The sounded of branches cracking was all that could be distinguished at first until a large hare tubled out onto the path. He began to cough as if chokeing as he tumbled towards the gate of redwall. He gently hit the door one time with his fist. "le..."he rasped before collapsing to the ground.

Recu had been easing against the gate when he heard a sound from behind it. Looking around, he didn’t see the gate keeper anywhere. Picking up his stick, he lifted the heavy timbers that locked the gate, and slowly opened it. One look at the hare was all he needed.
Setting his walking staff to the side, he knelt beside the traveler, and touched his shoulder softly.
“Come now, wake ye up, yes? Ye are at yon Abbey, come inside, yes?” he attempted to scoop the hurt creature into his arms to help him inside.

[[Hope ye don't mind me joinin' mates!]]
Skipper was walking to the gatehouse when he noticed the main gates were ajar. Idly tapping the sling tied to his waist, the burly otter trotted over to investigate.
"Rap me rudder, wot's all this?"
He hurried to Recu's side, examining the pitiful figure collapsed before them.
"'ere this creature needs the infirmiry, I'll help ye get him there Recu!"
Skipper easily lifted the hare in his arms and nodded to Recu. "Come on in mate, let's close th' gates."

Recu shifted the weight to Skipper a little more to close and bar the gate, before taking his share back.
“Thank ye Skip. I may be stronger than I look, yes, but I cannot bring him alone, no.” he started his way to the Abbey with the hare and otter, looking over the poor beast to the other dweller.
“I know not what has happened. He turned up outside. Do ye knoweth him, Skip?”
