*Alias: Ike (He hates the nickname Izzy)
Gender: Male
Age: 16 equivalent to human years
Species: Hare
Occupation: Young resident of Salamandastron, serves under the Badger Lord, Braythe the Savage
Physical Appearance:
Ike is short for his age, which is the immediate trait otherbeasts seem to notice about him. From the fact that it gets pointed out so much, it's become somewhat of a sensitive topic to the young hare. Despite his size, though, he's pretty strong for a hare. He has a narrow chest, but powerful hind legs which he uses to leap long distances.
He has light brown fur with a hint of russet and rowan flecked across his fur. He has large, wide ears that are coal-black at the tips, and a pale muzzle and neck. The fur on his back is that of a considerably darker shade, but not black like his ear tips. He has large hind feet and wears a blue, fancy tunic with light blue designs and black trousers. The sleeves of his tunic are short, reaching out only just above his elbows and are ringed with the light blue design. He has a fluffy, brown tail that sticks out of a hole in the back of his pants with a pale underside and black tip, much like his ears. When he's nervous, his tail begins to flicker very quickly, so it's easy to tell when he's feeling the said emotion.
*Also, he changes the way he holds his ears very often because he says that 'wearing the same thing over and over again may get tasteless'. So sometimes, his ears will be completely straightened, half up, half down, or completely floppy.
Possessions:
A rapier, roughly 40 inches, which he keeps in its brown, leather sheathe that's attached to his golden-buckle belt. He also has a beaded necklace around his neck, reaching to the middle of his chest, with a wild cat's fang as its centerpiece.
Personality:
Ike is much like the Redwall Book's stereotype hare, but with a less garrulous attitude and isn't as ravenous when it comes to food. He's also a little more thoughtful, dwelling on plans and riddles more so than anybeast he personally knows. He's a very curious hare, so when a question is thrown his way, he has every intention - or so he claims - of figuring it out if he doesn't already know.
He wishes to travel to Redwall Abbey, just to see the place with his own eyes once before he dies. He's pretty impatient, considering how he has his whole life ahead of him to see it, but demands to see it a few times every season. He also dreams of joining the Long Patrol, like his father before him. He wants to protect Salamandastron from evil vermin and beasts alike.
Like any youngster, he's a bit rash, despite how he regularly prefers to think things over. When he's blinded by rage, he will make impudent decisions but will never risk the life of anotherbeast. In many ways, he's very noble for his age, but also still acquires the negative signs of adolescence, such as that of his rashness and impatience.
He doesn't have much interest in haremaids at the moment, so if any show signs of having an interest in him, he'll pretend to ignore it. Beasts who know of this think of that action as rude, but Ike will protest that if he ever wants to become part of the Long Patrol, he'll have to focus on training and protecting the Mountain, not in some smitten maids.
Strengths:
* Successful in jumping very long distances, or even high ones for that matter
* Dedicated to his Badger Lord, showing the up most respect for Braythe the Savage despite how... savage he is
* Like most hares, he has a powerful sense of humor, though he's a tad more serious than other hares
* Gives 110% of his effort to every bit of training he gets
* A devoted adventurer, for despite his love for Salamandastron and its Sire, he still wishes to visit Redwall Abbey
* Inspired by and idolizes the Long Patrol, which his late father was once part
* Has become pretty deadly with his rapier; a real swordsman
Weaknesses:
* Very impatient, when someones late for something important he might as well blow up on them
* Unlike most hares, he has a short fuse (especially when he's waitingimpatientlyfor something)
* When in this state of impatience or rage, he can make very rash decisions
* He might be a bit selfish, contradicting how he claims that he'd sacrifice himself for anotherbeast
* Ike shows a bit of cowardice - despite how courageous he can be - when he claims he will visit Redwall about every season, but seeks out an excuse one way or another
* He can be quite rude at times, especially when ignoring any smitten haremaids
* For being a hare, Ike has poor hearing in both ears, though the cause of this is unknown
* Isaac, for the time being, is only successful when weilding his rapier. If unarmed, he becomes pretty vulnerable
History:
Isaac Julius Winthrop Sutton Thorne Elton Farley the III was born to a brave hare by the name of Isaac Julius Winthrop Sutton Thorne Elton Farley the II, a member of the Long Patrol, and a sweet haremum, named Everilda Farley, an assistant cook in the kitchens of Salamandastron.
Even as a Dibbun, Ike idolized the Long Patrol, though mostly because his great father was part of it. He longed to become a member of it, just like his ole' dad, but his mum often exclaimed that he was too young to even dream of battling evil vermin. For her constant pestering, Ike somewhat resented Everilda as a babe, which was slowly breaking the protective mother's heart.
Ike began to grow more fond of his father, and even began to worship him when the old hare brought back the tooth of a wild cat, which he got attached to a black-beaded necklace as a gift to his young.
Unfortunately, fate took a devastating turn of events when the Long Patrol returned with Isaac the II's corpse, saying that he risked his life for the newest member of the Long Patrol, who had walked themselves straight into an ambush. His father had died defending the paralyzed hare from a horde of searats, who the rest of the patrol discovered and then took out, only when it was too late.
With his dad out of the picture, Ike knew that he had to replace his father in the ranks of the Long Patrol. However, his life wasn't just about battling and fighting anymore. With only one parent left, young Ike respected his mum more, realizing all she'd done for him behind his back when he was worshiping his father. It was small things, things that Ike had noticed but never really taken into consideration, such as her making his bed daily, and making sure he never missed a meal.
He spend a good portion of his seasons with his mum when she wasn't busy, cooking in the kitchens.
During the time that he was devoting this part of his life to spend with his mum, he met a young haremaid, roughly about the same age as himself, who was absolutely beautiful. It didn't take a doctor like Azryel Black to realize he was infatuated.
He followed her everywhere, becoming like her own personal slave. She realized this and cruelly took advantage of him, getting him to do her every wish and whim.
This lasted for a while, and his good old mother attempted many times to warn him of this, only to get a glare from her son and words that spoke clearly of denial.
Ike learned his lesson one day, though, when the haremaid met another, devilishly handsome and brave hare and basically fell into his muscular arms. Isaac was hurt beyond words, and hid in his room for three days without even a nibble of food or water.
Many times, his mother tried coming in, only to get a firm "Go away!", or "Leave me alone!".
Eventually, not willing to let her soon be cooped up in the bunks forever, she barged in without his consent and talked to him in the sweet, nurturing way that she always did. It took about a half an hour of trying to get him enthusiastic again, but he hesitantly, but surely took his first steps out of the room and was served a nice plate of hot porridge, cold cider, and candied chestnuts as a treat.
Young Ike began to get his nerve back, but from then on, ignored any topic regarding love, saying that it only brought pain.
At the age of 15, his mum grew fatally ill and -- being at the age that she was -- didn't have much chance of survival. Ike spent the last few days of her life by the bedside, holding her paw as her croaky old voice spoke fondly of the old days, when his father were still alive and before he became slave to a arrogant haremaid.
One night, he fell asleep on the chair next to her bed, only to wake up with a cold paw in his hand. He wept and grieved for the next few days, until the orphan was confronted by a hare in the Long Patrol who led him to an old storage room he'd never seen before. In it was a long box with a tag that said, "To my dearest Isaac - love, Mum". He opened the box and found a long rapier inside of it with a note attached to it's handle. His heart had swelled and he wished he'd discovered this sooner so he could throw his arms around his old mum and thank her for eternity. With the weight of grief, he knew he could not, and pulled out the sword and sheathe.
He realized that he wasn't helping anyone by sobbing, and began to dedicate his life to training for battle like he'd said he would as a Dibbun.
Now, he'll gently touch his necklace when thinking of his mother and father because he feels that the memory of both of them lives in it -- the tooth was brought to him by his father, and he'd learned it had been his old mother who'd turned it into a necklace.
To this day, he still aspires to become a member of the Long Patrol, to avenge his father and make his old mum proud.
