Turegk had been staying at the abbey for only a short time, but already he was acclimated to the good food and life among the Earthbound. They had allowed him to live up on the roof and the old Sparra Loft. Some beasts were still rather scared of him, but Turegk didn't blame them.
Turegk had decided to get out and stretch his wings a bit. As good as the food of the abbey was, it wasn't enough to keep him indoors. The eagle walked onto the lawn and spread his grand wings, taking to the air and wheeling around the abbey for a time. He finally entered a dive and braked by spreading his wings just as he neared the ground. His claws dug into the sod and he flapped his wings a few times before tucking them up to rest.
"What a wonderous day for flying." Turegk remarked in eagle before taking back off, landing on the wall top and preening his feathers with his hooked beak for a time in the warm sun and slight breeze.

Today was a wonderful day for making piles of leaves. Because the rake he was using was a bit too tall for him, the piles the otterbabe were making were a bit...lacking in number. But it was the effort that counted, right? Koa hummed another song off key, doing his absolute best to work with what he had -- but a few leaves liked to cling to his tawny-colored torso. Dropping the rake again, Koa's little webbed paws tried brushing the clingy leaves off, but that only transferred them from his chest to his paws, the otterbabe squeaking with effort as he shook each of his limbs like a cat. "Get off!"
Wait... Wasn't he gonna jump in them anyway?
Realizing how silly he was, trying to get the leaves OFF of himself, Koa turned around, his rudder facing the leaf pile, and spread his arms out, falling back with a giggle and a 'whump!' as he landed amongst the maple leaves with nothing short of dibbunish joy. Rolling around, Koa liked the 'crunch' sound the leaves made if he rolled over them just right, the ottercub taking big pawfuls and throwing them up into the air -- twisting, turning and biting to try and see how many he could catch.
Suddenly, however, a long, dark shadow fell over the ottercub and his leaf pile. He had been alive long enough to realize big shadows meant big creatures -- and if that was the case, this one was gonna be huge! Cautiously, Koa burrowed into his leaf pile, his rudder sticking out while he stretched himself flat, bright brown eyes peering through the bright gold, orange and red foliage to see if anyone was coming. If it was just someone he knew, then Koa would have the immense joy of jumping out and scaring them -- but if it wasn't...
Well, he'd figure out that one later.

Turegk heard something stirring on the grounds. When he looked, he saw a small otter raking leaves with a far too big rake. Turegk watched with interest. Curiously, the otter was shaking himself like a bird would before preening. He seemed to be trying to rid himself of the leaves on his back. But then, the otter jumped into the pile of leaves and remained in it.
The Earthbound are absolutely crazy. Not being able to fly must get to them.
Turegk took to the air and flew the short distance to a spot near the pile of leaves. Looking at the pile closer, he noticed the rudder of the little otter was sticking out of it. Turegk walked closer to the pile and flapped his wings quickly, pushing him back and blowing the top cover of leaves of the pile.
"And who might you be?" Turegk said in mock suprise as he exposed the dibbun.

A confused look danced across the ottercub's face, his brown eyes wide as all the leaves he had meticulously raked up were suddenly blown away by a particularly strong breeze. Letting out a squeak of dismay, the ottercub pushed forward and pounced, catlike, to pin one large red leaf beneath his webbed paws, a noise of triumph quickly turning into one of shock as his eyes locked in on several large, lethal looking talons.
"And who might you be?"
Koa Shorehound looked up, and the scream died in his throat. Sweet Mother of Martin.
Squeaking in shock, the otterbabe scrambled back into the pile, searching for something -- anything he could use to defend himself, his paws curling around the rake, which he held out like he'd seen Cross do during combat training with Broden or Coor. "M-M-My name is Koa Shorehound -- goaway eagle! Or else my big brother Cross'll get yew!" The babe was trying his absolute best to look fearsome -- however, when one was barely up to the eagle's thigh and wielding a rake taller than they were, they tended to lose some of their fierceness...
(( XD poor little cub. He gets points for TRYING to be tough, right? ))

Turegk leaped back as the otter grabbed the rake and took what appeared to be a modified defensive stance. Turegk looked down at the little otter and judged him to be somewhat of a threat, armed with the rake as he was.
"M-M-My name is Koa Shorehound -- goaway eagle! Or else my big brother Cross'll get yew!"
"Big brother Crossll? Is he one of the friars here? Strange name, I'll give him that..." Turegk said
"Why don't you put the rake down? I won't hurt you." Turegk thought about saying "I've already ate after all." But that, suprisingly, was considered not funny by the Earthbound.
Turegk backed up a few steps to give the otter, and the rake, a bit of space.

Crossll?
"Noooo. His name is Cross!" Corrected Koa. Silly bird. "And he's a warrior! He's taller than this rake, and he doesn't like h'eagles very much!" At the last words Turegk spoke, the otterbabe frowned, too young to properly discern lying from the truth -- especially in creatures he didn't know -- but his past encounters with birds and other beasties had NOT been very much fun. It did feel a surge of pride, however, when the big scary eagle backed up -- maybe he was fierce and scary after all? The eagle certainly seemed to think so.
Relaxing a little, Koa leaned his weight on the rake, eying the big eagle with curiosity mixed with suspicion. "Did yew come here to eat my friends? How come yew can speak? Birds don't talk..." At least falcons didn't -- but this beast of a bird was much MUCH bigger than a falcon. Studying Turegk's handsome plumage, Koa had the strongest urge to touch it -- but even he knew better than to go pet some strange bird. Especially one that could eat him in two bites (maybe one with some effort).
It did look soft though...
