Apanie is very small for her age with soft creamy fur among her brown spikes and very long ears. Her eyes are wide and black which when combined with her quick, lopsided smile gives her a mischievous look that prevents her from ever being able to tell a good lie. She always wears a simple green dress that rarely stays clean for very long and a locket around her neck which carries a tiny portrait of her mother.
Possessions
A locket containing a tiny portrait of her mother. She also has an extensive collection of shiny and unusually shaped rocks.
Personality:
Apanie makes up for her small stature by causing a lot of trouble at Redwall. She is intensely curious and intelligent, making elaborate plans to avoid bedtime or steal strawberries, her favourite treat. She is very fast and nimble, an unusual trait for a hedgehog and she has an uncanny ability to get dirty. Apanie is also very caring and helpful when she wants to be, especially when she is asked by her brother Cobar. She is also quite cowardly and tries to lay the blame of her misdeeds on other creatures.

History:
Apanie and her family (Father, mother, two brothers, Cobar and Narrah and two sisters, Alkira and Tinka) had lived in north Mossflower since Apanie's grandfather came down from the northlands. They had very happy and peaceful lives until slavers passed through when Apanie was just a season old. They killed her father and captured her mother, brother and sisters. Cobar, the eldest fought with them valiantly, but could not free them. Instead he rescued Apanie from the vermin and fled, heading for Redwall Abbey. Once he had delivered her safely there he went after the slavers.
Apanie was taken care of and practically adopted by a young hedgehog called Kadee until her brother returned three seasons later. He had located a vermin stronghold in the far north where his mother and siblings had been sold, however it would be impossible to free them without the help of a vast army. Cobar has sworn to return one day to free his family.
Relationships:
Cobar Quillpaw - her brother and the father figure in her life. She will do almost anything he says
Kadee - the hedgehog who has raised her, new wife of Cobar, the mother figure in her life.
