Name: Varjak Barkpaw
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Species: Hare
Occupation: Taggerung of the Juskarak
Physical Appearance:
‘The beast was about five foot six. A red bandanna hung around his neck. There was a blue lightning bolt tattooed on each cheek, not to mention the three red lines on each side of his mouth and the five blue dots running from between the beast’s ears down to his nosetip. His fur was tan, white and black. The hare’s left ear had been torn clean off. A beast could only imagine how painful the tattoos must’ve been, a needle or blade being dipped in blue ink and shoved into the hare’s cheek, then the same with the other side and the wavy lines. The dots were just presumably painted on. Varjak’s eyes were a pitch black, like the depths of an abyss. The hare was garbed merely in a cape of green. He wore a waistsash as well, into which was thrust twin katanas.’
Possessions:
Katanas- Twin katanas, each with a leather bound hilt and a sparkling silver blade.
Personality:
A swift silent fighter, Varjak settles disputes using his katana. He doesn’t have enough patience to wait to attack an enemy. He detests badgers, saying they should all go to Hellgates. One more thing-he usually hates this Vulpuz creature everybeast talks about. He has heard it can assume the form of a spider. And he absolutely hates spiders.
Strengths:
Agile- Varjak’s quick footpaws make it easy for him to run and dodge arrows and the like.
Weaknesses:
Spiders- Varjak is scared to death of spiders, small or big, venomous or not. He hates them and for that reason detests the ‘Great Vulpuz’
Salamandastron- Varjak blames the mountain of fire lizards for his parent’s death. He swears he will get revenge on them someday.
History:
…Varjak saw himself on a boat, in the arms, paws of a villainous-looking rat, watching his mother’s and father’s face, watching the five ferrets advance upon the two hares until the rough screams split the air and the hares lay in a bloody heap, ferrets surrounding them until five long patrol hares slew them there…
…He was being taught to use a blade. He was being taught how to kill, to assassinate, to torture, to shoot a bow. He was given his own twin pair of katana, felt a rush of pride inside him. He was a vermin warrior at last. He would avenge his mother and father’s deaths at the paws of the long patrol hares and their badger lord…
…He was on a boat, at the mainrail, sailing off to Mossflower Country, a villainous grin stamped upon his face as he pointed his blades to the foaming water, shouted out to the skies in all his anger, his rage. He would get his revenge, make the ones that had killed his parents suffer until he saw fit to end it…
…He had failed in his mission to make Salamandastron fall, retreated to Mossflower Woods. He was captured by Juskarak, brought before their leader, Lúthien Rak, proclaimed Taggerung, tattooed by their seer Ohdrah. He remembered screaming louder than he ever had in his life as the needle that would create his lightning bolt tattoo pierced his skin…
…Asleep…let the pain end here…covered in bloodied bandages, laying on a bloodstained rag, watching a moth fly across the top of the tent, denied movement for a whole three days. And it was free…
…Varjak came out of the tent, a true Taggerung at last, the Juska hordebeasts in complete awe of him, the symbol of his Clan…
