Physical Appearance:
As a slave, Tala is thin and fairly malnourished from want of food. The ottermaid is fairly average in height and build compared to the group in her pen. Her pelt is a light brown in color, and she has a light cream streak running from the underside of her jaw down to her belly. Her eyes are a grayish blue, while her face is unmarked, except for a scar on her left cheekbone. She wears a standard ragged grey tunic and belt.
Possessions:
The only possessions that the otter can consider her own are the clothes on her back and the gold sunburst clan tattoo on her right wrist.
Personality:
Tala Sunfire may have been a slave her entire life, but it hasn't dampened her hope of escape . Increasingly frustrated by her circumstances, she's begun to expand her search for others of like mind.
The Otter maid is a skilled fisherbeast, both by birth and by need. This has contributed to her better overall health (via stealing food while collecting it underwater), thought she's also received more lashes of late for it.
She has a decent relationship with most of the otters within her pen, although some distrust her for her role in attracting unwanted attention from guards. Her fraternization with some of the newer slaves has earned her additional distrust from a few older otters fearful of spies.
While she has little patience for those who have forgotten the dream of being free, the otter has absolutely no love for those who actively oppose any talk of escaping.
Strengths:
Tenacious: Life as a Stormhold slave has been difficult, but it hasn't driven the spark out of Tala. The otter maid continues to plot her revenge against the guards, bitter about her situation in life, and the death of her friends. Despite this, she dreams of more than revenge; if given the chance, she'd flee to one of the legendary havens of Mossflower.
Friendly: While some slaves give "Outsiders" AKA (new slaves) the cold shoulder, Tala has befriended many of the newcomers, fascinated by the tales and stories they bring, along with the refreshing breath of hope.
Loyal: While the guards, and occasionally spies, try to sow distrust between the slaves, Tala always looks out for her friends, desperate to protect the only stable things in her life. She will often try to mask her concern with feigned indifference, but she means well.
Weaknesses:
Short sighted: While Tala loves to cause problems for the Darkfire Horde, her hatred for her captors has often blinded her to the consequences of her actions. Recently these actions resulted in an enforced fast for slaves of her pen. She has personally avoided the worst of this hardship by stealing food from the supplies she was forced to forage for; that said, the fact hasn't been lost on some of her hungry fellow prisoners.
Impatient : Tala has not been an otter to take to servitude lightly. Every attempt that she's had to harass the horde, she has taken. However, with the death of her friend and the worsening conditions of winter, she has started to take more risks.
Unskilled with weapons: While Tala has a deep hatred for the horde, she never has had the opportunity to train with Javelins, blades, slings, or other otter weaponry. Her only weapons now are her wits, and the occasional well placed mudball.
History: Tala has had the misfortune of living almost her entire life as a slave. Many years ago, she lived as a kit in one of otter fishing villages that traded on the North coast. During Obsidious's rise to power, her village was raided and destroyed, and her parents were killed. Tala and some of the other otters survived, only to be taken as slaved.
Inside the hold, the ottermaid struggled to survive in the harsh environment; she was passed from otter to otter, tended for as best as slave could manage. A few of the older clanbeasts survived, but they were moved to a distant pen before should could obtain any useful information about her past. Slowly, time and poor conditions have whittled away the lives of many of her friends and caretakers, leaving her all but alone.
Five years ago, she befriended an "outsider" named Rausaro, who was assigned to fish with her shortly after he was captured. They became close friends, each watching the back of the other in the compound, working together for a life of freedom.
In light of the recent events, Tala has been brooding about her role in the "death" of her friend. At the moment, the ottermaid is unsure of her next step... but if one thing's certain, she's not going to sit around waiting for something to happen!
