Nightmare, Oh what a nightmare......

[Rorgus]

Rorgus was lying in the sand next to the water. He could feel the sun beat down on him. He was starting to get uncomfortable.

A while later he woke up and looked about. He felt the pain surging through him, and he felt the cool sand under him, it was soothing his back which had a big gash which was bleeding slowly. He groaned
"What happened? I need water." He was very dry and parched,he just wanted to move into the shallows so the water would cool his back. He tried moving but gave up. He whispered to Silenis.
" Move me to the water so I can cool my back."He let his head droop on his chest and began thinking of his mother and sister.

He decided when he was better he would go visit them for a while, h hoped Silenis and Travi would come with him. He hoped somebeast would notice the bleeding so they could stop it before he lost to much blood. He was too weak to talk, and to dry.

"Ah'm sorry. I was just worried about you two."

Worried? About 'im?Travi thought to himself. Not many creatures got too worried about him. At least, not alot. Travi looked over at Rorgus, and his brow furrowed. The sand beneath him was starting to leek red, like blood. "Dat's not good." Travi murmured to himself. Travi pushed himself up as he continued to look over Rogues.

"Kay then, I guess... well.... I don't know... what do you think we should do now? Will Rorgus be fine just waiting like this till he wakes up again? It seems like we should do something."

"Aye, we should da do somet'ing. 'ere try ta 'elp me roll 'im over." Travi said still looking over Rorgus. It was then that Rorgus awakened again and began talking.

"What happened? I need water."

"Looks like when dat varmint got ya 'e cut ye abit wit' 'is fin. Sit still naw mate. We'll get ye some water." Travi looked up to see his hat and belt still hanging from the tree. Just what he needed! "Oy, Silenis. Can ye grab me 'at? If ye soak it in da water, ye can drain some water in 'is mouth."

" Move me to the water so I can cool my back."

"Good idea mate. 'Ere Silenis, 'elp me move 'im." With Silenis's help, he would be able to move Rorgus to the water. In the water, Travi could see that the cut wasn't too bad, but it would need cleaning. Travi looked around and saw the same kitchen maid he had tripped earlier walking on the grounds. He yelled over to her. "Oy mate! We need ye ta grab some bandages and 'erbs s'arp naw. Dis mate's bleedin"!"

The mousemaid boldly walked over to Travi and began berating him again. " You silly otter! What did you do! Dragging up that dead fish so we could all smell it, and then playing around that somebeast got hurt! How low can you go huh?Why I....."

It was then that Travi interrupted, the mousemaid trying to raise up the issue of Rorgus." Naw marm ah ain't jokin' 'es bleedin'! See!"

"There you continue with this charade! Why don't you just..." Then the mousemaid saw the cut on Rorgus' back and blanched.
"I'll go get some bandages.." She said as she ran off toward the Abbey building. Good, Travi thought as he tried to clean Rorgus's cut

[Elizabeth]

Rorgus: "What happened? I need water."

Silenis ran over to the tree and grabbed his hat off the branch. She ran back to the water and was able to get some water to Rorgus before he said.

Rorgus: " Move me to the water so I can cool my back."

Silenis nodded.

Travi: "Good idea mate. 'Ere Silenis, 'elp me move 'im."

She helped Travi get Rorgus to the water and bathed his wounds with Travi's hat. Soon the same mousemaid she had conversed with earlier arrived. She and Travi had another little talk that was pointlessly long. "Hopeless..." Silenis muttered and rolled her eyes. She didn't really like that mousemaid's attitude. To stuck up and prissy to be of any use at all. FINNALY she went for the bandages. "About time." Silenis said, tapping her long tail impatiently.

When the mousemaid came back Silenis took the bandages and thanked her, politely enough. She had traveled on her own for quite some time and wasn't to bad at applying bandages. She took the cloths in her paws, and after cleaning the wounds thoroughly, wrapped the bandages around them. "It's not perfect." She said to Travi, "But it's fine for now." She sat back for a while wondering what to do as she watched the sun's reflection on the surface of the abbey pond...

[Rorgus]

Rorgus stirred and groaned. He was lying on the dry sand with bandages on his back. He looked around and saw Silenis and Travi sitting beside him. He tried to move but was too weak. He was sweating under the hot sun. He figured it was about noon and he was getting hungry.
" Move me too the shade." He croaked from dry lips. When they moved him he tried to sit up against the tree but failed to do so, he just lay there waiting.

He felt better after his sleep under he tree. He wanted to be moved inside where it was cool and he could have some food. He was glad he had made new friends. He liked Silenis and Travi and hoped they could travel together sometime. After a while he dozed off in the shade.

"About time."

Silenis muttered as the mousemaid came up to Travi and her with a pawful of bandages. She muttered a quiet apology as Silenis thanked her and began bandaging Rorgus. She then left with haste as Travi glared at her. She 'ad dat comin' he thought to himself as he watched Silenis apply the bandages. She was fairly good. When she finished, she turned to Travi and spoke.

"It's not perfect. But it's fine for now."

Travi nodded. "Aye, 'E'll be fine fur naw." He was about to make another comment when Rorgus stirred and spoke through cracked lips.

" Move me too the shade."

Travi nodded to Rorgus and glanced over to Silenis as he picked one side of Rorgus up and began to drag him into the shade of the tree his belt was still on. Although Travi's body was week from it's sudden fight with the greyling, he had enough strength to drag Rorgus into the shade, where after trying to sit up, fell asleep.

Travi sat down next to the sleeping Rorgus. Looking up he pulled his belt off the tree branch and put it back on. Today had not been a good day for him . Laying back against the tree, Travi looked over at Silenis. He wondered how she was taking all of this. It probably was not what she was expecting the always peaceful Redwall to be like. Not knowing what to say to Silenis, Travi closed his eyes abit, hoping that the day could just start over......

[Elizabeth]

" Move me too the shade."

Travi looked at her and she got the hint. She helped Travi drag Rorgus over to the shade. Rorgus fell asleep from exhaustion. At least that's a lot better than him being awake and in pain. Silenis thought to herself.

She sighed. She hoped she would get to see Redwall when it was peaceful and everybeast was healthy and happy. Then she had a thought... She turned to Travi who was sitting next to her. "The Abbey isn't always like this is it? This just happened to happen when I happened along right? Is this all by chance or am I mistaken?"

One week later

Rorgus felt a lot better now and could walk around. His wound still had a scar but t was healing. He was about ready to go back to his Holt and see his mother and sister. He was taking his morning stroll around the abbey. Then ending up in the kitchens for his breakfast.

When Travi and Silenis were awake he went to see them.
" I am going to my Holt near the River Moss to see my mother and sister..... And I was wondering if you two wanted to come with me?"

He hoped they would say yes. He had his haversack ready and was already to leave when he asked them.

"The Abbey isn't always like this is it? This just happened to happen when I happened along right? Is this all by chance or am I mistaken?"

Travi opened his eyes and looked over at Silenis as she spoke. The day hadn't started over....Drat....

Travi looked over the great walls of Redwall before he answered. The sun gleamed off their red quartz stone, making them flush with their rosy red color, making them appear even more magnificent. Sighing to himself, Travi responded.

"Redwall Abbey be a peaceful place. Full o' calm, but dere always be an adventure o'somesort goin' on. Sometime does adventures be fun contests ore mysterious doors. Ot'ertimes dey be a bit more dangerous, like dis un. Saw t'is aint' ye." With in his heart, Travi continued thinking, T'is mea.

With that Travi closed his eyes again, hoping that this time it would all go away.............

One week later

Travi had tried to be on his best behavior after the pond incident with Silenis and Rorgus, or at least, when ever Silenis and Rorgus were around. He had already been pulled aside by some of the elders privately to be praised for heroism and berated for stupidity at the same time, so he didn't want to push his luck. Plus, with him trying to be on his best behavior, it put the entire Abbey on edge like he was planning something big, and that was funny within its self.

Travi had come down for breakfast and once again came across Silenis and Rorgus. Snagging a bowl of oatmeal with hotroot pepper sprinkled in it, he sat down and began to eat when Rorgus spoke.

" I am going to my Holt near the River Moss to see my mother and sister..... And I was wondering if you two wanted to come with me?"

The oatmeal turned to ash in Travi's mouth. Sallowing the mouthful very slowly. Travi tired to find the words to answer Rorgus. Travi would love to go! He loved to go out into Mossflower on an adventure with friends that the elders wouldn't be able to complain about! However....he knew how unpredictable he could become if...if.....No! That wouldn't happen. He couldn't let that happen.

Speaking rather quietly, Travi mumbled, "Ah ain't sure ah'd be da rig't beast fur dat job...." Putting the spoon back into the bowl, Travi push the bowl away. Something he never did, unless he was really upset. Looking up at Rorgus an Silenis, he waited for a response from either of them.

[Elizabeth]

One week later

Rorgus was healing up and that was good. She noticed Travi was trying to be on his best behavior but sometimes his attempts were treated differently be Redwallers. All in all, everything seemed good. To Silenis these were the best of times. Getting to know Redwallers. Hanging around the kitchens whenever she smelled hotroot. Teasing the abbey dibbuns and playing with them. She saw now what Travi meant. She silently missed some of her old adventurous life though.

On one particular fine morning Silenis had forced herself up out of bed and walked drowsily downstairs in her redwaller's habit. Smelling breakfast cooking and hearing the voices of happily congregating redwallers, she made her way to the table. Grabbing her oatmeal and dumping the entire remaining contents of a container of hotroot on it she spotted her otter friends and sat down next to them.

" I am going to my Holt near the River Moss to see my mother and sister..... And I was wondering if you two wanted to come with me?" Rorgus said.

This was a perfect chance to get out and do something. Rorgus was a very nice otter and she was sure the rest of his family would be charming.

"Ah ain't sure ah'd be da rig't beast fur dat job...."

Her eyes narrowed as she glanced over at Travi with a playful glare, She really wasn't surprised at his answer. It was just like her first day with the two, and Travi's reluctance to go out for a swim. Ahh... Typical Travioso. She nudged Travi with her elbow. "Come on mate. You're the perfect beast for the job. You know you want to go, I can tell. Now be polite and tell Mr. Rorgus that you'd love to come." She turned to Rorgus. "I'm in if this little rouge is." She said with a side-glance toward Travi.

[Rorgus]

"I'm in if this little rouge is."

Rorgus smiled "well ts up to you Travi. I would be more than happy to have come along." He sat down next to them and too up a bowl of oatmeal and began eating.
" You'll have to decide soon because I'm leaving as soon as you do. and want to get there before lunch." Secretly he knew Travi would come, he would just make it sound like he didn't really want to.
"Ah'm sure mah Mum and Sis would love to meet you!" With that he stood up and said.
" 'll wait for you at the pond." He walked out smiling to himself.

Silenis gave Travi a playful look and an elbow as she and Rorgus spoke.

"Come on mate. You're the perfect beast for the job. You know you want to go, I can tell. Now be polite and tell Mr. Rorgus that you'd love to come. I'm in if this little rouge is."

"well ts up to you Travi. I would be more than happy to have come along. You'll have to decide soon because I'm leaving as soon as you do. and want to get there before lunch. Ah'm sure mah Mum and Sis would love to meet you!"

Travi looked down at his unfinished oatmeal, and thought. He really should, he couldn't let Rorgus and Silenis down....But what if...NO! He would just have to not let that happen. Scarfing down the rest of his oatmeal and sallowing as not to talk with his mouthful he replied.

"Alrig't mates. Ah'll go."

" 'll wait for you at the pond."

Travi watched Rorgus walk off. Then he turned to Silenis." Guess Ah'll be a gettin' mea stuff." Travi mumbled. And with that Travi walked up to the Dormitories and opened the cupboard that held his belongings.

Picking up his bow, Travi paused. He had to bring it. There's no taking chances in Mossflower. But what would Rorgus and Silenis think if they knew and saw what he was capable off....Shruging off the fact, Travi continued to shove his knapsack full of this things and shouldered it along with his bow, quiver and traveling cloak.

Walking swiftly back down the stars, Travi took a quick turn in the kitchen before heading outside. Next to the door he found three, fully packed, haversacks full of Redwall traveling goodies. Looking up into the eyes of the cook in charge told him the staff had been listening. Giving the cook a bow of gratitude, which h stunned the cook anemically, Travi snatched up the three sacks and trudged out to the pond, looking for Rorgus and Silenis. He hoped he hadn't kept them waiting.....

[Elizabeth]

"well ts up to you Travi. I would be more than happy to have come along. You'll have to decide soon because I'm leaving as soon as you do. and want to get there before lunch. Ah'm sure mah Mum and Sis would love to meet you!"

"Alrig't mates. Ah'll go."

"Thank you Travi!" Said Silenis with a smile. "Thanks for deciding to come matey."

" 'll wait for you at the pond."

"We'll meet you there Rorgus!" She called after him as him left the abbey building.

" Guess Ah'll be a gettin' mea stuff."

"Okay Travi," Silenis said with a smile, "Good for you! I'll have to collect my things to." She stood up from the table and ran upstairs to her room. She took off her habit and put on her highlander/Green Isle garb. It was the first time she had worn it since coming to the abbey. Grabbing what few possessions she owned she threw them in her bag and went out to the pond.

"I'm ready now." She said to Rorgus. They waited a bit for Travi but he turned up shortly. "Shall we go then mates?" she asked.

Rorgus was delighted that they agreed to go. He knew they would have a great time. When Travi arrived they set off through the big gates.

The day they set off for Rorgus' Holt was a bit cloudy but nonetheless it was a good day for it. Rorgus hoped they would be happy at his home. He knew his mother and sister would be delighted to meet them. And being rather lonely with Rorgus gone they would be glad to have company.
