OOC: Please feel free to hop in as "The padding paws" (As long as you ask first ) BIC: Sparhawk was at a loss, literally. Now you'd think that a squirrel like Sparhawk couldn't get lost, but you'd be wrong. In Mossflower everything looked the same and the trees are so tall that if he weren't a squirrel Spar wouldn't even know what direction he was going in. To get back to the point though, Spar had been in Mossflower for almost a week now not knowing where to find other beasts. It was getting to be late summer and Sparhawk needed to find somebeast or somewhere, to tell him where he was. If he even had a landmark to go by he would know where he was. It's not that the weather was bad, quite the opposite, it was a lovely time to be out of doors, if you had doors that is! The endless expanse of trees was starting to get on Spar's nerves! He just wished he would come upon a creature any creature! With a jolt he came to a stop, there was the sound of padding paws in front of him. He quickly climbed a short way up an oak tree standing right next to him. In spite of his eagerness to find somebeast, he wouldn't blindly rush to meet this creature that was coming his way. So he decided to play it safe and just watch at present.

Kayleigh knew Mossflower Wood like the back of her paw. Apparently the beast she was tracking did not. She was following it mainly out of curiosity rather than wanting to catch it. She hadn't been sent on any scouting mission lately so in her leisure time she decided to do what she did best.
She giggled as she followed the creature at a safe distance. Its track wound round and round the forest never seeming to come to an end. It wasn't strange for a creature to be lost in such a large forest. The only thing she found odd was that, judging by the paw-prints, this was one of her own species. A squirrel like herself.
Gradually she became bored of meandering through the forest aimlessly. She decided to confront the beast herself. Quickly she looped around till she was in front of the creature and walking toward him. She didn't try to walk quietly anymore. If she was going to she this beast she didn't need to hide from it. When she got close enough for it to hear her coming she saw it dash quickly up an oak tree. Yes, it was a squirrel alright. She stopped at the base of the tree and looked up. "Hello! You're lost aren't you?" She called, "Do you need help?" She waited for this beast to come down and reply to her.

"Hello! You're lost aren't you?" "Do you need help?"
"Yeah I'm lost, but how do I know I can trust you?"
Spartiss isn't a mistrustful squirrel by nature, but getting lost was not setting well with him.
"Sorry, I'm just a little wound up at the moment, I don't usually get lost! I know the woods for about a league in any direction around my home. But I'm not within a league of my house."
He grinned a little and dropped out of the tree.
"Me oh my, I'm really forgetting my manners, if from a a beautiful maiden too! My name's Spartiss Farsight, at yer service."
He made an elegant leg and saluted with his sword.

She listened to the male squirrel speak. Well... he didn't seem to trust her very much. But if he did need help she might offer it... maybe...
He dropped out of the tree and she looked him over as he continued to speak.
"Me oh my, I'm really forgetting my manners, if from a a beautiful maiden too! My name's Spartiss Farsight, at yer service."
She found herself rather pleased at the way he acted. She returned his salute with a slight curtsy and smiled at him. "And I'm Kayleigh Swifteye, Spy and Tracker by trade." She rested both paws on the hilts of her two matching daggers at either side of her. "Now..." She said. "I guess I can help you if you really want. I mean, since you're a squirrel in all I wouldn't mind helping you... For free I suppose." She said with a slight smile.

Spar grinned at her as he sheathed his sword.
"And I'm Kayleigh Swifteye, Spy and Tracker by trade." "Now..." "I guess I can help you if you really want. I mean, since you're a squirrel in all I wouldn't mind helping you... For free I suppose."
"You don't say?" He said with a hint of sarcasm. "Do you usually charge for helping a pooor beast like me? You know you don't really need to put your paws on your daggers, I've no intention of hurting you. So you're a spy ya say, who for? I mean, do you just hire out or something?"
Angry storm clouds were moving in from the south as Spar was talking,
"I think we'd better get under cover, this storm will hit any minute now!"

"You don't say? Do you usually charge for helping a pooor beast like me?"
"Ahh... Yes sir, Ah'm sorry for what may have seemed, outwardly, to be a rather hasty and rash comment. It's just, I'm not use to seeing beasts like you around here very often. An' sure ah'll not charge ye'... It wouldn't be right." She smiled at the squirrel.
"You know you don't really need to put your paws on your daggers, I've no intention of hurting you."
"And as for the paws on my dagger hilts?"... She continued, "Tis' merely habit, no offense ah'm sure?"
"So you're a spy ya say, who for? I mean, do you just hire out or something?"
Kayleigh nodded "Ah'll hire out, to vermin and goodbeasts alike. I take no sides thusfar."
"I think we'd better get under cover, this storm will hit any minute now!"
"Aye, your right." She said glancing around quickly. "Come on!" She said spotting a cave nearby that was under the shelter of a cliff ledge. She ran toward it glancing back to make sure he was following.
Once they got inside the cave she ran out quickly and gathered a bunch of dry wood before the downpour started. She back into the cave and set it down. After removing tinder and other various objects from a sack on her back she started a fire and sat down next to it.
She took off the belt that her two daggers hung on and put it on the ground next to her. She took off her shortsword and sack as well. She leaned back on the ground and blinked lazily at the fire.

Spar laid his bow and sword down on the ground next to the fire Kayleigh had lit and put his rucksack down on top of them to make a pillow for his head.
"I think we should get a nap in until this rain is done, Mistress Kayleigh. So if you don't mind, I think I'll do just that!"
Spartiss dozed off and slept for about an hour before waking up again. The rain was still pouring down, but Kay and Spar were nice and snug in their little cave. He sat up rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Sooooo tell abouuut yourself Kayleigh, where do you live and come from?" Spar said through a yawn.

She nodded and snuggled down next to the fire. She curled herself into a tight little ball and drew her black cape over her.
...
When she woke up in the morning she blinked her eyes open slowly. She felt the damp cold of the downpour seeping past her fur. It sent a little shiver down her spine. She sat up and drank in the clear, cool, morning air.
"Sooooo tell abouuut yourself Kayleigh, where do you live and come from?"
She turned to face the male squirrel and tilted her head to one side. She had her bushy red tail draped over her lap. After a reflective pause she answered. "Well... It's not much of a history or a background. I've always lived in Mossflower, thats how I know my way around here... I don't live in any one place. I don't know if I like that or not. But... oh well, It's the most I can do just to wander around and find food. It's gets slightly dull at times." She twitched her little red ears and paused. "What about you Sir?"

"I grew up here in Mossflower. Not a very eventful life I know, but I'm out here now so I guess that's all that counts"
He replied with a rueful grin.
OOC: Sorry, dumb little post I know but I don't have time at the moment.

"Well yes," nodded the small red squirrel, "I know what you mean." She stood up and the cloak around her rustled in the wind. She stared outside mournfully. "I guess there's no way I'm going out anywhere today. Too bad. I was planning on doing a bit of traveling."
Apparently her mind then switched to something else. She walked over to her bag and rummaged through it. She let out a little sigh of frustration when she saw the only food she had was old cheese and nuts. "Haven't eaten since yesterday morn'..." she muttered. She took out half a flask of elderberry wine and took a small drink. She offered the bottle to Spar. "I don't have much of anything, but are you hungry, thirsty?"

"Me oh my, where are my manners! Here I should have offered you food earlier!" So saying he dug into his pack and brought out some bread, nice soft nut cheese, a couple berry scones and some blackberry cordial! "I always travel well stocked." Spar explained with a rueful grin. "Here you can have as much as you like! Where are you traveling to?"

She took the offered food, she was famished but she received it politely. "Thank you," she said nodding her red furred head. "It's been a while since I've had something like this," She said after taking a sip from the flask of blackberry cordial.
"I don't suppose you've heard of Redwall have you?" she said presently. "I've only seen the outside of the place but I've heard wonderful stories about it. I've been planning on going there for sometime, but I'm not sure the abbey-creatures would accept me." She paused thinking over something. "I do suppose we have to get you home first though, do we?"
