A young mousemaid sat fondly on a large window sill that over- looked the Abbey. Cluttered around her were stacks of books that she had pulled from the shelves, some of which she had finished reading and some of which she hadn't even glanced at the titles. Currently in her hands she held the only copy of the book The Ancient Tales of Life by Sister Geminya. Technically the author's name was written Minegay but if you unscrambled the letters like an anagram it became Geminya. Thumbing through the first few introduction pages she stopped as the tales unraveled in a very dainty scroll. Currently there was no one about the library but herself. The librarian had gone out for afternoon tea on the west wall and Nat'lie was left to read quietly.
After she finished up another several pages, the mouse set the book gently down and pulled up a small picnic lunch she had packed for herself. Taking out a small scone, she nibbled on it taking sips of strawberry cordial in between bites to quench her thirst. After a couple moments she had finished her small meal and sat in the window, looking upon the Dibbuns who were playing in the orchards. After a bit some elder mouse came along and chased them off. Obviously he didn't remember what it was like to be as young as the Dibbuns or maybe he didn't appreciate his time as a Dibbun. The slightest creak of the library doors informed her that someone was entering.

The dainty paws of a squirrel maid were responsible for the creaking door. The look on her face was one of nervousness as she peered around the doorjam. When she didn't see anyone immediately, the young maid entered on tip-paw, shutting the door carefully behind her.
She turned back to the great library, her mouth almost slack-jawed in awe at the shelves upon shelves of books and scrolls. Noonvale had no such great library that she knew of. Perhaps the Chieftan knew of a handfull of historical scrolls, but nowhere near the enormous number contained in this room alone.
Rika had come to the Library as part of her little tour of the grounds. Freshly arrived from Noonvale, she had never seen the Abbey before, and explored with a will rivaling the stubbornness of a dibbun. Fortunately the Brothers and Sisters seemed understanding of her curiosity and had allowed her to familiarize herself with the grounds.
Such a sacred and quiet air hung over the place that she wasn't quite sure she was allowed to be here. There was no lock on the door, and she had been given permission to explore, but her nerves were still evident from the way she slowly walked across the floors, careful to make as little sound as possible as she reverently traced her paws across the spines of the tomes and the raised lettering of scroll-tubes that lined the shelves and walls of the room.
