Kiara`s adventurous spirit got the best for her when she entered Mossflower Woods for she had never been anyplace like this before and was eager to meet a few creatures to add to her friend list, as she did with the other places she traveled to. Kiara had heard some interesting stories about the inhabitants of these woods from others on her travels. Of course she had no idea what stories were true and what was old wise tales. She left home 8 seasons (2 years) ago to explore the world around here, but will one day return home to be with her family.
She was now here for a few days, making a small camp site for herself in a clearing. Usually she’d be gone by now but something about the place made her stay. Just recently, however, she has been getting the strange feeling that she is being watched, by what, she didn’t know. She never sees anything that would tell her that someone is there. .only that feeling of being watched.
It was early one morning that Kiara woke up, feeling the ever watchful eyes on her. She sighed and shook her head, bent on the belief that it was just her mind playing tricks on her, for she had never seen any evidence of another creature around. Kiara got up and shook the due off herself and stretched out and went off taking her bow and quiver of arrows with her to find some food, still feeling the presence around her.

( Mind if I drop in? )
Nura looked around. She was sure she just heard something ahead of her. Quietly, she dropped to all fours, and slowly crept forward, her quarterstaff in hand. In no time at all, she came to a small campsite in a clearing. It looked like somebeast was staying here. Nice enough place, but Nura knew that this was a place of evil. Last year, she had been ambushed by a grass-snake, and fought it off. She saw a trail leading into the woods. The beast who lived here was probably off getting food or drink. Nura made a quick decision to follow them. If they were friend, she would tell them of the danger. If they were foe, well, she hadn't had a good fight in a while. Silently, she sped through the camp, and started following the beast on the trail.

(ooc - no not at all)
Kiara had found what was was looking for, a stream. She filled her canteen with the water and and took a nice long drink. Kiara took out an arrow from her quiver and looked into the water wanting to catch a fish before she headed back to her camp.
Before long, and after a few tries, Kiara had caught two fish and packed her things up, ready to return back to her campsite. She guessed they she'd stay for a few days and catch up on some relaxation before she went on her way again.
When Kiara got neared to her small camp she could hear another beast traveling to-wards her. She got a little nervous, after hearing from beasts on her travels that vermin are known to be lurking in these woods. Kiara took in a deep breath and put the two fish down and got her bow out and notched it with an arrow. She hoped that this creature was good, but she prepared for the worst. "...Hello?.." She called out, slowly spinning in a circle in search of any movement. Her hands equipped with her bow and arrow.

Nura was still crouching down when she heard a greeting called out. Not knowing if it was a friend or a foe, she moved forward cautiously. She soon saw a mouse holding a bow and arrow, and having two fish set down at her feet. Now, Nura hadn't eaten in a while, so when she saw those two big fish, her mouth was almost drooling in anticipation. Then she realized she didn't even know the mouse, and she might not get fish at all. But, fish also meant a water source, probably a stream or a pond nearby. She was also a bit short on water.
But, enough about her own concerns. There was the mouse, who was probably good, but might be allied with evil. Standing up straight, so that the mouse could see her, she replied, "Hello! Friend or Foe!" She kept her hand on her Quaterstaff, but only enough so that it looked like a plain stick in her hands. She had found that surprise was one of the best elements in a fight that you didn't know the situation.

Kiara turned when she heard the voice call back to her and saw that it was a hedgehog. She paused in thought, deciding weather on not that this hedgehog was a vermin or not.
After a short moment, Kiara pointed her arrow to the ground, but didn't disarm her bow, in-case her judgment was wrong. She though that if the hedgehog didn't do anything to attack her as of yet, then it probably wasn't a vermin. "Depends on who you are if I'm a friend or foe." She answered, looking at Nura. "I'm Kiara."

Nura chuckled. That was the flaw in the question. The mouse had pointed it out very nicely. She started to move forward, and said, as she went, "Nura. Nura Thistledown. Nice to meet'cha! So, what's a nice mouse like you doing in these parts of these woods? They're infested with vermin and what-not. I suppose you're armed, but arrows won't do good when someone jumps out of the shadows at'cha!"
By this time, she was standing about a foot or two away from her, and grinned. "I'm just joking with ya! However, this part of the woods is infested with all sorts of vermin and such. I'd watch my back if I were you. Why, just a couple of seasons ago, I was walking through these very selfsame woods, when this grass-snake jumps out of the shadows at me! Quite surprising... Of course, I gave him a thumpin' to remember... There I go ramblin' on again! You want some help caring those fish back to your campsite?"

Kiara smiled as Nura came closer and introduced herself. She nodded, "I'm just passing through. I haven't came across any beast besides you, let alone any vermin." Kiara said and laughed a bit and took out her hidden dagger. "If a vermin decided to spring a surprise attack, I'll be ready." she said and put the dagger back into its hiding place under her clothes.
Kiara nodded "thank you for the warning." She said and smiled at Nura as she told her little tale. "Sure. I'd love some help." She said and got the fish and handed one to Nura. "Two heads are better then one, if by chance we do get attacked." Kiara said and smiled as she led the way back to her small campsite.

She smiled back, and took the fish. When Kiara turned her back, she silently congratulated herself. Free food was always a bonus for Nura. The carrying was only a small trouble. Soon she'd be feasting on fish. The fish was pretty light, so Nura didn't have much trouble catching up to Kiara.
"So, Kiara, where did you say you were from? You don't look like you're from around here..." Nura sked when she got caught up with Kiara. She had always had an inquisitive mind, and inquisitive minds always want to know.

Kiara looked at Nura and smiled. "I didn't say where I was from." She said and giggled. "I come from the far east." Kiara sand, looking at her new friend. "Do you live around here?" She asked as they neared the camp. Kiara was glad to have someone to talk to and keep company for a little while. She was used to being alone because of her travels, of course she did make a few friends as of now.

"Far East, huh? Never been there." Nura thought for a second about it, then continued. "I am a beast from Redwall Abbey, but Wanderlust has always been in my blood. So, now I'm the Redwall Explorer, mapping Mossflower, and the surrounding areas. Like I said, I like to know things, especially what's happening around me. So, what's the Far East like? I've never been around there..." Nura looked around as they eventually returned to the campsite. Last time, she had just registered that it was a campsite before hurrying through to find the owner. Now that she actually had a chance to look at it, she found it to be a cute, humble place. No wonder she had decided to stay here. Too bad about all the vermin who lived around here, though...

Redwall Abbey. Kiara remembered the name of it. She had heard stories from creatures along her travels about the great abbey. Kiara smiled, knowing that if Nura was from this place then she truly was a good beast.
"Where I'm from, it's basically the same as here, only slightly different plants and herbs. and a few different beasts." Kiara said as she set the fish down near where a fire had been. She gather some wood and started to build a fire to cook the fish. "Nura, would you mind getting the fish ready to cook while I go and get some more wood for the fire?" Kiara asked as she got up, looking at the hedgehog. She just hoped that Nura was wrong about the vermin...at-least for today.

"Sure," she said. She had had some inner anger building up in her for a while. Gutting fish should solve it. Taking out her knife, she went to the first fish. Quickly, and with precision, she chopped off its head and tail, then slit it from where its head was to where its tail was. She then cleaned the guts out, and set them aside. Moving on to the next fish, she then did the same.
With both the fish successfully cleaned, Nura sat back and relaxed. Folding her arms, she looked down, and realized how gutsy her hands were. She looked down at them in disgust for about a second, then proceeded to wipe them off on the grass below her feet. She held them before her face again. ~Still digusting, but better than before,~ she thought. ~I can always wash them in the stream before we eat.~

Kiara nodded and watched Nura start the fish. She then turned and left to get wood for the fire that would cook the fish. she figured that she didn't need much wood, seeing as they only needed to cook two fish.
Kiara thought as she gathered the wood. She didn't know if Nura was the one that she felt was around or not. Nura sure didn't say anything about being around and watching her. If it wasn't the hedgehog what was watching her, she hoped that whoever it was, was gone now after seeing her with Nura.
when she had gotten the wood needed she returned to her campsite. She set the wood down and arranged it then started to light the fire. "I got two sticks we and stick the fish on and cook then over the fire." Kiara sand and turned to her new friend.

Nura nodded as she watched the fire get started. She loved to see the flames flicker, but didn't always get a chance to make a fire on her travels. She was usually eating on the go, or not eating at all. To finally have a cooked meal, it was almost like heaven.
When the fire was started, Nura took a stick and one of the fish. She did it at a normal speed, even though her hungry body was telling her to go at least twice at fast. Slowly, she stuck the fish on the end of the stick, then stuck it in the fire. "So, Kiara, where did you say you were going?"

After the fire was going at a steady rate, Kiara sat back and put her fish on the remaining stick and started to cook it. She smiled, having someone to share a meal with and talk to. She was starting to get a little lonely. Kiara knew she was hungry to eat both fish, but if that meant eating the two fish while Nura had none, she wouldn't feel right.
"...No where in particular." Kiara said, answering Nura's question. "Where every the wind blows me." She smiled and turned to her friend. "Do you live around here?" She asked, wanting to know if it was Nura that she had felt...or someone else. If Nura did live here, it most likely was her.
