Tanon wrapped his arms around Star's waist."I love you too, Star." Tanon whispered back to her, discarding his accent as he did once before when he first confessed this to her. "I just didn't realize it at first."
He paused for a moment in thought, uncertain of something, but quickly made up his mind as he took a deep breath and stared into her shining hazel eyes. "Star,", he began, "I left my home nearly eight seasons ago, to find my mate in this life. I thought it would have been Fern when I first met her, but I was wrong. However what she told me in that dream gave me something to think about for a good while."
"Star," He continued, "What I'm about to ask you is very serious, so please don't take it lightly." He paused for a moment and he untied one of his cord wristbands and presented it to her. "Starspray Waymeet, will you marry me? Will you be my mate in this life and perhaps in the life to come?"

Star sucked in her breath suddenly, her eyes shining. Those were the words she had been waiting to hear, but now that she heard them, she found that she could hardly believe it. She reached out, paw trembling slightly, and gently took the cord wristband. "Tanon, you have no idea how much I've wanted a mate." she whispered, "I didn't know if I'd ever find one, but I knew when I met you that you would be different." A huge smile crept onto her face, and she threw her arms around his neck again, exclaiming, "Yes! Yes, a thousand times, yes!"

Sniffling in his sleep as both otters whispered back and fourth to each other Will rolled over slightly onto his side. but as the talking started to get louder he started to wake up. But it wasn't until Star started to shout her agreement that he was startled into awake-fullness. Looking over at the otters it took him a few seconds to think about what had just happened. But when he saw the happiness in both their faces, and Tanon's wristband in Stars hand, he had a good idea what they just did. He smiled widely at both otters as they hugged, they just looked so peaceful, so happy....

The joy that filled Tanon's heart from Star's answer was so great that he could not decide whether to laugh or to cry, but nonetheless, he found himself doing an even share of both as he wrapped one arm around her waist and placed a paw on the back of her head, holding her close in a snug yet gentle embrace. "Oh Star...", he sobbed lightly, "You've made me the happiest otter in all of Mossflower this day!"

Star gave free rein to her own happy tears. She could hardly contain the joy that welled up inside of her until she thought she might burst from happiness.
"Tanon," she smiled through her tears, still comfortably wrapped in his embrace, "I want you to know that I can't think of any otherbeast that I would rather spend the rest of my life with, and-" The rest of whatever she was going to say was cut off by the huge luge of emotion that suddenly lodged in her throat. She was getting married!

Tanon released Star from his embrace and looked into her eyes with a warm smile. "Then how about we seal it all with a kiss, hm?", he asked as he wiped away one of her tears.

Tanon closed his eyes for a moment as they kissed, enjoying that wonderful moment between them. He was so full of joy that he felt like he wanted to climb up to the ramparts and yell out to all of Mossflower that he was getting married to the most wonderful ottermaid he had ever known. But instead, he had something else on his mind.
"Here.", he said gently as he took the cord bracelet he had given Star and tied it to her left wrist, explaining himself as he did so. "My mother once told me, that when my father proposed to her, he took off one of his bracelets and tied it onto her wrist. She said that he did that so whenever they held paws, they could look upon those bracelets and remember that marvelous day."
"My mother made me these,", he continued as he finished tying it snugly to Star's wrist, "so that me and my mate would never forget this day, and remember what had drawn us together." He grasped Star's paw. "So I ask you, Star, to please never take it off, for I'm not going to do that with mine either, for fear that I might lose it and forget this very day."

Star gripped his paw reassuringly. "It would have to cut off my dead wrist before I'd let it be taken off." she said. "I don't think I'll ever forget the circumstances that brought us together, or this very moment." She gazed into his eyes. "Or how much I love you."
She hugged him again, finding a comforting joy in the warmth of his arms around her.

Tanon sighed lightly as he embraced Star once more. "Aye.", he replied. "I've made both our dreams come true this day and I'm sure neither of us will forget about it anytime soon."
He gently nuzzled the side of her cheek with his own. "I feel like I can stand here and do this for a thousand seasons. Oh how I love you. After all we've been through. After all you've done for me." He chuckled lightly. "Guess this is the least I can do to repay you back."

Star closed her eyes, smiling as Tanon nuzzled her cheek. "I must say it's pretty fair payment." she murmured, leaning against him. She had never thought she could be this happy, but she was. These few moments were worth everything in the world.
"So, how long will we wait?" she asked, "To get married, I mean."

Tanon thought for a moment before shrugging. "Hmm... good question. I don't think it will take the abbey too long to make preparations for it."
He chuckled briefly. "I think it all depends on how long it takes for us to get ready. Perhaps if we wait a bit, my leg will get good enough so I wont need my walking stick to support me anymore."

Star stuck our her lip in a mock-pout. "I don't want to wait any longer than we have to, but you're right. The more time we have to perpare, the better. And then your leg will have time to heal completely." She held on to Tanon's paw as she began leading him out of the pond, towards the Abbey. "I don't even know how to put on a wedding, anyway! I should talk to Angora."

(Such a happy little thread   ) Will had just been watching the otters as they spoke and enjoyed their happiness. His smile just getting bigger as they continued to talk. Getting to his feet as they started to come out of the water he walked over to them. "Congratulations to you both, I know that you will both be very happy together." He said as he walked along side them. "As for a wedding, we would all be happy to help you." |

Tanon nodded with a smile as Star led him out of the water."I'm sure she'll be just the right beast to talk to about this. She's probably working in the kitchen right now."
As William congratulated them, Tanon grinned and reverted to his normal accent. "Thank ya, William. I know we'll get plently o' 'elp from 'ere. I can't think of any place better ta get married then 'ere at Redwall."

Star couldn't stop smiling. "Thank you, William. I'm sure we'll both be very grateful for any help with preparations."
She took Tanon's paw in hers as they started out for the kitchens. "And just when I thought life couldn't get any better.." she sighed happily, giving his paw a gentle squeeze.

Will smiled as they walked off toward the kitchen. He knew that there probably couldn't be a better couple. They just looked so happy as they held each other and went off for food. Putting his paw on his chin he though about a wedding. It was true that Angora had a wedding, but that had been about a season before Will came to the abbey. Shrugging he followed behind Tanon and Star, wanting to help as much as he can with the wedding...

Tanon sighed contently as he gave her paw a squeeze back. "Aye. I can hardly wait." ~ Angora hummed a happy tune as she washed dishes in the kitchen. What was normally an easy task for her had become more of a challenge to the expecting mousewife. Her expanding belly made it more difficult for her to bend over or crouch, making it harder for her to pick up the dirty plates in the wash tub. But she enjoyed doing it nonetheless, being the helpful beast she was. She had just fished out another plate from the soapy water when she heard several beasts approaching. Looking over, she saw it was none other than Star, Tanon, and the abbey warrior William, all of whom she was well acquainted with. "Well hello there!", she said with a smile, "What brings you to the kitchens? You all certainly look happy about something." |

Star had to smile at the sight of the rounding mousewife as she washed dishes. "Angora, we need your help." She paused for a moment, her excitement showing on her face. "We need to plan a wedding. Tanon and I are getting married!"

Tanon remained silent, allowing Star to break the news to Angora, but he smiled and nodded at the mousewife to show it was actually true. ~ Angora gasped at the sound of the word married and dropped the wooden plate in her paws. She smiled widely as she walked over to the ottermaid and gave her a hug, chuckling. "Oh Star, thats wonderful news! You know, I've always felt that you two would make a wonderful couple." |
