Name: Tace Whiskruff
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Species: mouse
Occupation: Wandering storyteller; he lives off the tips and food he can make off of storytelling, while using the wilderness and environment as an additional source of food and shelter.
Physical Appearance:
For a mouse Tace is pretty decently sized—as he should be. Whereas most mice are smaller and known for their agility and all around speed, Tace makes up for a lack of speed with brawn.
Not only is Tace considered tall for a mouse(some would like to call him a rat) but he is also known to be quite durable and the strength is visible throughout his body, for besides the occasionally scar, his muscle movement can be seen beneath his rugged fur.
Speaking of his fur, let's get a more vivid image shall we? His fur is a light brown with the occasional grey which he likes to say is caused by the "stress of war." His eyes are a dim brown, sometimes compared with mud after a heavy storm.
There is a slight nick in his right ear. Both ears are pierced with a small loop. There is definitely significance to the earrings as they were once his sister's, but he never will reveal more than that. I guess it is ironic as it is the one story he will never tell.
He is typically seen wandering with ragged bandages on his feet and claws(I guess that's what you call mouse hands?). He has a faded, light blue, hooded tunic with a brown belt at his mid section.
His facial expression shows a beast that has seen a lot, but still has retained a welcoming and in some ways, wise voice. While many beasts feel strange around such a mouse, if one truly talks to Tace, they can realize just how calm, collected, and kind he is.
Possessions:
-A small knife used for cutting vegetables, fruits, etc.
-A satchel that hangs on his side holds a book of his 'tales' and 'notes', as well as the occasional herb
-Slung across his back is a worn battle axe. Whatever symbols that may have once existed on the blade have worn away with time.
Personality:
He tries to remain calm in every situation possible. His actions stem from experience, or that is how he naively justifies anything that he does—even if it is wrong. Regardless, he is a kind and welcoming mouse who is never afraid to speak his mind or offer a helping hand.
Sometimes he tries to butt in on situations that he actually has no say in, and let's just say that has given him a laundry list of enemies or beasts that dislike him.
He's a wanderer at heart and finds it hard to stick around for long. Maybe it's because he's afraid of commitment—as most beasts are who have either lost or have had nothing in a long time. He does have his stories though, and the smiles on the faces of beasts he tries to inspire.
Strengths:
-Physically strong; able to lift heavy things and throw a mighty blow
-Skilled with an axe
-Skilled with a bow
-Decent story teller
-Charismatic when around a small audience(and I don't mean in storytelling. When he tells a story, he's putting up a facade...in terms of dealing with serious subject matter, his charisma dies down)
-Great survival skills
Weaknesses:
-Soft heart that can cause him to shut out others or straight up leave
-'Growing Pains.' There may be something physically wrong with him but he is subject to soreness every morning and night. He likes to blame it on his history, but history also notes that he's had the pains since he was little.
-Poor Endurance. While he is known for being durable, his actual ability to breathe well and keep himself pumping properly can mean the difference between life and death if he overworks himself.
-Naive. Again, sometimes he claims experience in matters and subjects that he should have no say in, thus causing him to be truly naive and cause himself trouble.
-Lone wolf complex. He doesn't don this all the time, but it seems to kick in at the worst possible times and it seems to connect with the soft heart.
-Not fast. He's just not a quick runner.
History:
Tace never really had a hard life. Most warriors start out overcoming some disaster or event, but the only thing that stood in Tace's way as he grew up was pain. He constantly felt fatigued and in pain as a child and this caused him some slight distress. Whereas the other mice and beasts in his village could compete in races and their own little adventures, he could not.
Thus, a lot of his time was spent working on his story telling skills and learning how to forage. In secrecy, he managed to slowly build up his physical strength by going for short runs and lifting increasingly heavier objects month by month.
As the years passed and by the age of 18, Tace became known for his brawn and sheer force. This helped him in his recruitment to the local guard where he became trained with multiple weaponry, but always preferred the longbow and axe. After all, he deemed them weapons modeled after himself. Around the age of 23, after seeing multiple small skirmishes and having done enough guard work, he wanted to create a name for himself like the fictional characters and heroes he once dreamed about.
It was harder than he thought and the mouse ended up more scarred than he would have liked. He also messed around with the wrong warlord fox (Lurjat Thrun) who then brought his blade upon Tace's family...which I forgot to mention was he, his younger sister, and his parents.
The only reason Tace's village/town and his family was targeted was because Tace had roughed up a couple of the Lurjat's scouts that had been causing harm to another nearby village. Unfortunately, one of them was Lurjat's own son. Enraged, Lurjat's 'eye for an eye' sense of mind consumed him and he ordered that Tace's village be annihilated.
One mouse against a warlord would be suicide. To Tace's dismay, the latter was the realization that he had come to. He left with his sister's earrings, and wears them every day as an act of penance and his own personal failure. He wishes every day to see Lurjat's head on a pike, but alas, knows that he is incapable of doing so. Ever since then, Tace has traveled, telling grand stories about his own adventures and the journeys of other heroes...the only shame is that he never can tell he story of Lurjat Thrun...
Perhaps that is why he wanders. Maybe Tace has been buying time until he feels he is ready. Either way, Tace has ended up on the shore of Mossflower, far from his homeland. Is it to forget? Or is it to find someone else Tace can bring vengeance upon in an odd form of displacement?
Relationships:
None remaining. I mean, sure you could definitely say he has a boatload of acquaintances and 'should be' friends, but his ability to move on has really limited all potential relationships.
...
I apologize for the odd phrasing and language choice but I just got done my literary history final and I'm slightly brain dead at the moment ^^; Also kinda rushed I'll admit. I'll definitely come back and fix the grammar 'n such asap.
