Drecas hopped nimbly from rock to rock, his sandals clacking on the solid stone each time he landed, making the ground around him jiggle slightly. He was traversing the marshlands his usual way: using sunken rocks to traverse the unstable ground without getting muddy. He had to be quick, however, because the rocks sank quickly beneath even his light frame. He had been hopping from rock to rock for a good few minutes now, glancing around occasionally to scout out any herbs he could use. His gaze caught a particularly beautiful and rare looking flower in the distance. His gaze, however, also caught the fact that between his footpaws and the flower, there were no rocks. Still, the ground looked dry and cracked, and by his guess, it would be able to support his weight just long enough for him to reach the flower, take a cutting to research at home, and get back to a rock safely and hopefully dry. Besides, the rock beneath his feet was still sinking, and he would need to preserve it long enough to be able to make his safe return. Without further hesitation, he leapt towards the driest looking ground... and landed successfully. He knew he hadn't much time, and that every move he made would soon make water well up from beneath the ground and turn it to mud quickly, so he started walking slowly towards the flower, shifting the weight carefully between his sandalled footpaws. ((Feel free to come in, just watch your step! ))

((Nowhere else to post, so I'll post with ye! And I didn't mean that in a bad way or nothin' XD))
Wynn scowled himself for letting the mouse get away, and he even had to run away to get away from the weasel and the hare. He gasped in a deep breath of air as he touched the large wound on his back, about an inch deep and from the base of his neck to the base of his tail. He dabbed at the blood that flowed out form it with a leaf and shook his head to get the darkness out of his vision. He knew he may die if he didn't get somebeast to help him. He sighed as he sat in the tree above the marshlands.
He perked his ears as he heard some clattering on the rocks below, and watched the red squirrel jumping from rock to rock, looking to the going to the flower. His swords and daggers clanged as he stood up and smiled. A medicine pouch! He waited until he landed onto some ground before jumping through a couple trees, and then jumped down in front of the squirrel, smiling, with a couple swords, three daggers, and a bow and quiver full of arrows.

Drecas jumped back slightly, startled at the fox's sudden appearance. "W-who are you?" the squirrel asked, "Do you need assistance?" Drecas shifted uneasily, unsure whether the fox was aware that the both of them were standing on ground which would soon turn to quicksand, faster now due to the fox's added weight. "I can help you, but now is not the time. We need to head to solid ground, quickly."
The unstable ground beneath the squirrel's footpaws was glistening with moisture, and the thick wooden soles of his sandals was sinking slightly. He struggled slightly to pull out his left foot before it got too deep, the mud releasing the sandal with a sickly plop. his right sandal began to sink into the now quivering ground.

The fox nodded quickly and lifted his bare footpaws from the ground. He ran as fast as he could towards the flower and stopped when he felt his paws touch dry ground. He looked back to the squirrel and called out to him. "Is this the flower you want?" And without and answer, he dug around the ground, taking some soil and the roots he picked it up witht eh clump of ground on the bottom, which he held onto as to not break the stem. He stood up and fell onto his rump from the lack of blood. He breathed a little harder, and eventually got up, but having to lean against a tree for support.

The squirrel said "Yep, that's the one", although he was too busy trying to stop his feet from sinking to notice too much of what was going on. Once he had stabilised himself, he noticed the fox leaning against a tree for support. Without further hesitation he nimbly made a dash across the surface of the mud in order to assist the fox. Knowing already what was wrong with the fox, he pulled out a bottle of potion, which he applied to a bandage, before bandaging up the fox's wound. As he did so he said, "This potion should help numb the pain, as well as speeding the healing of the wound. Don't worry, you might feel dizzy just now, but once we get you to the infirmary, you'll be able to rest and you should recover normally." He smiled. This ground was more solid, but they'd have to make a brisk trip back through the unstable quicksand-like ground that was the Marsh's most notorious claim to fame.

Wynn sighed with relief as the squirrel bandaged him up. Standing up, he shook his head and scratched his head until he realized what the squirrel had said. "The infirmary?! B-but I just ran away from Redwall... I can't go back!" He sighed and shook his head. "I suppose I hafta go, so come on. I know this neck of the woods pretty clearly. He craned his head to look at the kind helper. "You do climb trees right?" He jumped up into a tree and smiled down to him. "I mean, c'mon, you're a squirrel!" he laughed with his teen youth and jumped to another tree and waited for the squirrel to catch up.

"Sure do," the squirrel said, "I tend to wander around at ground level in order to look more closely for herbs, but now is not the time to be doing that." He scampered up the tree, slipping slightly on the way up as his mud caked sandals made him lose grip on a couple of occasions. He rested on the branch, his sandals still slipping slightly from the mud. This probably isn't going to end well, he thought to himself, but it's worth a try.

Wynn nodded and jumped to another tree, just to jump to another one. He decided to ask the squirrel some questions. "So, what's your name?" He asked. He decided that it would be most important above all else. He stopped on a branch, and started to breath heavily again. It didn't hurt as bad, but moving all around may upset the cut and make it take longer to heal. He cough into his paw and wiped it onto the black cloak he wore over his black tunic. He waited again for the squirrel, and stood poised in case something happened.

Drecas followed, surprisingly enough making the two jumps, albeit not as gracefully as the fox. "My name is Drecas 'Rehvis. I'm in charge of the Abbey Infirmary so you're in good paws." He shifted from side to side, shaking as much mud off of each sandal as he could. He looked down below at the deceptively stable looking ground, shuddered slightly, and looked back up at the fox. "So what's your name then, since you so nicely asked me the same question?" He smiled, waiting patiently for the answer.

Wynn smiled to Drecas as he shook the mud off. "So I suppose that makes you Brother Drecas, right?" He asked him. He jumped over to the tree that the squirrel was in and stood as straight as he could. "M'name's Wynn Jimpala Simorgh. Former orphan, then Redwaller, now an err.... Wanderer." He looked away shyly, not wanting the kind one to know that he hunted Vermin for his living. He sighed and shook his head. "My don't ye just take off the sandals?" He asked, shaking his left foot paw with no sandal on it for emphasis. "Then ye don't hafta worry about stuff like mud getting on it."

The squirrel shrugged. "I come from Reguba Hollow," he said, "I don't really see myself as a Brother. I just contributed to the Infirmary through my research and herb gathering, and they've given me the title of Infirmary Keeper, so that I can continue to help the injured," He shook his head, "I'm a pacifist myself, I don't actively help make decisions on what the Redwallers should do in the event of a threat, I just tend to those wounded who wouldn't threaten to kill me after they got back on their feet." He looked down at his own sandalled feet. "I've become accustomed to wearing these for a long time," He said in response to the fox suggesting he take them off, "And besides, they're quite securely attached." He pointed out the numerous straps on his sandals, making them appear more like open-toed shoes than the more simple sandals worn by some Redwallers. "These things were made to withstand most protruding objects above ground and under the mud, that might otherwise leave me limping. And I'm sure having a squirrel limping towards you offering his help doesn't bring up the image of a very reliable healer, am I right?" He smiled a little, hoping the fox might appreciate his little light-hearted joke.

Wynn nodded. "I've heard of Reguba Hollow. Never been there though. And they do look pretty demanding." He alughed at his joke and nodded a little. "You are right. That wouldn't be very helpful." He jumped to the next tree in the way to the Abbey. "Well come on then, if you're going to get me to Redwall, you'd want to do it no before it gets too dark." He said.

Drecas nodded, and followed Wynn, hopping from tree to tree over the treacherous quicksand. The squirrel knew that this wouldn't be the only time he'd be visiting the marshes. There was much more herbs to be found, and perhaps he might try getting some marsh gas to help burn out the impurities in his potions. But all that would be for later. Now, he had to get the fox into the infirmary, and check that flower again... That reminds me..., the squirrel thought. "Erm, excuse me, uhh... Wynn," Drecas said to Wynn, "Do you still have that flower I was going to pick up? I heard you asking me if it was a particular flower I was trying to pick, but I was too preoccupied on not getting stuck that I hadn't time to notice."

Wynn nodded and smiled. "Of course I do!" He said nicely. He reached into his cloak where there was an inside pocket on the side which he put there himself. Pulling from it he showed Drecas the flower, holding it by the roots and soil at the bottom. He pushed it towards him, while looking at the plant in fascination. "D'you know what it does? Or what it's called?" He asked the squirrel curiously.

The squirrel, quite honestly, shook his head. "I don't know this particular plant..."Delicately, Drecas took the flower, and examined it carefully, looking at its six beautiful petals, each a different but vibrant colour. After a small pause, he added onto his last sentence, "...yet." As he carefully put it in his herb pouch, he explained, "I have a book of herbs that I keep safely in my office back at the Infirmary. After I've cross-checked it, I'll know what it is, and any beneficial or detrimental properties it might have. All of that is providing it's been recorded before. Other than that, I would have to examine the plant more carefully to find out what part of it is the most useful. After all, not all herbs have their petals or leaves as the most beneficial part." He nodded to Wynn. "I want to thank you for having the initiative to take the whole flower. I had no idea what was going through my head to make me think that cutting it would do me any good."

Wyn shrugged absently and smiled. "Yeah well, I figured that the roots could be of some use, and they may have some special property that would help with a differant herb to create something that would be useful in the future." He tapped his head and smiled some more. "It plans to think ahead." He smiled at him and patted his back. "Sounds like a lot of work ye've gotta go. How about while I'm still at Redwall, I help you document the stuff before I leave off again?"

Drecas nodded. "That would be handy, thanks for offering to help! I understand that you had probably been intending to be somewhere else before you had been wounded, so I won't keep you in the Infirmary any longer than you need to be. Might be two or three days just to make sure that you're doing fine. I take it you lost a good bit of blood from that wound, but you don't look unconscious to me so your body should be able to naturally replace the blood you had lost. As a precautionary measure I should advise you to drink lots of fluid and talk with one of the nurses if you're feeling dizzy." He looked around, before adding with a nervous laugh, "But I ramble. We should head on, like you say it's getting dark."

Wynn just cocked his head and quirked a brow. "I understood just about nothin' you said, besides that staying for two to three days. But I won't mind, I'll get to see Aeoris and Aeorys again!" He smiled gleefully at the idea and jumped to another tree. "C'mon! Hury up!" he shouted back to him. He smiled as he looked over some shorter trees and saw the outside walls of Redwall Abbey in the distance. 'I'm comin' back home.[/b]' He thought to himself.
