Name: Slich Rot-Face
Gender: Female
Age: 12 years
Species: Fox
Occupation: Trader of information-true or false
Physical Appearance:
Slich is a lean fox with a long, soft pelt of silver with large blotches of white. She wears scaly stockings on her hind legs made from patches of lizard skin, weaving into a sort of camouflage with a range of greens and browns. From her right ear dangles an earring made from seashells and the odd gem. The blotchy fox wears a short skirt made from a variety of bird feathers- crow, magpie, falcon, eagle, owl and more.
To go into further detail about her pelt, Slich's back is covered in a cloak of silver fur, extending about halfway down each of her legs and to the tip of her tail. A stripe on her snout and three of her paws are black, while her front left paw is white. But her face is a horrifying sight. Most of her face is covered in red—dried blood. Not her own, but from many kills. Her eyes are gold, transfixing gold...
As for body build, Slich is lean and fast, with good endurance but acceptable strength. She probably wouldn't win a wrestling match against another creature her size, but if it were a competition of speed and wits, Rot-Face is your winner.
Possessions
Slich wields a strong but light rosebush staff, the thorns only shaved off where she puts her paws. Also around her waist she carries a sling, which is her primary weapon, as she prefers to stay out of the thick of fighting.
As for plain old possessions, Slich keeps a small collection of bugs in amber that her mother and father would collect for her. She also keeps a small knife that isn't very effective for combat, but good to whittle with.
Personality:
Slich keeps her cool. It is how she often gets her way, as she always talks in a calm voice. To one very frustrated, it seems antagonizingly calm. If would be a lie to call her evil, for she does not always side with bad. Whoever seems to be winning by her own judgment will get Slich's alliance, though she remains largely neutral in the case that her side loses.
Loyalty is not one of Rot-Face's laws. She will betray any beast. But badness (I shall call it) is not a law either. Slich will often leave others to die, but some who have been good to her may arouse her to help them.
Her personality varying seems huge, but it is based on the few laws that Silch Rot-Face does have:
Win.
Survive.
Repay.
In fact, Slich is a very honest fox. Yes, she will lie if it helps her, but rarely does that need occur.
Strengths:
Speed: Slich is fast with good endurance, making up for what she lacks in strength.
Basic Survival: Slich knows basic healing and most of what is edible. She also knows how to set traps and make her staffs and slings.
Planning: Like most foxes, Rot-Face has brains and wits, with good judgment to go along with it. She can create good plans that please herself and others-usually incredibly simple but much overlooked.
Calm: Slich can keep calm no matter what, with the exception of one thing [placed under weaknesses]
Weaknesses:
Strength: Slich is not very strong, and would not do well cornered without a weapon.
Fear: Rot-Face is given courage by her bugs in amber—her parents gave them to her, and if she is separated from them Slich looses many of her strengths because she becomes frantic.
Eyesight: Dispite the catlike eyes, foxes generally are slightly nearsighted. She cannot see things in the distance very well, though she usually can scent them.
Swimming: Slich is a poor swimmer.
History:
Slich was born to Firestripe and Nacht, two old foxes who lived in an old shack on the beach not too far from Mossflower Wood. She grew up as a happy beast, for her parents were old and senile, so she was not taught in the normal way of foxes. Instead, her parents mostly taught her to think—to assess the situation and find how she can get upper hand or survive.
Every year, for her birthday, Slich was given a piece of amber, each time with a different bug inside.
When Slich was four, an old otter taught her to use a sling. Why? It was because at this time, Slich appeared to be a good fox—they do come every now and then.
Then, on a sad winter night when Slich was five, her parents died. The old otter who taught her to use a sling took her in, but was old too and soon passed away. Slich was five, old enough to survive on her own but... Not exactly knowing how. Young Slich knew how to cook, but not what went in the cooking, for her parents forgot to tell her. She looked around for other foxes, hoping for guidance and help. Rot-Face was found wandering by Mossflower by Roket, a sly, middle-aged fox.
It was he who taught her to kill and leave others for dead. It was he who taught her to live off the land. While some of the skills were needed, many were unnecessary and her life might have been easier without. But Roket wanted to change the sweet, innocent child into a fighter, a sinner. He also wanted to make her things she was not—one of these being strong. Roket made her do wrestling with him, making Slich realize that Roket was not always right. He thought he could make her be what she was not.
But five years of staying with Roket had left it's mark. Slich's face was covered in red from all the creatures she had killed. When she looked in a puddle she whimpered and looked away. Her family had no last name, but Slich knew what would suit her fine. Rot-Face. Implying that she was some sort of rot, and to those who knew otherwise, it meant "Red-Face."
She remembered her parents' lessons, about thinking. Then one day, this happened:
"Am I a prisoner, Roket?" Slich asked.
"No."
"Why am I treated so?"
"You aren't."
"Can I leave then?"
"No."
"That's making me a prisoner." she said in her calm voice.
"No, it's not, Slich."
"Yes, it is."
"NO IT IS NOT!" Roket snarled.
"Can I leave then?"
"No."
"Fine, slaver."
That night she slipped off, taking a whittling knife from Roket as well. While she went, she decided she'd better have a weapon for close-ranged fighting. Though she did not wish it to be, Roket had left his mark on Slich.
She wanted something she could wield with efficiency without massive strength. Suddenly, her lizard-skin stockings got snagged in a rosebush. They were another mark from Roket, but they aided her well. Slich had to hack down the branch to get herself free. When she did, she realized how light but strong the thing was. A good staff. Rot-Face shaved off the thorns on part of it, where she would put her paws, but left the rest on. She sat admiring it until she heard crashing in the bushes and scented Roket. Cursing, she fled and left as little trail as possible. Soon she heard Roket panting and falling behind. With a mighty jump, she leaped into a slightly shorter tree with thick foliage. Roket was beneath her now, looking around. "Where are you, you filthy Crowsmeat?"
Finally Roket gave up and went back to his home in a rage. Slich smiled, jumped down, and wandered away. She settled in the forest not to far from St. Ninan's, and has lived there the past two years.
