=) Alright, hey guys, we can all talk about our ideas for a new Redwall Abbey Plot, so far everyone seems to like this "Abbot's Betrayal" Plot quite a bit! Here's what we've got so far. A goodbeast comes to Redwall and quickly becomes their new abbot, however, what no one realized, is that he suffers from some kind of personality disorder and is actually as evil as they come. They learn the depth of his treachery when an army of >insert number< scores of vermin arrive at Redwall Abbey's front gates, and address their beloved Abbey as "M'lord". With the gates swung open wide to let in the horde, the pseudo abbot takes up his role as Ruler of Mossflower Wood, and the only beast ever smart enough to take down Redwall Abbey from the inside. o.O Okay, so it's my understanding that the MossGuard are the protagonists to this plot, and Broden Spikediggle somehow gets blamed and branded a traitor? xD Alright guys, help me out here. Lol. Let's clarify some things! Salamandastron will be getting involved, right? Is this going to be a big enough plot that we'll need the Green Clan Regiment involved as well? I'm all for epic scale battles though.

Salamandastron must be warned once Redwall is overthrown, so Tim and Dae are sent out as messengers. Also, the Mossguard aren't aware of the plot, so perhaps Tim is sent to Sali, since he's been out that way before, and Dae goes to the Mossguard?
God, this is gonna be epic! XD

I was thinking that the the "Abbot" could know of a few beasts that want to oust him (They know a little to much) and the "Abbot" kills a well loved member of the Abbey and frames Broden to get rid of him. As soon as Broden is gone (Likely taken by the MossGuard for imprisonment) The Horde walks straight into Mossflower and into Redwall.
When the Horde is in Redwall they set up a harsh regime, the Abbeydwellers must form together and meet in secret, trying to contact the unaware Mossguard just beyond their walls.
Just suggestions!

xD This is gonna be a huge but extremely exciting plot! We'll definitely need to lay out the pieces just right!
Awesome. So we've got a pair of couriers for MossGuard and Salamandastron. Great idea Onyxwing! The Abbey Champion, Broden is framed for killing some Abbey Dwellers and imprisoned by the MossGuard while the Evil Abbott's Horde walks right through the front gates.
=) I also like the idea of the MossGuard primarily trying to smuggle Redwallers out of Redwall Abbey.
Looks like we're going to have these groups of creatures involved:
Salamandastron's Long Patrol & Badger Lord ~ Alerted by Timaeus Nightwing, a Redwall Courier MossGuard ~ Alerted by Daedalus Nightwing, Courier The Green Clan Regiment ~ alerted to the fall of Redwall by the Otter Party of Leander, Cross, Koa & Freya, Shad and Oliden.

Okay, so I'm really confused as to what the heck we're planning. But here's what I think I know. We have an evil abbot who is a psychopath (I suggest that he didn't just suddenly become crazy. Rather, he should choose to indulge the crazies. This makes him that much more evil, I think.). That Abbot has "investors," who are basically just hordes/warlords-who-have-hordes to whom he has offered the prospect of sharing in the spoils of a conquered abbey. He is about to execute his plan when somebeast finds out. That beast is Skidd (Shad's younger brother). The Abbot then murders Skidd and frames Broden for it. All the abbeybeasts turn against Broden just in time for the hordes to attack waltz right in. By the way, let me just say, it would be pretty awesome if this happened during an important feast. And rather than destroy the sword of Martin completely, perhaps the Evil Abbot could promptly dispose of it before Broden is deemed Champion. He could then later gasp and say "somebeast's stolen it," when, in reality, he has thrown it into the River Moss or something. Martin's spirit could later lead someone's character to the sword and then, eventually, to Broden. Anyway, so, yeah, everybeast gets trapped, and the Abbot, being the genius that he is, decides that he should probably kill Broden, 'cause Broden's the Redwall Champion, and Redwall Champions tend to pose big problems for Villains. Well, through some mode or another, Broden is busted out, along with several other beasts. I would like to suggest that we use Tobias and Jaroah to help with the veritable prison break. After all, that sort of thing is their specialty. I could definitely come up with a good con for this. Tobias is a mastermind, and Jaroah is just a good grifter. With some help, and some experience in prison-breaking prior to the fall of the abbey (between Jaroah, Tobias, and Broden, who've all broken out of a fort before), I think they could pull it off. Then, a group of the escapees go west to get help from Salamandastron and Green Isle. Otter Party goes to Green Isle, some beasts go to Salamandastrong. (You know dat's right.) and Broden goes heaven knows where. Maybe nowhere. I dunno. Another side note, toward the end of this plot, I would like to do something with Moledeep. Let's just say that the moles of Mossflower have been maintaining that system of tunnels under Mossflower. So, the good guys (whoever they be), at some point, lure the Big Bad army to a patch of land directly above a deep portion of Moledeep. The moles then proceed to destroy all the supports, effectively collapsing the entire battlefield under the Big Bad army's boots. And along those lines, what about Castle Floret? Lots of squirrels would be a great help. And then there's the Sparra. And the bats from the western mountain range that's just east of Salamandastron. There's nothin' like an awesome action scene wherein the sky is darkened by countless wings. -- Okay, so, there's mah brain's immediate conglomeration of thoughts. Do with it what you will. ^^

That sounds amazing - I have a few characters I can bring in, even. I would be perfectly willing to use a crow character of mine as a sort of messenger for the evil Abbot - he is very much a follower-type, not suited to lead his own flock but a very trusty right hand. It's also a prime spot for almost any character anyone wants to use - everyone, from Long Patrol to Abbeybeast to Mossguard has a role, and other vermin groups could be drawn into the conflict as well.
All in all, sounds epic!

That Abbot has "investors," who are basically just hordes/warlords-who-have-hordes to whom he has offered the prospect of sharing in the spoils of a conquered abbey.o.O the only problem with the Abbott hiring warlords is that they'd try to kill him once they got inside; I think the Abbott should be a warlord himself, and it's his second-in-command who's been rallying all of these armies together (probably a few stragglers from the Northlands who's leader Braythe's probably killed or something) to march for Redwall. =) I do like really like the part about it happening during a feast! Perhaps we can start this plot on Halloween (in real life), during the Autumn Festival? (in the RP) I would like to suggest that we use Tobias and Jaroah to help with the veritable prison break. After all, that sort of thing is their specialty. I could definitely come up with a good con for this. Tobias is a mastermind, and Jaroah is just a good grifter. With some help, and some experience in prison-breaking prior to the fall of the abbey (between Jaroah, Tobias, and Broden, who've all broken out of a fort before), I think they could pull it off.Maybe I could work Coor in there with Broden? Coor's probably the only beast who swore Broden was innocent, and was branded a cohort and tossed in prison with Broden? xD I need to make his profile first though, lol. Then, a group of the escapees go west to get help from Salamandastron and Green Isle. Otter Party goes to Green Isle, some beasts go to Salamandastrong. (You know dat's right.) and Broden goes heaven knows where. Maybe nowhere. I dunno. We have a courier pair planning on delivering messages to MossGuard (Daedelus) and Salamandastron (Timaeus), I think the group of escapees should bump into the Otter Party on their way to the Green Isle, and then the Otter Party takes over the mission to reach the Green Isle. Maybe Broden and Coor go to the Highlands to rally the Highlander/Border squirrels and Mountain Hares? xD (or, if anyone's read the Rogue Crew, they can go get the North Coast otters?) Also, I've noticed a bit of a problem with the Green Isle. Because it is in fact, and Island, they're going to have a bit of difficulty getting to Mossflower, which means they'll need a ship. Perhaps Stryker and his crew's first real job is to transport the Green Clan Regiment to Mossflower safely? Only they'll definitely have to use a ship owned by the Green Clans, since Stryker's little schooner can only hold 25 crewbeasts max. xP And along those lines, what about Castle Floret? Lots of squirrels would be a great help. And then there's the Sparra. And the bats from the western mountain range that's just east of Salamandastron. There's nothin' like an awesome action scene wherein the sky is darkened by countless wings.I love the moledeep idea, I say they let Tessa touch the supports, lol, or just stand NEAR the supports, they'll fall down on their own! Also, what's Castle Floret? I don't remember, and I think the Sparra kind of died off... they only appeared in a single book, so I'm a bit more partial to bats. xD They'd look pretty sweet, you gotta admit. Maybe the Good Army of Bats fights the evil abbott's army of Ravens, Crows and Magpies? So there's Airial Battles and Land Battles. This is gonna be so awesome.

I can add a mountain hare to the pile along with the crow; I also have a neutral-evil mole who can work with the Abbot. After all, clear-thinking and quick-tunneling moles are a thorn in anybeast's side; an experienced mole following Bad Abbot could be very valuable to him. 8)
And since it's so epic and widespread, this is also an opportunity for people still learning the ins and outs of the board's system (like me) to test themselves in deep plot and combat (if the character is suited for such); a lot of noobs like myself might have long experience, but every group operates differently and all the players pulling together like this will be good for everyone to knit together.
In other words, it's a good 'in' for a huge variety of characters, and good for the community as a whole.

Hey, T! On your note of Martin's sword! Can it be Rook who's lead to the place where it was thrown away and then he brings it to Broden? They're close friends, after all, so I think it might be an interesting plot point to add. And he's aided by Tobias and Jaroah to get out of Redwall after Martin comes to him in his dreams or something.
Just a suggestion. This is going to rock!

Um, yes. The Fall of the Abbey should definitely occur in the Fall. XD
I say Coor and Rook should end up stickin' with Broden one way or another. Those three would make for a good group to carry out a subplot. (Obviously, there's going to be quite a few subplots going on. There's the Otter Party, the Long Patrol/Salamandastron characters, the Mossguard, the abbeybeasts, and, of course, Rook/Broden/Coor who, I guess could go get some Northerners to join in the effort.)
I'm sure the Green Isle thing won't be a problem. The sea otters certainly have enough ships to carry their warriors to the coast. Why wouldn't they?
It looks like the Moledeep idea will work, so we'll definitely have to keep that in mind for one of the final, major battles.
Castle Floret, if I recall correctly, is a super-tall castle in Southsward that is ruled by a Squirrelking and a Squirrelqueen. They also have some otters that help keep peace and such. I'm sayin' if you've got a thousand squirrels climbing the red-walls at one time, there's no way those vermin are stoppin' 'em all. (Probably a good last-resort move, so it'd be a climactic sort of thing.)
And yes, bats would be awesome. Can't really hide behind a wall from something that flies, now can you? I'm sayin' we get squirrels coming in from the walltops, bats coming in from the sky, moles coming in from the tunnels, and everybeast else breaking down the gates (or, if one of the squirrels gets smart, he could just open one of the gates to let them in).
And finally, yeah, it would pretty cool if Martin led Rook to the sword. ^^ I got qualms with it.
-- Now that I've officially used the word "qualms" in my prose, I'm gonna call it a night. ^^
God bless y'all! -TB

Hello Everyone!
First of all, I wish to apologize to everyone involved in this plot. There have been important questions you have all been asking me, some of which I have responded too, others, not so much, and most often the replies I have been given haven't been definitive.
Secondly, I'm liking this plot. I have to admit, the old one is so way past dead that it is decomposing to the 4th degree. I have only seen good ideas coming from here and really, no objections. So, if through a collaborative effort we can all figure out which ideas we are using and which ones we are not (seeing as with other plots going on places like Green Isle and Salamandastron can't be used) and put all of the ideas into one 'post', then I don't really see what would be stopping me from approving it and approving those profiles that are related to this plot thread.
I again apologize to everyone for the wait, hopefully this can help things get moving.
Prankster101
P.S. Hey Django, seeing as you will be playing the evil Abbot person, do you think I could work my Redwall character (Travi) into this mix? I was thinking that he didn't trust the Abbot ever, is maybe the first to realize what's happen, tries to fight, but then gets locked in a dark storage room in the wine cellar and is kept prisoner there? I know it's kind of specific for this stage in planning, but I thought it would be fun.....
