Ahoy! Kyo here…
The characters I have created recently have all been intertwined in a way by their history. However, a few moderators have told me that the history I have created for them consists of a sort of plot that might not be plausible for the other parts of Mossflower country not to know about, so Ambrr advised me to make a thread here if I wanted to about this potential story for the lands north of Mossflower
So, I guess I’ll just jump right in ______________________________________
First of all, let’s start with a map of the area.
I know this is in German, but you still can tell what is what and what is where
You will notice that the area circled on the map is the location of fort Marshank, or rather where the fort once stood.
The fort was introduced in the book Martin the Warrior. Fort Marshank was a slave encampment on the northern part of the Eastern Coast ruled by Badrang the tyrant. The fort fell after Martin the Warrior led an attack an attack against the fortress.
For more information about Fort Marshank and the battle that took place, Check out this link. I will not explain it any further here due to possible spoilers

After the fort fell, it was presumably abandoned and was never mentioned again in later books.
this is where my twist on the story comes in play. Ill just run a brief overview of my idea.
A few decades after the fort was abandoned a group of traveling friendly merchants and warrior escorts set up a temporary camp inside the fort for the shelter and protection offered by the stone walls. After staying on location for a week, they realized that fishing was plentiful, the soil was fertile, and there was an abundance of raw material in the area. After holding a discussion, they decided to fortify the camp, and make the location a permanent trading outpost and rest stop for any good beasts traveling through the hostile lands. They named the small outpost "Checkpoint Kyo" after the lead navigator of the original band of merchants and seasoned warrior, Kyo Dontray.
A small group of the traders departed from the checkpoint and headed southward with an abundance of maps of the area, similar to the one posted above, and spread the word throughout the throughout the civilized portions of Mossflower country.
After years of trading and steady population growth, the small checkpoint evolved into a modest fishing village and harbor. however, the village was under frequent attacks and raids by the many small clans of vermin spread out through out the Northern lands. the village decided to combat this threat by concentrating on building a larger, and skilled defense force. As well as Expanding the Stone walls around the village. It was also at this time when the settlement was renamed from Checkpoint Kyo to Fort Kyo.
Fast forwarding quite a few decades, the once small Checkpoint of merchants and warriors had become a large and rich fortress. its position on the Eastern coast allowed them to start building a Naval fleet to combat the corsairs in the eastern sea. Although there were still many vermin in the area, they were separated into many different clans, constantly raging war against each other.
Fort Kyo has been growing ever since until we reach the modern time period that this roleplay site is set in.
A time came when a Vermin Warlord was, somehow, able to unite the clans of vermin in north Mossflower in one final attempt to overthrow Fort Kyo so he could call himself Ruler of the lands north of Mossflower. Just as Badrang the Tyrant once did.
However, even with the large army now at his side, he could not Defeat the army of Kyo in a straight up fight. He would lose a third of his army just trying to get inside the walls, and once there, he would be slaughtered without a trained army.
So he sent in a few agents to the fort exactly 7 months before his attack. The agents posed as friendly woodlanders that meant no harm, and were welcomed into the fort. Their jobs were to win the hearts and trust of the People inside as residents, while the warlord trained his army for combat. In the agreed 7 months after they were let in, one agent snuck out of the fort and returned to the warlord with a plan of attack....
Under the cover of night, the remaing agents slew the gate keepers and the guards that were on watch of that side of the fort, and opened the gates for the vermin army to attack.
The attack worked. The vermin army silently invaded the fort, and started slaughtering the population. However, the well trained army of Kyo was quick to react and fought a hard battle. When the last sword was sheathed, over 3/4ths of the vermin warlord’s army lay dead, and all of Kyo's army and majority of its populous were slaughtered. The Warlord had won, and Kyo was under vermin control once again for the first time in ages....
And that was my idea. One of my characters is a surviving member of the army in fort kyo that managed to escape.
What do you think? Constructive criticism is allowed. But please, if you don’t like the idea. Don’t just bash, tell me why
