Name: Mako
Species: Ferret
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Occupation: Mercenary; Assassin; Occassional Marauder
Appearance: Mako may be on the shorter side of the average ferret, but that doesn't make him any less of a ferret. Although he is about a head shorter then the average ferret, otter, weasel, rat, whatever, he is taller then some squirrels, mice, and definitely shrews. His build is slight, not all out, rock hard abs or anything, just a normal frame with long, but muscular legs, and arms that carry much muscle, but can only really be seen when he flexes.
Mako's face is slim, with normal cheekbones, and sapphire blue pools that make up his eyes. Over all, Mako would be a very handsome ferret, if it wasn't for the long scar traveling from above his eye, and traveling down, stopping at the eye, and then starting again to travel underneath the eye. The scar is dark and nearly blends with his fur except that his fur is a shade lighter, but still, the scar can only be seen in perfect sunlight, or if you look really close.
His fur is light chestnut color that travels smoothly down his body, then goes around a deeper chestnut color at his stomach, then continues down his legs all the way to his feet. His claws are sharp, but not as sharp as razors, so, in a word, they could be much sharper, but he keeps them how he likes them. His claws are a dark black color, and each and every single one is the same color.
His attire is quite simple to him, but probably not simple to others;
He wears a deep maroon color shirt with a collar that isn't too loose, or too tight, and it extends to his waist. The sleeves travel down his arms only to be rolled back up again to his elbows. Over his shirt he wears a deep blue colored sleeveless vest that's paper thin, is practically plastered to his shirt, has a v-neck part, and black buttons which he always keeps buttoned. His pants are normal, black pants that fit perfectly around his waist and legs, and they too fit his legs perfectly. As for shoes, he wears typical boots, not the thick leather ones, but more like shoes with high tops to them. They're black with laces traveling all the way up the high top part, and they cover the bottom parts of his pants, because they are tucked in.
He doesn't like ruining his body with piercings, so he has none, but as to jewelry, he wears a necklace and a ring. The necklace is tied upon a leather cord, and its pendant isn't much of a pendant at all; it's a bright green rock, carved from a bigger green rock, and it's design is fairly simple: It has a wavy line traveling through it, starting at the top, beggning a row, ending at the other side, then having another row start underneath it until the whole rock is filled with the design. It was given to him by his grandmother, and was rumored to have been carved under the moonlight so the moon's beauty would be captured inside the rock.
The ring is always worn on his ring finger, and it nearly never comes off, unless forced. It's design, however, isn't as simple as the neclace. It is a thick silver band that starts out thin underneath the finger, and gets thicker as it travels about his finger and gets thickest as it meets at the top. It has two snakes on it, one crowned with a necklace of flowers and is placed on the upper part of the band, while the other is cowering from something, for it has a closed mouth, eyes filmed over with either its lids or a covering for protection, and it's body is coiled about. Between the two serpents is a bright ruby that is small, but worth much. Another big rumor was that the whole ring is said to have been worth more then Mako's grandfather (Who had it first), father (Second), and him (last), all combined.
Mako feels that you don't need to be a walking armory to be a killer. He doesn't carry much for weapons, only having throwing knives on the side of a leather belt that travels around his waist and back again, and on the other side, he carried a blade, and a nice one at that. The blade is lightweight, allowing perfect balance, but is very sharp and durable, he calls it 'Anduil'. The blade is folded steel, and it's very deadly. It's double sided and has no specific design, like no wavy black lines or anything, but it has on it in faded letters: Anduil. Oddly, it's original design had: GURANDUIL, on it, but the 'GUR' of it faded away, leaving just 'Anduil'. The hilt of it is normal, but has very good grip. It has normal cross parts on the hilt, and a black grip covers enough of the hilt for two hands, though the wielder can choose to fight with one hand, or two, then underneath that there's a silver metal that is the normal size of the hilt, but then gets larger and ends in a diamond shape at the end.
Personality: Mako was born and raised to show no mercy to anybeast, good, bad, or neutral, but he never adapted to that way of life. He shows mercy to creatures who in turn show him mercy, also, or if he just really feels bad for one creature in a fight, he will stop the fight, but if the beast he 'protected' from death gets up and attacks him, he won't hesitate to finish what he started.
Mako, although siding with the bad beasties, sometimes doesn't act as bad beasts, but will sing songs that don't revolve around killing, but just normal, peaceful songs. He does have a soft spot for young beasts, for he grew up differently then most of his kind, learning that young ones don't necessarily mean what they say/do most times.
Although Mako can be kind, he is a trained killer and a pretty good one at that. His life, however, doesn't revolve around murder, bloodshed, and death period, but he does have a cold spot, allowing him to be that cold blooded killer, though like I said before, if he takes much pity on a creature, he'll stop the fight. When he is that cold blooded killer, however, his mind is clouded, blocking everything around him except his target in a fight or an assassination. In this state of manner, he is very vulnerable to others around him, allowing them to get in blow or two or three, depending on how deeply intent he is on achieving his goal of taking out his target.
Like I said before, Mako can become 'heartless' (sort of), or 'heartful' (again... sort of), the cold part allows him to become that marauder or bandit or mercenary, for Mako will do anything to get food, money, or just to keep himself alive.
Strengths:
Woodsmen; Mako knows how to keep himself alive when there are places with things that can keep him alive. He knows how to determine if something is edible, and he knows how to make camps out of sticks and dockleaves, how to make roaring fires, how to hunt for birds, and pretty much do everything a forester is required to know.
Swordsmen; Mako is good with a blade, and when fighting, he likes to bring in style and flourish to a fight, feeling that fights can get broing without anything besides hacking away at each other. He will occasionally take an 'en garde' position, fighting with one hand behind his back, taking up a fencer's stance, and poking and prodding his opponent. He also knows how to be a brutish fighter, too, charging and hacking, regardless of his health, though he doesn't usually fight this way.
Tactics; Mako is good at fighting tactics, being capable of making up many strategies, and also being capable of carrying through on said strategies. Mako likes the most, fighting guerrila warfare, hit and run. He likes seeing his opponents get confused and shoot and attack blindly at random places, only to have him blindside them and take them out with their backs turned to him.
Speed; Because of his size, Mako is very good at fleeing from a 'lost fight'. He can outrun many larger then him, and is very good over long distances.
Weaknesses:
Eyesight; Although Mako can see things in front of him and about 30 feet away, crystal clear, he cannot see things much further then that, clearly. He can't climb a tree and check the land for things far away, for all he really sees after 30-35 feet is a blur of things.
Strength; Mako is a shorter creature, thus not granting him incredible strength. Although his arms are full of muscle, he isn't that strong. Many are stronger then him, definitely otters, badgers, wildcats, and hares, but he is probably faster and more agile. Whatever he doesn't make up for in strength, he makes up for it in smarts, and speed.
Cowardice; Mako is somewhat of a coward, refusing to fight a force greater then 20 or so. If Mako is in a fight and he feels he's going to lose, he will retreat and basically run for his life. Although he is a coward, that makes him no less of a warrior.
History:
Mako's history is something he's constantly running from, trying to escape everything he did.
Mako was born into royalty. His father was a king of a large fortress, and his mother, queen. Both his parents were young when he was born and they're both about 20-25 seasons older then him, whicher it was, Mako never knew. Mako was brought up around royalty and being treated better then others, but the ferret didn't want to be treated like others, for he pitied those below him that were treated bad, or worse then he. He grew fond of some, and never took part in any crude punishments, and refused to laugh at others. He grew up with a sense of nobility -- something his parents have been constantly trying to destroy inside him.
As Mako grew older, his skills in many things grew with him, but so did his weaknesses. Although his strength grew with him, he never was strong enough to overwhelm those larger then him, and oddly enough, as he grew, his far sight grew worse with the passing of each year. Mako never grew up to be a coward, but later on, something transformed him into that.
When Mako was 12, he grew to like being called 'prince', though he still never grew to be cruel to those lower then him. He honed his skills each day with his father and several trainers, and his father also taught him tactics, for in the years to come, Mako would be leading squadrons and formations of troops.
At age 15, Mako was nearly expert at his skills. Nearly, being the key word. The prince grew to be over confident, and that would nearly get him killed in the days to come.
In the later years, when Mako was 18, his sense of nobility still grew, but so did the over confidence, for at that time, he felt he was better then all in his fathers fortress, even the king himself. His father always told Mako 'no' when Mako said he was a magnificent warrior, and Mako was disheartened and quite angry, so he felt the need to prove himself.
One day (when he was still 18), Mako's fuse finally exploded and he entered in the arena, which was a sport that his father enjoyed quite fondly, and there would be a match once every month.
Well, Mako's first match was different to others. When Mako was in the armory, suting up his armor and grabbing his weapons, he met his opponent: an over confident weasel, around his age. Mako was disgusted at the way the weasel acted, and he soon learned that he acted that same way, and vowed to change his ways.
When Mako and the weasel exchanged colorful words, the match was going to begin.
Mako walked up to his door to the arena, and the weasel to his. At the ring of the bell, two guards, each at either door, opened the doors and the match began. Mako was suited up in chainmail, and no helmet, a shield and sword at his side, and a spear in his hand. The weasel had mail on and a sword and shield. Mako took one step out the door and threw his spear with all his might, but the weasel put his shield up and the spear thudded into it, sending fierce vibrations into the weasel's hand and nearly destroying his shield. Mako hefted his shield to shoulder length and charged across the field.
His legs pumped like pistons, and his breath came out like steam blowing from a kettle.
Thud, thud, boom
His legs slamming into the ground could be heard by his opponent.
Thud, thud
Mako was drawing nearer and the weasel took a step back.
Thump, thump, thud
Then, there was a sound the weasel did not expect:
Shiiiiing
The weasel looked up to see Mako almost on him with a blade drawn, and a shield dropped, and before the weasel could act, fear overtook him and Mako jumped high, and plunged his sword into the base of the weasel's neck then landed wih a thump behind him.
Mako turned his head and the weasel's body hit the floor.
The crowd went wild, and Mako left the arena in silence, but as he neared the middly, he looked up into the loft where his father sat and stared at him with cold eyes, and pointed at him.
The king was fuming but Mako left the arena and removed his chain mail and went to bed.
Over the next years, Mako's father oddly didn't do anyting to his son, yet, but Mako was always on edge. He felt he proved himself, but still, he could never know by the way his father, the king, acted. When Mako was 19, he was given the ring and the pendant, learning stories of both. He quickly put on the ring and te necklace, and went to train with a smile on his face.
When Mako was 22, he was presented with his sword which he now has to this day, and along with the sword went a squadron of 100 troops. Mako was soon told he was to lead a battle, and bring the fight to a sea otter holt.
Mako took his assignment, suited up in armor specially made for him, a prince, and walked out of the large gates, his troops trailing behind him like a thick tail.
It took two days to reach their destination, and when Mako had everyone in position, he launched the attack, brandished his sword and led a charge across the beach, heading straight for the holt. Little did the prince know, he was running into an ambush.
As the troops neared the holt, the ottersappeared behind him suddenly, and sent a volley into their ranks. 12 fell that time, and the troops turned to meet the otters, but as they turned, they were attacked from the flank, and pretty soon, they were hemmed in on all sides. The troops were decimated, and Mako was among their ranks, alive, but barely. the otters spat on the bodies and kicked sand upon them and left.
Two days later, scouts came to the desolation of the troops, and bore back the body of Mako who was barely alive. When the scouts and Mako returned to the fortress, Mako was brought to the infirmary of some sort, and was nursed till he was to get better. The next night, Mako woke and ventured out of the empty room, and traveled down the halls. He came to the king's hall and as he went to push open the door, he stopped as he heard voices:
"... got him after those years ago of him terrorizing me and going against my rule."
"But my lord, he was your son. The new heir to the throne. The only heir."
"Don't contradict me! My word is law, and he deserved it! Ever since that day long ago, I feel he's been plotting against me. I must make myself known to him! I must make him know I'm stronger!"
"He suffered, my lord. It almost cost him his life."
"Good! Now, be off!"
Mako's eyes widened as he heard footsteps near the door and he pushed himself into the shadows and up against the wall as the door opened, and out strolled the chancellor of the king.
Mako breathed a sigh of relief as he walked away and returned to the nursery room and lay back down, a plan forming inside his mind.
He awoke the next day and his plan began.
Mako was allowed leave from the infirmary and an three hours before dinner, went to the kithcen and broke open a cabinet of food, and set out a plate of it. He made strew with all his food, added a whole two cups of paprika, and four cups of salt, then added strong medicine from the infirmary that can put anyone to sleep. He added the whole vial which eqauled about 4 cups, then to cover everything up, he stirred it together with leeks, funnel, potatoes, some bird meat, carrots, and onions, then set it in a bowl on the table with a note:
Mako then snickered and left the room and waited till dinner which would now be in a few minutes. After those minutes passed, the cook walked in, grabbed the bowl and brought it to the king who was eating in his own room, feeling the need to "study some old maps."
Mako followed the cook in and took a seat with his own dinner and said to his father, "I don't want to sit with those gross, filthy beasts lower then me!" His father was actually delighted to see a change in his son and smiled and ate his soup. The first sip his father jumped up with a burnt tongue and started yelling for water. Mako motioned for one minute then bolted out the door, went to the infirmary and grabbed medicine in a clear state, then returned to the room and gave it to his father. His father drank the medicine in one bite, spat it out, then just collapsed in a heap next to his table.
Mako drew a knife and stabbed his father through the heart, got up and fled, leaving the blade buried up to its hilt in his father's chest.
He grabbed his belongings from his room -- his sword, and other possessions such as knives and clothing-- then fled the whole fortress.
Just as Mako snuck out of the fortress, the chancellor found his king lieing dead, noticed the knife and immediately knew it was Mako's. The chancellor summoned 200 troops to go and find the outcast and kill him.
The 200 left the fortress, split up into groups of 50 each and went four different ways to search for Mako.
Two weeks passed since Mako left, and he felt safe and made a camp with a roaring fire. Unfortunately, a group of 50 were near and they followed the light of fire and found Mako halfway through a meal.
"Gettim!" they all shouted, and immediately charged the ferret. Mako drew his sword and jumped into the fray, a long forgotten feeling coming back to him -- over confidence. Mako cut down 17 when he was finally taken down, and he felt an unfamiliar emotion creep up on him -- fear. The under sized ferret let out a roar, cut down 4 more then resorted to cowardice and fled the scene, running as fast as he could go.
The troops took to their feet and chased after him, but Mako was faster and could outrun them all, and he soon did, and found a hiding place within a cave. He waited for the troops to pass, waited an hour, then left the cave, feeling as scared as ever, and feeling he may die at any moment.
When he was 24, Mako was greeted again by troops, only 30 in number this time, but still searching for him by order of the queen. He fought off about 10 more before feeling the fear and cowardice catch him again, and he fled the scene again, most his nobility leaving him, only to be replaced by everlasting fear and cowardice, which he only felt when he was faced against 20 or so forces.
The former prince has been wandering ever since, fighting off agents and troops, and still fleeing from them, too.
However, most of his nobility was gone, and he will still take pity on a creature if he feels they need it, or if he just feels really bad, but also, if that creature harms him at any other time, he wont hesitate to kill them, feeling he already gave them a chance that they wasted away.

For the king. Made specially. Bring to him when anyone sees.
-- Chancellor
-- Chancellor
