Lani is of a tall and lanky, yet slight build. Basically, she is perfectly built for her current position as a runner for the regiment. Her fur is a blend of light browns, greys and reds to give a "sun-touched" hue, except her tummy, which is a solid tan. She also possesses the trademark Varilde eyes of stunning blue.

Lani is absolutely a tom-boy, but what chance did she have with three older brothers? The teenaged haremaid has something of a complex, with being not only the youngest, but also the only female in her family. She is definitely a loudmouth, and something of a rebel, given her constant need to make a name for herself out from under the shadow of her siblings. She has a short fuse, and although fond of using her caustic sarcasm in a fight, she's just as likely to throw a punch.
While endearing when she was younger (especially after losing her twin sister) the smothering protectiveness of her brothers has become a burden to her. Lani certainly doesn't need to be protected from a fight, as scrappy as she is, and a romantic life... well. One would have a better chance to see Lani wrestling with her male peers than flirting with them.
It's not hard to see that Lani is deeply insecure. She plays off as confident and carefree, but catch in her a weak moment, and she's a mess. When she lost her twin, she lost half of herself. She feels like she's trying to live for the both of them, which makes her reckless and impatient. And sometimes... sometimes it's just too much.
Strengths:
Very swift and agile, quick and fairly accurate with a bow, scrappy, very smart
Weaknesses:
Not very strong, not as good at short-range combat, short-tempered and brash which would probably keep her from getting too far in the Long Patrol
History:
Leilani's life history is certainly not a secret at Salamandastron, although sometimes she wished it was. The haremaid usually considers her sorry past a crutch, where most normal creatures would see it as a handicap. No one would ever see who she really was or treat it how she deserved. As soon as they saw that sun-kissed fur and the stunning - in her case seemingly haunting - blue eyes, she would forever be pegged as one of those "poor Varildes."
Lani couldn't even remember her mother, who died when she was only four. This probably even further contributed to her boyish nature. She was very close with her father though, and learned her first basic combat skills from him. The most tragic blow in her life came at the age of thirteen, when she lost her father, and her twin sister in one fell swoop. One sudden day she'd lost the only parent she'd ever known and her best friend, her twin sister. She fell into a deep depression, and sometimes it seems she still hasn't quite woken from it.
Lani threw herself fully into her career in the Long Patrol. Extremely aggressive when provoked, she takes her anger and depression out on any who crosses her, whether vermin or fellow Long Patrollers. She is a scout for a reason, not only because she's quick and astute, but because she simply must work alone. She has no patience for groups.
Of late, she has grown restless and agitated. Although secure in her scouting position in the Long Patrol, she is feeling less and less like she belongs. Aside from her siblings, she has no real ties to Salamandastron, and every time she goes on a far run, she wonders if maybe this time she just might not come back. Maybe she will leave, to some place far away; somewhere where she isn't just a poor Varilde.
