident, Kale is very proud of himself and does not like it when he is bested at anything no matter what it is. This had forced him to become cunning over the years to ensure that he would come out on top regardless of the methods used. Kale holds a lot of ambition for himself and as such does not tolerate failure well, as well as those who do not see things his way. This becomes a particular problem with those who do not agree with him as his arrogance has him believe he is the best and therefore he is the one who knows what is best for everything, leaving him to be very stubborn and quite often to shun anyone's words, even those who are only trying to assist or rationalize with him. His greed also often blinds him and can drive him to mistakes.
Strengths:
Fast Swimmer: Keeping himself fit, Kale over the years has found ways to boost his stamina and speed, which coupled together has granted him a bit of a higher-than-average swimming speed compared to many of his fellow otters.
Cunning: Though with a sharp wit and a strong sense of situation, Kale is rather cunning when he has the drive to succeed behind him. His cunning often may resort to very underhanded things and he has no care who may get hurt in the process so long as the result is what he wants.
Ambidextrous: Kale was born with the innate ability of being able to use both paws as dominant ones. While this has not served much in his childhood in the beginning save for just helping reaction speed, it did help Kale wield the Butterfly Swords much more efficiently without the need to train to get a less dominant-paw to the same level a regular beast's paw strength would be.
Weaknesses:
Narcissistic: Kale believes looks mean everything and as such is very picky about his appearance. He even tries to keep clean if he were to get dirty, and the more he looks disheveled the more frustrated it begins to way on him. Because of this he is extremely proud and arrogant, believing himself to hold self importance higher than others just for looks alone.
Greed: Kale does not take no as an answer too well. What he wants, he will get and he will resort to any means necessary in order to do so. With this he is quite greedy for goods – particularly the more exotic the better but he will take anything.
Stubbornness: because of his pride and arrogance, it is very difficult to tell Kale anything, particularly if it is about him being wrong. He thinks he knows what is best at all times and if he is uncertain he personally will ask, but that is rare. Otherwise he gains insult from those who try to reason with him or make suggestions to his plans, to the point he can get violent depending on mood.
Strength: While still agile and rather fit, due to the years working off mind rather than body, Kale's strength is rather lacking. It is enough of a concern to him that he picked up a weapon that better favors what his strengths were in combat, versus something that required pure brawn. Though not as weak and feeble as say an old beast, Kale does act it sometimes and abuses his power to have over beasts move things for him.
History:
Born as the only child to an elder couple on Green Isle who had not been successful previously in conceiving children, Kale was quite spoiled by his mother and a proud moment for his father. Growing up the pup formed quite a bit of pride and arrogance in himself because of all the attention he received from his parents.
The first time he tasted defeat however was when he was outmatched in a swimming race with a fellow pup in his village. Convinced the first time it was a fluke, he challenged the pup once more, and again, and again! Each time the other pup always won. Kale began a long process of trying to better himself – stronger, more stamina, anything he could get his father to help him with to get him to become a powerful swimmer.
One evening his father was curious why he was so devoted to this, and Kale explained about how he wanted to beat his fellow in the race. In an attempt to be helpful, his father explained that physical prowess does not make everything and that everything can be overcome if he can utilize his mind properly.
This is what started the boy's discovery to his craftier side. While he did win in the races against the fellow pup, he did grow older to begin becoming a cruel beast in his tricks to make sure he won. By the time he had left the village to travel about the Green Isle at 17, he had a rather sly head on his shoulders with enough wit to get by just fine on his own.
In time he came across Holt Summerdell, home to the Rhulain. It was an interesting place to be, but he did not feel like it were a place for him and his tastes entirely until he was struck with something he had not felt before. There, sitting off on her own one day was the most beautiful otter he had ever seen. Overwhelmed by her beauty, he was confident enough to go and speak with her. Polite, kind, he introduced himself to her as a traveler looking about for a place he could perhaps call his own on the Isle. She seemed amused at him, but was kind. Her name was Mona Wildlough, the daughter of High Queen Rhulain Komoka Wildlough (and at the time she was 16).
Sticking around and finding work to earn his keep and sticking around, Kale quickly found himself entirely smitten by everything the younger otter-maid did and often kept an eye out to spend time in her company. Conversations were simple, but with how Kale felt he was sure in time however he could easily win her over for himself. Thankfully she never seemed interested in other otters – though she often spoke fondly of a Kenyon who Kale had not met at that point due to Kenyon being out and traveling. Though surely she only liked him as a brother, so he was not afraid of his chances.
A year later however Kale had the chance to briefly meet Kenyon. Immediately, seeing how Mona acted about the other otter made him feel jealous. There was a history between Mona and Kenyon, a close connection he knew immediately was not something he had with Mona and this was not something he was pleased with. However as Kenyon became an assistant to the armsmaster, Kale felt perhaps Kenyon was intentionally pulling himself away from Mona, which pleased him deeply (while not the case, the more busy Kenyon kept himself, the more Kale felt he could try to find a way to get that level of closeness to Mona for himself, entirely unaware that Kenyon's position allowed him to get closer to Mona on a daily basis).
Just before Mona's 18th birthday, Kale departed for the time to go visit home. It was upon arriving at home he had learned of Mona's mother's death. While wanting to be there to help her, his own father had come down with a sickness and he stayed on to assist his mother before he would set out once more seasons later.
He returned the night before Mona's coronation, and had intended to let her know his feelings for her finally. Of course the next day, the announcement of not just the coronation but her to be wed was enough to baffle him. The confusion about how Kenyon managed it turned to furious rage. He left that same day without seeing her.
Why not him? Was he not better than other otters? He was fast, cunning while still being strong enough to hold his own, not to mention rather handsome. That Kenyon obviously must have had the advantage of just knowing her longer. What a poor reason to be with someone.
Well, she would have to be shown reason, wouldn't she? But how?
A plan forming, Kale left the Green Isle. The only way to get Mona to see how he was the better choice was to prove he was. How else to show one's abilities and talents than to lay it out right in front of her? The plan was simple; find those not only willing, but capable to follow orders with skill to take over Green Isle and prove to her his worth. It was perfect, and he was patient enough to take as many years as it needed to prepare everything.
Relationships:
Caire Streamracer [Mother] – 67 – Alive: A good relationship to one another. She spoils her boy and does not believe he is able to harm any creature. The perfect innocent in her eyes and he enjoys this very much.
Riton Streamracer [Father] – 70 – Alive: A retired otter with a good head on his shoulders. While proud of his son's achievements growing up there are some things he is not so proud of...
Other:
The latest 15 years of Kale's life to present are omitted because it is during the time of the assassins and I do not want to force anything with that (and I am willing to work with anyone on it as characters are built).
