(WARNING may have VERY BAD SPELLING)
The sun rose over the horizon heralding the start of a new day. Waves crashed over the tide line their white foam spewing over the sand strewn rocks. All seemed peaceful and calm, at first glance that is. By a patch of burnt rubble in the middle of the beach amid debris and ruins there lay a small prone form unmoving in the sand. Gulls circled overhead as the figure stirred slightly in the sand. A lone otter tried feebly to sit up in vain and fell back down to the ground.
Everything was hazy what was going on where was he.... He rubbed his head, a searing pain lanced through his entire body. What was he doing here? Suddenly another thought came into his mind his family, where was his family? He groaned and propped himself up on one paw. He looked back and forth then gasped! His home, his entire home that he had lived in since he was a little otter-pup was a smoldering wreck! Suddenly it all came back to him. He had been swimming in the shallows with his twin brother named Leith when he surfaced for breath and heard a coarse blood curdling war cry. There, rushing straight towards his house, were hundreds of vermin, scarred tattered pirates. He gasped in alarm and reached for a bow which he always kept at his side. He leaped to his feet and cried in warning to his brother who immediately surfaced and pulled a dagger out of his belt. Rushing towards the vermin they yelled an angry battle cry at the sneering attackers. In the middle of the vermin there was a large painted fox, obviously their leader. He snarled and drew his sword, then pointed it straight at the brothers and said in an irate voice “you two get those stupid kids, the rest of you charge the hut.” The two selected vermin bared their teeth and yelled charging towards the brothers. The first brother (the one remembering what took place), named Keefe, drew his bow and shot the first one down. Leith ran the other through swiftly and glanced over towards the hut. The brothers nodded to each other and rushed towards the screaming vermin. They forced their way to the house just in time to see their mother get shot down by an arrow. They gasped, and then suddenly they realized they were surrounded. Leith yelled coarsely and lunged at the vermin who grabbed him roughly. Keefe shouted and turned around swiftly, running a rat behind him through with an arrow. A hulking stoat advanced on him with a large club, suddenly he swung. Keefe fell to the ground in pain, his eyes misted over then everything grew dark.
He sat up now and looked around frantically one thought racing through his mind. His mother was dead no doubt but where were his brother and father. He grasped his bow which was lying loosely over his scratched hand. He stood up and searched the remains of his house. Upon pushing aside a board he found the body of his father who had been run through while trying to protect his wife. The elder brother choked back a strangled sob then a wave of anger passed through him. He would find these vermin and pay them back for his family’s death if it was the last thing he did. Suddenly something struck him, his brother Leith, where could his brother be? He had not seen him at all in the wreckage. He looked once more through the rubble but to no avail. Could this mean his brother was alive! If so the only solution would be that he had been captured by the vermin. Slinging his bow across his back he vowed that he would find his brother or die trying.
