Please note. These do not grant staff status with the exception of Mountain Lord. Members of the Long Patrol please request a rank as it will allow RPing to proceed more smoothly. (I.E Orders.) Please keep in mind your character's age when applying for a position, it is highly unreasonable that a four year old hare would lead the Long Patrol.

Please also note the Chain of Command - the Lower Ranks actually tend to get more of the footwork done, Ranks higher than Captain tend to stay behind - bar all out assaults.

Keep these ages in mind... these are approximations, but they're good to keep in mind.

Isn't a Brigadier below a colonel? 'Cause, wasn't Colonel Clary a higher rank than Brigadier Thyme?

Brigadier is one rank up from Colonel and just below General. I'm not sure how BJ portrayed the ranks in his stories since I haven't touched a Redwall story in about...Four years(Since a new story washes up on my shores every so often.)

Ash, I just thought you might like to know the order of the specific Redwall (I am assuming British) ranks, from highest to lowest:

You can also look this up on Wikipedia since that's a place where I got some info.

Surprisingly enough, though, there is no Master Sergeant on the list of ranks on Wikipedia. Quatermaster Sergeant used to be a rank, though.

Also, Brian Jacques uses Colour Sergeant instead of Staff Sergeant, Corporal instead of Bombardier, and Lance Corporal instead of Lance Bombardier, so I think the ranks should be:

Lieutenant implies a rank of second in command to that particular rank. A vice-captain or something similar if I recall correctly.

The list is actually a bunch of military sounding words strung together from a previous list that a member two sites over made for me. From there I modified as I went along, using my rudimentry knowledge; I've actually had some time in military service XD(Nothing major, youth stuff.). But that probably doesn't work too well since my knowledge is primarily the Australian Defense forces.

I'll fill in most of the gaps that've you've pointed out and fix what needs to be fixed. But my primary concern is that we simply haven't got a huge community, so the list is fairly broad.

Though I will modify and put it together with some more string. Thanks.

Yes Prankster that's quite reasonable.

26 is a bit young for Brigadier - their basically in command of over one thousand hares, that's quite a feat for a 26 year old. Colonel is doable if the hare is quite prodigious and mature for their age - by that I mean the equivalent of a 40 year old at least. Colonels command a battalion - which is a fair few companies(100 soldiers).

But that's the real world, in Redwall I go under the assumption that there's only two or so thousand hares.

So eh, just work under that kind of scale.
