Jellal chuckled, "Yeah.....one, this isn't the first time going through death traps like these. Two, the bombs would actually make going through that field suicide, and three." He says with a slight pause, then "Its all about technique." he said before tossing his pack to Inktail and did a running start into the field. He did a zig-zag course, then slowed and stopped completely, he proceeded to take careful steps around certain spots. He repeated this for a couple of times until he reached halfway across the booby trapped field. He took a deep breath, then did the unthinkable, he sprinted straight through the rest of field as a couple of small explosions occurred, obscuring him from sight in a purple cloud.

Inktail smiles as Jellal chuckles, "Ah, sorry about that then." He is about to ask what the rat meant by technique, but as he catches the pack, dammit what'd jellal keep in that thing to make it so heavy, he manages only a small. "Oof!" Then Jellal runs in, drawing a startled and worried yelp from Inktail. The weasel begins to whimper, eyes locked on his friend, he couldn't stand to watch this, but he knew if he ran in he'd just set something off hurting or killing them both possibly. Unable to do much to help his friend Inktail could only clutch at the bag he had been given to hold, arms holding it right to him, like a dibbun with their favorite blanket, as he bit his lip nervously and continued to whimper lightly.

As the purple smog cleared up, Jellal could be seen catching his breath up at the low walls surrounding the abandoned church. Once rested, he unsheathed his dagger, and cut something on the ground with a quick slice. "Alright! Most of the traps should be disarmed now!" He yelled out to Inktail from his spot. He did a quick look and nodded to himself, "Just head straight for a tick, then follow the rope on the ground and you should make it through just fine." He yelled out the directions to his probably worried friend now. He sheathed his dagger back and sat on the low wall waiting for him.

Inktail let out a tremendous sigh of relief as he saw Jellal alive and intact. He holds the pack tightly, not wanting to drop it, and carefully makes his way straight ahead. "A-alright mate, glad to see ya alive an unharmed!" He soon spots the rope mentioned, and quickly has his eyes on it, following its exact path. Taking this time to calm himself down a bit. Once reaching his friend he looks up to them and hands them their pack. "Jellal, mate, never do tha' without warning me again." Even with the time taken to calm himself, there is still that worried, no, scared tone in his voice. "Please."

Jellal carefully watched his friends progress, making sure he arrived unharmed. Once he did, he let out a breath of relief and accepted the pack from him. Hearing what inktail said, and the worried tone, no scared tone in his voice, he knew he should've at least told him what he planned to do. He made it of course, but in exchange, he put his friend on great edge for doing so. He put a comforting paw on the weasels shoulder, "I'm sorry for doing that mate, I promise to warn you if I doing something like that again." He said with a apologetic smile.

Inktail nods slowly, "Alright, I'm just glad we got through this alright." He shrugs and starts to smile in return to the one Jellal offers, "Well we made it through, intact, and at least one of us is in good spirits." He chuckles lightly, "So then, we got past the death traps, at least the first layer of 'em." He then looks about, "Now, what're we doin' ta get to the one tha' set 'em all eh mate?" He gets himself up onto the wall, next to Jellal, constantly casting his gaze around the courtyard.

Jellal had his gaze cast over the courtyard as well. This was the most dangerous part he reckoned, and.....may be a bit easier then it looks. He slowly got down and handed his friend his pack as he slowly crept to one of the headstones not far from them. He peeked around it and came back with a satisfied look. "I thought so, well Inktail, looks like were not the only ones here by the looks of it." He called out to his weasel friend. He then climbed up onto the headstone to get a better look from above and looked around.

Inktail will take the pack, with less surprise than before. He can't help but smile as Jellal walks back with that satisfied grin on their face. The weasel gets down from his seat and walks over "Oh we aren't eh?" He grins widely as he carefully makes his way over to his friend, "Who's the one here eh?" He eyes the headstone briefly, his paw strays to his sling out of habit. He waits cautiously for Jellal to complete their survey.

"We aren't the first visitors here." Jellal said as he got down on the side next to Inktail and picked up a small brown pack that was behind the headstone. Small patches of dried blood can be seen on the pack, "Not that old," He says before opening it and going through it, "Pity...not much." He then cast a slow gaze over the courtyard...he notices slight blood patches in certain spots, and rusted iron spikes impaled not far from each patch. "Seems Silvis and his helpers didn't have the field traps up yet before a couple of vagabonds come along. Probably looking for a place to stay for the day," he says while examining another patch, "Poor fools never realized this place was the killbox." He then picked up carefully on of the impaled iron spikes and examined the tip. He whistled in admiration, "Still sharp enough, dipped in paralytic poison. If the spike didn't kill you, the poison would've, and if the off chance it didn't work, most likely would've caught sick from the rusted tip. Still masterwork as always, especially from the Merchant of Death."

Inktail looked at the pack, dried blood on it still, and bite his lip nervously. "Poor beasts, tha's bad luck if ever there was it." He shakes his head in a somber way. "Thorough beast this Merchant o' Death." Inktail hands Jellal their pack back. "An' we're 'ere ta see him...remind me ta keep me mouth shut eh?" Inktail frowns and looks about this, 'killbox' "So then, I take it we aren't waitin' 'round in 'ere. Look, if yer runnin' off ahead again, jus' be careful alright?"

"Alright, but the question on my mind right now is...where are the bodies? There had to be a couple in the vagabond group, ten from what I can tell." He says while getting his main pack back from inktail. "Now...for getting inside, that should be relatively easy now." He says as he slowly walked a certain way, avoiding certain spots again, but also jumping at certain parts as well. "Just follow my path, and you'll be fine, alright inktail?" He says as he leaps the last part, reaching probably the only wooden door still standing in the the church, leading inside.

Inktail nods, "Well, it's not to surprisin' if ya ask me, I'd not leave 'ere fer anyone ta find." He shrugs, it was not something he liked to hear, not at all, but it was too late to change it. "Alright Jellal, I can manage that." He grins and follows in his friend's footsteps, careful to watch for where he had stepped. A strange sense of excitement to see where this will lead them creeping in and replacing some of his fear.

Jellal had been checking the door to make sure it wasn't booby trapped as well. He gave a sigh and unsheathed his dagger, "No traps, but he locked it instead, don't know why considering it seems redundant to do so." He said as he picked the lock with his dagger quickly and heard a satisfying click was heard. "Were in." He said quietly as he carefully edged the door opened, and surprisingly it opened quietly enough. "Oiled hinges, probably a route of escape." He suggested as he crept in and hid behind a pillar quickly. He motioned for inktail to do the same as he kept watch.

Inktail stops and waits silently as jellal picks the lock, "better safe than sorry maybe." He offers as a response to their comment about locking it. He nods "A back way out, always a good plan." He quickly darts behind a pillar, not quite as quickly or silently as Jellal, but for a creature not guild trained, he's not bad at it. Inktail nods towards Jellal, saying he's ready for the next move. Keeping an eye on the way ahead, looking back to his friend at times. He finds himself loading a stone to his sling, again, just in case.

Jellal could see why no sane beast would come to St. Ninians anymore, outside it clearly showed it was in a bad condition, but inside it looked even more worse. Cobwebs hung in corners, rotten benches littered the center of the dilapidated building, and the silence with the muffled creaking sound. Muffled creaking sound...jellal took a quick peek upwards and came back a little shocked. "Found the bodies." He whispered to Inktail. If one were to look up, they would indeed be frightened by the sight of five dead vermin hanging from the rafters by nooses. The five consisted of two rats, a ferret, and a weasel, though a sixth form is seen slumped on the other side on a still standing bench.

Inktail was already thoroughly creeped out by the church, he was quietly trying to not think of where he was. It was really quite hard to do so though, the whole place was like something out of one of those stories your mother tells you to scare you out of doing bad things. He turns to Jellal as they speak, looking up afterwards he barely catches the exclamation before he gives their position away. His eyes, naturally, stray first to the weasel. He eventually tears them away, looking towards the figure on the bench.

Jellal already thought of a plan to try and at least not get either of them killed. "Whatever you do...do NOT walk out into the open underneath them." He whispered to Inktail, indicating the very thin ropes noosed around the hanging vermin's necks. "Otherwise.....we both join them up there. Head along that side behind the pillars, I'll go this way. Remember....stay out of the open." Jellal whispered urgently as he head along one side of the church, sneaking behind the pillars one at a time. Thin wire...its been a while since he saw those been used...deadly in its own rights for assassins. The longer version of a garrote...as he remembered Silvis told him once about it, with enough pressure, the wire would cut both the throat and windpipe of the victim. In essence, unless you had something blocking one part of your neck, you were doomed as soon as it was looped around your neck.

Inktail nodded, he'd seen enough snare traps to know the general idea, replace foot with neck, and well...noose ready to go. "Aye, no need ta tell me, I kno 'ow a noose works." He frowns and does as suggested, staying behind the pillars, following carefully behind Jellal, careful not to cause much movement from his sling, no need to reveal the nature of the special stones he'd loaded. Taking a calming breath Inktail mulled over what they knew, they were coming here to repay a favor, others had tried to stay for a night maybe, didn't end well. He knew he shouldn't focus on negatives, but he couldn't help it.

Jellal was soon in position and could see the slumped over figure clearly. It was a older looking rat, his fur starting to most likely gray with age, and could see his neck in a odd angle. Snapped neck, quick and relatively painless, happened so quickly he probably only got to let out his final breath of this world. It wasn't Silvis though, he was a lot older, and a bit tougher then he looked, much more then he lets on. He gave what he hoped Inktail would consider a all clear signal, and crept closer to examine the dead rat.

Inktail nodded, and relaxed lightly. The all clear given, Inktail follows along behind Jellal carefully, standing straight after all that skulking about felt rather good. Looking about the area Inktail made sure to keep an eye on entrances or exits, just in case someone was watching them, leaving the finer examination to jellal for now.
