Cutface growled a little. He was selfish and he didn't like being helped. It made him feel less strong and it made him look less powerful. He starred at the big badger. Why would a badger help them? Let alone, know about the secret that this badger had an evil heart. He had met a otter once that was pure evil, but never a badger. It seemed completely strange. Badgers were practically the animals that hold all of the good beasts together. Not kill them for money. He looked up at the monstrous badger again. "Whatever." He looked down and drew his swords. They would be able to fight off the otters now with a badger to help them. Then, they could be off to headquarters.

Calithlin sighed as he heard the otters get closer. So this would be his last mission. He now saw the try meaning in; make on mistake and it will be your last. Drawing his daggers he just started to turn, to take down as many as he could with him, when a giant badger picked him up. It took Cal a second to think about what just happened. But by then he was already gone, and soon he was at the badger camp, standing next to Cut. He looked up at the badger as he spoke. "The leader of that Holt was my target, but I didn't leave when the job was done, so I almost died because of my mistake." He didn't see anything wrong with telling the badger, he must know about them if he helped them, besides he knew about the merc organization.

Once getting to her things, Kiara calmed down a little, she knew they were on the run so they wouldn't be after her. She slowly packed her things back up and headed out, not caring if it was dark or not, she wasn't going to rick her life by staying here in this area. However she knew she could take her time, for now anyway.
On her way off, she had seen a badger. 'Good.' She thought to herself as he passed and she continued on her way. "With a badger like that around, I doubt they'll be causing any more trouble." She said, looking at the night sky and started to hum a tune.

Grusso gave a wicked smile. His large white teeth glimmered. " Well mate, looks like yer dissapointed by my arrival. " He turned his attention to cal. His blue tatoo stood out like a sore thumb. ' Well, short of presentation, I'm Grusso, Taggerung of the Juskaram, and Traveling mercenary at yer service. I'm neutral myself, but others tell me ahm as evil as the night. I happened to notice a mouse back there. Someone you need to get rid of? She seemed to be heading twords the abbey.'' He failed to tell them how soft he was for babes.
Grusso grunted as the sound of angry otter came in the distance. " Well, looks like their on me trail. This should be fun" he whispered urgently to the vermin. " alright, look like yer knocked out. we'll catch'em by suprise" As he heard two thuds, a javelin whizzed past. Grusso waved his arms. " Belay mates, I be a good beast. " The otters stood infront of him, eyeing the unconcious figures. " Those vermin killed our leader. We want their heads!'' As the otter surged forward Grusso sent him sprawling backwards. " Sorry, fraid I cant let yew do that. I needs me mates alive." the otter looked at him quizically. "Mates?" As the otters head tumbled to the ground, Grusso roared. " Get up mates, time fer some fun!"

Smiling slightly at the badger when he reveled he was a Taggerung Cal shook his head as he asked about the mouse. "She isn't our top priority now, getting out alive is more important." He quickly rolled to the side as the javelin thudded into the ground next to him and did as the badger suggested. Laying still he kept his paws under his body, his daggers held ready. He held in a laugh at the otters confusment, and quickly lept at the second otter and dispatched him before he even saw the black rat. Spinning around he swung toward the second otter, but was met with the otters sword blacking his daggers. Smiling evilly he slipped one of his daggers under the sword and stabbed the otter deep in the stomach. Pushing the dieing otter away from him he whirled around, waiting for the next foolish otter to meet his blades....

Cutface did as Cal did. He went quickly to the ground and closed his eyes. He had both of his swords in his hands with a tight grip around them. he hoped that the otters didn't notice it, bu then the mighty badger let out a loud battle cry. It had been the fight he had been hoping for. The last time he had an exciting thing happen was with Cal at the giant ferret's camp. They had burned it down with the help with a clever fox. Before now, he had been going on boring assassination missions. Now, he was about to fight side by side... by side with a mighty badger and his old friend Cal. If he died. At least he would have someone close to him to be with.
He leaped up and snarled. He did a quick overview of the situation. There didn't seem like there were too many otters, but he could still hear some foot steps coming quickly towards the battle. He decided he had waited long enough. He was ready to fight and hungry for blood. He leap at the closest otter and knocked him down to the ground, stabbing him, and jumping off him in one quick smooth movement. He had been practicing that move in the training halls of th headquarters and was hungry to try it out. As he leap off, he landed on to another nearby otter. He went Wolverine(X- Men) and started to stab into the otter furiously. He pushed up off of the otter and looked around for his next victim.

Grusso had an overview of the scene from his height. The last of the otters were closing in now, savage after most of their holt was diminished. He had checked this holt before, there were no babaes in it as present. Merly warriors. He charged at the front lines taking a dozen otters with him. He watched with a glint in his eye as the others fought, cutface stabbing everthing within his reach and Cal knocking over and bold enough to harm him before dispatching him. The clearing full of otters had thinned out by now, with only a score or so left. This is were it got fun. With a mighty roar grusso grabbed his great silver sword and swung it around and around and around, flailing it about like a weed wacker to a point were dismembered bodyparts hung, mainly heads. 5 terrified otters were left. But now that they had nothing to lose, they fought more savagley than ever. He would leave theses to the others. He went to his log and sat down to watch the show.

Three of the remaining otter charged at Cal. Cursing when he saw they all had spears Cal quickly jumped to the side, but one of the spears still grazed his shoulder. Gritting his teeth he threw one of his daggers with deadly accuracy. Taking the lead otter through his throat. The two remaining otters advance slowly on them, and with a quick nod they both faked a low strike, then went high. Cal blinked at the wrong time, and went for the low attack. Both of the spears his him in each shoulder. Screaming in pain he barely managed to stab the otter closest to him before tripping the other otter. Leaping over to him he knew he wouldn't be able to use his dagger again. Setting his knee on the otters neck he managed a evil smirk as he put his full weight on his knee.....

When she had far enough away, or so she figured, Kiara stopped to rest. Her back wound was hurt and she needed help with that fr she can't properly bandage the wound as she can't exactly see it, do to the fact that it was on her back and it was dark out. Maybe if she were lucky, some of those otters or that badger will come by here and help her. She sat down and waited, soon falling asleep on the account that no one was around, they were all in a fight.

After three otters went at Cal, the remaining two chased after Cutface smiled. Two otters would mean double the fun. He waited until the last instant and tried the jump at the closest one, but he waited too long because the closest otter was able to stab him slightly in he foot. Cutface jump and yelped in pain. He slashed his sword around to stab into the otter. The otter fell down in pain and eventually death. Cutface stayed on one foot because he didn't feel like standing on it. It would probably start to burn in pain. The second otter smiled. He thought that Cutface would be an easy kill because he was hurt in one foot, but he was very wrong. Cutface fell to the ground on purpose and then slashed with deadly aim. The otter's feet were chopped and he would slowly bleed to death. Cutface stood up making sure that he didn't stand on his hurt foot. Then, he stabbed the otter for the finishing blow. Both otters were dead and he turn to Cal seeing that he had managed with only a hurt shoulder. Then, he turned to the badger shrugged and put his swords away.

Post by Korbaine Geroki sen Tekaevish on Mar 21, 2008 17:20:58 GMT -5
"You three!" the yell came from the darkness that enshrouded the area, spoken in a dead monotone. The voice was obviously speaking to Cutface, Calithlin, and Grusso, for they were the only beasts left alive after the massacre. "You've killed nearly an entire holt of otters!" Due to the monotone, it was impossible to determine whether or not the comment was one of horror or commendation.
Korbaine Geroki sen Tekaevish, faking a bad limp, hobbled forward quickly into the midst of Grusso, Cutface, and Calithlin. His face showed clearly that he was a rat, and the fact that he had no visible scarring seemed to show that he had not seen a great deal of combat. He was very short, and wore a loose robe that made it difficult to tell whether or not he was lean and muscular or frail and thin. His sable fur was tinged black in the dimness of the night, and his green eyes were covered by a film of opaqueness that gave them a cloudy appearance.
Korbaine's eyes were only able to focus on the trio when he got close to them, and he became immediately more vigilant, realizing the severity of his situation. He had no doubt that he could kill the ferret and the rat and escape before the badger was able to retaliate, but he still wished to get out of this situation with as little bloodshed as was possible.
He realized quickly that his introduction into the group's midst made a total of four beasts present, which unnerved him, but he pushed back the irrational fear as he introduced himself.
"I am Korbaine Geroki sen Tekaevish," he looked Calithlin in the eyes, suspecting that he was the most dangerous of the three, and did not flinch as he spoke in the same identical monotone, "a fighter who was awed by the might of your brutal annihilation of this group of otters. I heard you speak earlier of a Mercenary Group, and upon realizing that it has within its ranks three extraordinary fighters such as yourselves, I find myself interested in joining you."
Korbaine heard several voices in his head echoing the flaws and problems that his introduction had. First, he was likely making an attempt to play off of the egos of three beasts, and while Cutface and Grusso might have been susceptible to such manipulation, he doubted that Calithlin would let his guard down after a few compliments. Second, he had called himself a fighter when he was feigning a bad limp and hiding his athletic physique (along with his weapons) underneath his robe. Finally, he had openly admitted to eavesdropping on their earlier conversations, which could provoke violence in these people.

Gritting his teeth Cal sat down hard next to all the dead otters. Grunting quietly in pain he finally extracted the spear point from his shoulder. He only glanced around as the dead voice filled the clearing. Shrugging as it continued he started to bandage up his left shoulder. He was lucky that it was only his left shoulder. Losing the ability to use both of his arms would make everything exceedingly difficult. Looking up at the rat as he walked into the clearing he listened intently as he stood up, walking up right next to the rat. He was only a bit taller then the rat, and so looked down upon the seemingly weak creature. But Cal knew what he was trying to do. He himself had used the same disguise to fool woodlanders into letting him get close, before he killed them. Taking a step back he smirked slightly. "If your such a great fighter Korbaine." He said, the rats name to long to say all of it, as he took a step forward, almost touching the other rat. "Why are you faking a limp and making yourself seem weaker. Or maybe you just want us to kill you?"

Calithlin was so close that Korbaine probably could have pulled one of his eight-inch blades out of its resting place below his arm and gutted him. It would certainly have been logical for the short-term; by eliminating Calithlin early in the fight, he could probably defeat Cuteye with ease and escape from the badger, stalking the brute until he was forced to sleep.
However, Korbaine had greater plans for this trio of violent vermin, and those plans hinged on Korbaine's ability to resist the impulse to kill all of them before their usefulness ran out. He reassured himself with the knowledge that they would all be dead in time, and responded in a monotone to Calithlin's remarks.
"A great fighter is either a frail individual who fools his stronger victims into believing that he is weaker than he truly is or a powerful individual who has no need for deception." Korbaine stood up straight, showing that he had, indeed, been faking his limp, "I was faking a limp, true, but I am obviously not a very strong person. I was not sure if you would attack me as I approached, and so I wished to prepare myself against you if you chose to try and kill me.
"As for whether or not I wished for you to kill me, I did not wish anything of that sort. Seeing as how you have already threatened me to some small extent, I find it appropriate to respond to you in a similar fashion; if you were to try and kill me, I can assure you that you would not last very long. I have had years of practice fighting with my hands and feet," he lied blatantly, although there was no way to prove it, "and I would have little trouble killing each of you...except, perhaps, the badger."

(Sorry for not posting Korbaine, I was waiting for the others to reply)
Cal stood where he was as the rat replied to him. This rat was very sure of himself, did he not just see them kill an entire Holt of otters? Even after that he was confident that he could kill both him and Cutface. Shaking his head slightly he chuckled. "Well you see Korbaine, first you asked if you could join us, and I didn't want you to because you were 'weak'. Now you say that you could easily kill me and my friends here." Once he had finished this sentence he rested a paw on korbaine's shoulder, when without warning a dagger appeared in the paw, tickling the side of Korbs neck. "You see, beasts like us don't take lightly to people who think they are all powerful, epically those who are liars and think they can kill all three of us."
(Sorry for the small powerplay, I'll change it if you want me to.)

Before the strange rat came, Cutface had almost colapsed. His foot was killing him, and the blood was rushing very freely through the small gash. He grunted as he leaned on it a little while still sitting. It hurt, but he would be able to walk and possibly fight. Mercenaries had to learn to fight and sneak around under all conditions. He then began quickly wrapping his foot in case of any sudden intruders. He started to squeez he foot to stop the blood flow, and then he wrapped a bandage around it tightly.
When he was giving the finishing touches a voice came out of no where. Cutface became suddenly alert and got to his feet quickly. He didn't want to look weak to a friend or a foe, but the only problem was that who ever intruded probably had seen him get his injury. Standing up was tricky at first, but after about 5 seconds he got a good balance between his hurt foot and good foot. It hurt to put full pressure on it, but he was a tough ferret, and he could obviously withstand the amazing pain. He gritted his teeth and stood up straight.
The conversation continued between the strange rat and his friend rat, Calithlin. His was clenching his teeth so much that he wasn' sure he could talk without giving a small whimper, but when Cal pulled the dagger he knew the situation was getting worse. He took out his two swords, using one as a type of cane, and smiled a devious smile. the rat may have thought he was all powerful, but he had no idea.
Cutface then pointed his free sword at the strange rat named Korbain. "You want a fight? You have no idea." Cutface couldn't resist the urge to speak out against someone like that. They all was got him angry and they often ended up dead. He hated overly cocky beasts. he knew that Calithlin probably didn't want a fight right this moment, but it was hard for someone like Cutface to resist it. Then, he looked back at the badger and forward at Cal for a little reassurance, or something.

((It's not a problem. So long as you don't actually attack with the dagger without giving me a chance to respond (which I don't find likely), it's generally fair, in my opinion.
I apologize in advance for the dark-evil change that overtakes Korbaine in situations such as these. He is insane, however, and I enjoy writing insane characters. I tried not to give it too much of a malevolent mood.))
Korbaine's monotone vanished as soon as he felt Calithlin's paw on his shoulder, and his logical personality was usurped by emotion as he felt the blade of a dagger scraping lightly against his neck. Anger washed through his head like a tidal wave, infesting every aspect of his twisted mind with unimaginable fury.
He savored moments like these; his vision blurred, distorting the images around him into little more than swirls of color, but still he knew where everything was. Ecstasy washed through his mind as he fed off of his own anger, and the movements following his change in personalities were slow and deliberate.
His left arm rose slowly into the air, parallel to the ground beneath him as his right hand grasped the arm near its elbow, pressing up against a hard metallic bump that was connected to the dagger that was hidden on the underside of his arm, inside the gauntlet that spanned from his fingertips to his shoulder. He dragged his hand down the length of his lower arm, pulling the protrusion down along a slit in the underside of the gauntlet, basking in the gloriously terrible sound of metal grating against metal; a sound that would have forced most beasts to cover their ears in pain.
Slowly, the dagger began to slide out from the loose sleeves of Korbaine's robe until the slider was forced to a stop, leaving an eight-inch blade exposed. He repeated the process, just as slowly, for his right arm, lowered both arms to his side, and spoke in a voice that was dripping with rage, no longer the calm monotone that he had been using.
"I advise you with all of my willpower, lower your dagger. The ferret is injured badly, and not even total decapitation could stop me from killing you at this range. If you cut my throat, I will make it my last action in life to see you die before I draw my final breath. Either you back away and continue calm negotiations..." he managed a dark chuckle, "...or we both die."

(Sorry for the delay guys, bloody chemistry gave out a lab report, and I just started Fencing.)
Cal's expression didn't change as the rats face dropped, but he didn't think that this was a sign of the rat giving up, quiet the opposite is what passed through Cal's fertile mind. A beast that made claims like that didn't give up that easily.
Which was soon confirmed as the rats eyes just seemed to glaze over. Cal didn't need to be trained to know that this rat was starting to lost it. He had seen a similar expression in one of the older mercenary's that he worked with when he went insane from a battle.
The old merc had seen so much killing that it finally overwhelmed his mind. He soon saw every other merc to blame and started to make them 'pay' for what he did. Before they even knew what was happening the old beast had started to kill the other mercs. They had to kill him before he could do any more harm.
Bring his mind back to the present Cal watched as the rat finally brought fourth his weapons. As the rat spoke Cal knew that he was right. Even if he killed the rat, with the blades that close to him he would die to. Looking over at Cut face he nodded. "Put them down Cut, no sense in unnecessary deaths." He said, a small tinge of controlled rage in his voice as he brought his eyes back to the rat, and finally, after a few seconds, lowered his dagger and took a few steps back. He just glared at the other rat as he waited for him to speak again....

Grusso was finding great enjoyment in it all. He was swigging ale like there was no tomorrow as he watched the sinister pair talk and threaten eachother. This was better than the plays the hares put up at salamandastron! much better. All the hares talked about was food. Grussosaw the glint of steel, heard the grating metal, and tasted the scent of rage in the air. Well, time to intervine. Grusso gave a most uproaorus laugh, so loud he was sure the hares stopped eating to hear it. Well, maybe not that loud. His keen blue eyes sent a dagger whizzing through the air. His prized silver one. Redtail you old mite, 'ow long are ye gonna sit there an let yer comrades get urt? A strangely attired pine marten came out. His entire body was a reddish color, with the exception of a white stripe going down his back. He had soft golden eyes and a devlish smile. Well, Grusso me ole mate, seems you gots er crazy ole hoot in your presence. Care fer me an the boys to take care 'o 'im? As if on cue the once small group was now surrounded by the mercenary company, with various evil faces sneering and sniggering. Grusso got up from his seat and stood next to cutface. You better get that foot looked at mate. Who knows what those otters had on the javelins.

Cutface lower his weapons like Calithlin had said. It was obviously for everyone's safety. The crazy rat probably would try to kill everyone if he had reason to do so. He wouldn't have succeeded, but he would have done pretty well. All of them were injured in some way, and it would be a difficult and painful battle to even fight. He starred hard at the two rats, and grunted in frusteration. His brain wanted to fight, but his body and friend said no.
Then, a group of pine martens surrounded the four of them. He smiled at the badger when he called to Redtail. It was almost humorous that there was so much frustration and anger in the air and the badger didn't call on the marten earlier. He wondered if the group had been their during the battle with the otters. Grusso had obviously known about their hidden company before now, but he had not revealed them before now. Maybe he was finding the whole situation funny, like some sick joke.
Grusso then, asked if he wanted to check out his wound. It seemed strange that he would ask that even before the big villain was gone. He was obviously out numbered, but with the insanity level that he had it would be risky to let his guard down. "Not now." he said, never taking his eyes off the two rats.
