Species: Mouse
Occupation: Cook's assistant at Redwall.
Physical Appearance:
Brightly usually wears a green habit. He has light fur that makes him stand out in a crowd, and his mother always told him that he looked just like he was named, and he was named just like he looked. He has little beady eyes that shine whenever he smiles which is almost always! Brightly has two very large teeth that make him look a little ridiculous, and he can pull any face he wants to.
Possessions
Brightly has only one actual possession-It's a tiny yellow stone that his mother found when she had taken her son out to the stream for the very first time. She said to him that the stone resembled him, so he's kept it ever since. He has lost it several times, and went into a panic. It means the world to Brightly.
Personality:
Brightly is very cheerful. He always seems to be smiling, and no one really knows why. However, he is just wonderful with the babies and can charm the wits out of you with his flattery. He is very forgetful, and doesn't understand many things, but he just smiles and nods, hoping he'll get it later. He puts the past behind him, and lives for the moment!
Brightly's a great actor. He can make his little face shine with all sorts of personalities, and keep an absolutely straight face when he wants to. Acting is one of his favorite pastimes, right up with cooking. He learned from his mother, and decided that he wanted to help repay the kindness of the Redwallers by feeding them sweets. (That's his absolute favorite thing to bake!) If anybeast mentions or even hints about taking/stealing his cooking, Brightly flips out completely. It's the only thing that he will become angry at, but he, on occasion, has sulked for several days because a hare took one of his pasties. Just. ONE.
Strengths:
Brightly is extremely bright (hence his name) and cheerful. He won't let anything slow him down. When his family was killed by vermin, Brightly made it all the way to Redwall, and never missed a single day of smiling! Also, when he was very young, Brightly's mother taught him how to cook and bake. He became absolutely obsessed with sweets, and eager to cook anything else that his family wanted, or, now, anything that a Redwaller wants. Brightly has a way with words that is surprising considering his I.Q. level. He can charm the wits out of any pretty maid, and can compose eloquent speeches on the spot, though afterwards he cannot tell you what he said, why he said it, or what it meant.
Weaknesses:
Brightly doesn't really understand a lot of things. He'll nod and go along, but that just confuses him even more, and he won't show it. He won't admit it, but many Redwaller's conversations lose him halfway in, and he sometimes sits through hours of talking without the slightest clue what's going on around him.
Brightly can space out and stare at nothing at the most inappropriate moments, such as when someone is talking to him. Also, Brightly is a huge pacifist and won't fight at all.
He is so terrified even at thinking of vermin that he will purposefully leave the room so as not to hear about them.
Brightly isn't the smartest mouse of them all.

Brightly was growing up with his parents and siblings in a little hut near a stream somewhere in Mossflower. However, when he was 7 years old evil vermin came to the hut and burnt it to the ground. Brightly had been out gathering berries when he returned to the ghastly scene and found all of his family dead. He ran away, to Redwall, and was taken in. He's lived there ever since, but is still terrified of all vermin and abhors fighting. Now, he repays the Redwallers with amazing cooking whenever he can, and never missed a single day of smiling for tears for his family.
Relationships:
He considers everyone at Redwall his family as his was killed.
