Joaquin could not hold back his excited laughter. All of them were mice? Oh, this was just too perfect! Why hadn't he heard of this place before? Wiping tears of mirth from his eyes, the fox eagerly replied, "Ah, joo pick beun objectivo, gato. We steal from dis mouse, y I teach joo some of my tongue. ¡Muy bien!"
Felix's mouth twitched into a smile, somewhat entranced by the fox's handling of the matches. "Sounds good, Blaze. But we shouldn't do this in the middle of the afternoon -- we'll have to lie low until it's nighttime," The feline cast weary eyes in the direction of Redwall Abbey. If the goodfolk there heard that someone was stealing from and burning woodlanders, they could always send for some back up or something... Which would make a later heist virtually impossible; turning back to the fox, Felix Ferroux silently wondered if this crazed fox understood subtlety.
"I know the way to the feudal lord's house, so I guess we should meet up here say, around midnight?" Studying the black and red fox, the expert thief found himself contemplating getting the fox a disguise of some sort... But the argument that Blaze's black fur would help him blend in at night presented itself, and Felix let it go. "Does that sound good? When it IS time for the heist, I'll sneak around the back way and give the signal -- a high pitched bird call -- and then you can start setting the fires."

"Sounds good, Blaze. But we shouldn't do this in the middle of the afternoon -- we'll have to lie low until it's nighttime,"
Joaquin nodded, taking out another match and sticking it in his teeth as a farmer might do with a wheat straw. "Sí, sí," he replied with a nod, opening and closing the box of matches with one paw. He completely agreed with Felix. Besides, fires burned brighter at night, anyway.
"I know the way to the feudal lord's house, so I guess we should meet up here say, around midnight?" . . . "Does that sound good? When it IS time for the heist, I'll sneak around the back way and give the signal -- a high pitched bird call -- and then you can start setting the fires."
The fox nodded again, glad of the chance to use his sneaking skills once more. How long had it been since he'd gotten to do a real heist, in the dead of night and everything? Hmm, too long, obviously. And he hadn't had a partner that time. This would be fun. "I will see joo at midnight, gato," Joaquin said, removing his arm from around the feline. "I bring plenty of matches."
((I'll start a new thread in the Mossflower board. See you there!))
