Kiara, I would guess that at least four of them are boys, and since 3.5 is less than four, it is still a true statement.

Here is my first riddle. It was supposed to be much more complex than this, but this one will do until I can come up with a real riddle.
A Mouse was murdered.
~ The Ferret says that the Fox killed the Mouse. ~ The Rat says that the Hedgehog killed the Mouse. ~ The Hedgehog says that both the Ferret and the Fox killed the Mouse. ~ The Otter says that the Hedgehog is telling the truth. ~ The Fox says that he killed the Mouse.
Only one of these animals is telling the truth. Who is telling the truth, and who murdered the Mouse?

Korbaine: I'll have to say that the hedgehog is telling the truth and that the ferret and the fox killed the mouse.
~
good answer, but not the one I'm looking for.

Kor: The rat is telling the truth, because if only one is telling the truth, the otter must be lying, so the hedgehog would be lying, so the fox and the ferret would be lying.

Poisonsnarl got the correct answer:
If the Ferret had been telling the truth about the Fox killing the Mouse, the Fox would have been lying about killing the Mouse, so both the Fox and the Ferret are lying (because it works both ways).
If the Hedgehog had been telling the truth, then it would have meant that the Otter was lying about the Hedgehog telling the truth, and the Otter could not be telling the truth because only one animal was telling the truth.
That leaves only the Rat to tell the truth. The Hedgehog murdered the Mouse.
_____________
Kiara, perhaps they had seven children, plus one more, and half of them were boys. That's a longshot, since you said 3.5 instead of half...I'm just throwing it out there. I know I've heard this riddle before, and I know that the answer is exceptionally simple...I just can't remember it.

nope. I could have said half instead of 3.5. half of 7 is 3.5. I just used the 3.5

*Gasp* Is one of them not born? Because if one of there seven children is unborn...then it could be a boy or a girl.

I give up, Kiara.

Another terribly simple and pitiful excuse for a riddle:
I’m the first to depart When a flame dies. With a knife in your heart, I’d leave your eyes. I exist all around, Healing blindness and despair. By my will, all is found, And you can identify where.

What's the riddle, Korbaine? It just looks like a poem to me. What's the question that need's to be answered?

Light.
I haven't a clue...

Faolinthor was correct. The answer was light.
Sorry about the confusion, Kiara. I was under the impression that the object of a riddle written in the first person was to identify the author, which was, in that case, light. It was my mistake, and I'll remember to clarify next time.
I'll also remember to write as something more difficult than light.

New riddle:
A man was to be sentenced, and the judge told him, "You may make a statement. If it is true, I'll sentence you to four years in prison. If it is false, I'll sentence you to six years in prison." After the man made his statement, the judge decided to let him go free. What did the man say?
Kiara: I told my Dad your riddle, and he hasn't a clue. Now he's dying to know the answer.

lol. Has everyone given up?
The asnwer to your riddle, Poisonsnarl, is The man said "You'll sentance me to six years in prison." Therefore if the judge sentances him to 4 years the statment would be false, so he'd have to sentance him for 6 years but that would make the statment true. So the judge just let him go.

lol. The answer to my riddle is All 7 children are boys. All was said was that half (3.5) were boys, nothing was said about the other half.
here is an other one:
Be you ever so quick, with vision keen, by your eyes, we are never seen. Unless perchance it should come to pass, you see our reflection in a looking glass. What are we?
