Night had fallen early upon the dark forest of Mossflower.

Not even the moon or the stars could shine through the dark clouds that shadowed the land.

The billowing snow and the biting wind make traveling unbearable as you struggle to take even a step in the waist deep snow. With your thin cloak your only protection against the cold, you need to get out of the weather before you freeze to death, ice clinging to your whiskers and toes.

The only place of shelter for you is a large red stoned building. Its walls are tall and old, but a sense of peace overwhelms you as you approach. It sits in the middle of the woods next to a well traveled path. As you knock on the gigantic door, a kindly mouse dressed in a brown habit opens it with a smile. Ushering you inside the warm walls, the mouse wraps a warm blanket around your shoulders.

“Welcome weary traveler to Redwall Abbey. Take your load off and warm your body by the fire in the Cavern Hole with a warm drink. Your seat has been waiting for you. But you must hurry! For soon, the stories will start! Tales of times past, of strong warriors and evil villains, of peaceful travelers and traitorous thieves. Here dreams become reality and fiction becomes truth. What will your story be? Will you undertake a daring quest, or will you solve puzzling riddles at home? Will good conquer evil, or will malevolence rule the day? Only time will tell. Come and enter in, for now is your time. Live YOUR Legend!”
