Just an idea for the cadets and younger Patrol members of the mountain - a game designed to get them thinking, planning, and working together. ^^
Saxifrage is a Colour Sergeant - in combat, his actual function would normally be protecting the flag or unit banner, born by a junior officer. (Of course in amny cases he'd break away to simply fight, but that's neither here nor there.) So Sax's idea is to organize a mountain-wide Capture The Flag game for the cadets and other younger members.
The objective is simple - remove a scrap of cloth from Sax's person. Of course, with his size, strength, and combat experience this isn't a simple task, and one a youngster can't accomplish alone - so the young troops will have to work together to find Sax, overwhelm him, and take the cloth. Focusing on teamwork and strategy, this will start at dawn and end when they have the 'flag'... even if it takes days.
And of course, since a colour sergeant protects the standard bearer rather than bearing it himself, it's even possible Sax himself is a red herring.
