The morning time always rose swiftly, something that Rex hated even though he woke up early. The feeling of sleeping for a short period of time and the next day coming always made him somewhat cranky in the morning. The large Otter sat up swiftly, dipped his head in the cold flowing waters, dried off, and stretched his muscular limbs.
Rex let off a yawn before getting himself ready for the day ahead. "Rise an' shine you two, we 'ave some walkin' t' do if we're gettin' t' Redwall!" He said loud enough hopefully to wake the other two sleeping beasts up.
The sun was just beginning to rise outside of the camp. It was definitely an early morning for traveling, but necessary if they wanted to be at Redwall before afternoon.

Jellal groaned in his sleep. Waking up early, was not his thing. When he was back home, doing jobs at night sucked in his opinion. Though the night was perfect for thieving, getting lack of sleep was the worst part of it. He never enjoyed it, even though he liked being a thief.
He rolled over and grumbled."A few more minutes." He said grumpily. Early morning wake ups were near the top of the list of things he hated.

Inktail was in the middle of a rather nice dream, something involving him about to land the biggest fish in the river Moss, but a loud voice nearby threw off his balance causing him to yelp as he woke and realized it was Rex. Grumbling and muttering Inktail turns over, slowly pushing himself to his feet, having gotten to his feet he walked to the water's edge and dunked his head in.
After a few seconds he pulls it free of the waters, gives it a quick shake, and blinks a few times. Chuckling as he hears Jellal, smiling in a slightly tired way as he looks to Rex.
"G'morning to yerself also, I'll rise, but I refuse ta shine. C'mon Jellal I don't think Rex'll be taking no as an answer fer very long." With a mischievous twinkle in his eyes he looks at Rex "He ain't getting up mate, I suppose ya could just swim him through like this eh?"

Rex tapped his claws on his chin as he heard Jellal grumble. "Oh.. That's no good." He said quietly to himself with a sigh.
He noticed Inktail move about and smiled. "It's always good t' shine! Buck up lads, it's show time." Rex looked down to Jellal falling asleep again as Inktail spoke and smiled. "I 'ear ya. I'll do it th' same way I did it with that traveler who didn't want t' go in." Rex notched his belt tight, secured his blade to his hip and started sprinting toward Jellal.
"Time t' go!!" He dove straight, and like lightning grabbed hold of the Rat in a vice like bear hug. He continued his run quickly to the river.

Jellal was in the middle of a dream when he heard loud and fast stomps. Stomping? No....running footsteps? Why would someone...oh shtako. His thoughts were interrupted as he felt himself get grabbed in a vice like bear hug.
"Hey! Let me go!" Jellal says in a frightened squeak. He noticed he was being carried to the river fast. "No,no,no,no,NOOOO!" He yells in fright at where hes being carried off to.

Inktail chuckled as Rex grabbed him, not really paying it much mind. Thinking Rex wouldn't actually try it, but as he hears Jellal screaming he realizes something, Rex isn't stopping.
For a brief second Inktail does nothing, then he sprints, trying to catch up, while shouting to the fleeing otter,
"Rex I wasn't being serious! Waaait!" he calls as he dashes to try and catch up to them. Inktail probably won't catch up, Rex has a head-start and a longer stride. If Rex does get in the river first Inktail would dive in after him, pack and all.

Rex squeezed tightly as his pace was at a maximum speed. "Just shut yer eyes, an' take a deep breath!! This'll be over quicker than you can imagine!"
The large Otter was nearing the edge of the river bank before turning his head back to see Inktail coming after him. "I'm already almost there matey! It's too late t' stop, it'll be worse if we stop an just sink in! .. Geronimo!!" With that, the big beast leaped into the air before gracefully diving at full speed. They shot into the water like a rocket with the force of the dive making a large wave like splash.

Jellal forcibly agreed to what Rex said and shut his eyes. Just before they reached the water, he managed to take a deep breath and hold it.
He was scared...more so when he felt himself go underwater. He suppressed the instinct to try and break free to head to the surface. he had to hold strong, otherwise...he might drown before they got out, which he did not plan on doing. Jellal did not want to die, not like this. He rather die from old age then something like drowning to his death.

Hearing Rex's comment, Inktail nodded, pushing himself to go full tilt as much as he can manage compared to Rex. The Otter hits the water well before he could.
"I'm right behind ye both mateys, right behind ya!" He says more to himself as he saw Rex hit the water like a bolt from the blue. Leaping into the water in a slightly less skillful dive than the otter, he still makes a good showing of having learned from them. Likely not getting more than a fleeting glimpse of Rex's rudder, Inktail pushes himself to swim as fast as he'd learned to try and keep up.

The monster of an Otter rocketed through the cool waters using his big powerful legs and rudder to propel him and Jellal forward. His speed kept increasing to a breakneck pace, showing his true champion swimming capabilities. In no time at all he broke from the surface, exploding out of the other side with a big splash. He landed on his hind legs and gently set down Jellal. "We're outside!"
Rex dumped his head into the water quickly, spotting the quick moving small creature of a weasel getting close. The Otter took his head out of the water and gave a toothy grin. "That 'un's quick in th' water, no doubt that 'e's an Otter at 'eart." He looked back over to Jellal and sat next to the Rat. "'Ope I didn't scare ya too bad now. We 'ad t' leave sometime today." He said while chuckling softly.

When they broke out of the water he took in a deep breath of fresh air. When he was set down he finally opened his eyes and coughed slightly. "Maybe a little warning next time alright?" He said before shaking himself dry.
He hated deep water so much. He was scared though on how long it took for him to finally reach land. Already his thoughts of that near death in his past came back to him. Always it made him think bad thoughts, like on what death he would rather have then drowning, it was quite bad.

Seeing Rex almost seemingly fly through the water ahead of him Inktail was glad when he saw them breach the surface. Pushing himself to keep up Inktail was able to spot Rex's head as he dunked it in to check if he was following. Within seconds Inktail himself surfaces, though in far less spectacular a manner than the Otter.
"Whew, ye've got me outpaced and tha's a fact Rex." Inktail pulls himself from the river, putting down the pack, shaking off as much of the water as he can before walking towards Jellal and Rex.
"I hope yer alright mate, didn't think the big guy'd actually take off running like that, on th' bright side yer outta th' camp and we didn' need ta knock ya out." He smiles amicably and puts a kind paw on the rat's shoulder.

"HALT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" the voice came from nowhere, or everywhere. It was a matter of opinion. The voice was gruff, and rude, with a South Stream accent. A shrew. The shrew in question was hidden thirty meters north on the riverbank, camouflaged perfectly. He turned back, and whispered to the squad of armed Mossguard behind him, "'Ow's that?"
"Och, good laddie, now, yon' tell tha'm tha' deal, ye ken" the leader whispered. The leader, like everyone in the squad (except Beech, the squirrel, who was in the trees doing recon) lay flat on his stomach. He was a mountain hare, with patches of lilac peeking out of his normally cream-white pelt. Well, that is if you could see his fur, under the heavy ghille suit he wore. Standard in the Mossguard; each beast with him wore one, as well as donning powerful longbows and javelins.
"A'wright, Boss!" The shrew whispered back to the hare, before sticking his snout into the log, and shouting out, "YOU'S BEAST'S BE'S TRESPASSING ON MOSSFLOWER LAND! SPEAK YOU'S BUSINESS, OR BE FIRED UPON! THIS IS YOU'S ONLY WARNING!" The log verberated the sound throughout the woods, making the sound source unknown.
--
"We should have brought Barley, at least he can speak!" one of the underling hares whispered to his companion, a squirrel.
The log-shrew shot a dirty glare at the hare, "Sherrup'!" he hissed.

"Of course, next time I promise I'll warn ya! On me affidavit I will." Rex said sincerely to Jellal. He heard Inktail break surface and come close to them. "Glad ya made it matey! Yer a quick little Weasel, a true Otter though, if I do say so myself!" He chuckled at Inktails comment and replied swiftly, "Well years of trainin' th' body an' buildin' boats, 'omes, an' other 'eavy things 'elps a lot with yer swimmin'. I could never move like that when I was younger."
HALT!!!!!!!!!!
Rex heard it loud and clear before picking up the rest of rude tone of voice. Not knowing where it was, he had a general idea of where the sound was reverberating and faint scent of other beasts, but he couldn't put his paw on the exact spot. He withdrew his sword from it's jeweled scabbard and growled low before shouting back. "I don't 'ave to tell ya nothin'!! But I live in these woodlands, an' if anythin', yer tresspassin' 'ere vermin! Wot are ya, Stoats?! Ferrets?!!
The giant Otter was ready to battle it out. He looked back to the other two, whispering to them. "You two ready fer some good ol' fashioned fightin'? This is 'ow some adventures go, wouldn't expect to be under attack this early though. We 'aven't even made it t' Redwall yet."

He was tired, cold, and not in the mood for a fight. he clearly knew it was a shrew talking. He got up and yelled back, "Listen hear you short gruffy shrew, I know your shrew, don't even try to deny it. I know all about the Mossguard! me and my weasel friend met your leader Rewhane whatever. Besides the point, I AM NOT IN THE MOOD FOR THIS!"
Jellal was clearly not in the mood for a fight, especially with a shrew and the Mossguard. Hes had to go through his fear of drowning twice. He does not feel like going through, he rather dry off and maybe get something to eat. But noooo.....a short, gruffy shrew just had to ruin even that.

Inktail frowns at the ruckus being kicked up up now. Calmly leaning on his Ash staff he notes how Rex seems to have an idea where they are hiding at, and Jellal recognizing it as a shrew. Mossguard, a risky bluff on his friend's part but it may work.
Inktail walks over to stand by Rex, "thanks fer the compliment earlier mate by the way." and looks best he can figure where the sound may be coming from. Taking a breath he speaks in a raised tone, but not so aggressive as to really be shouting.
"Look 'ere, I don't know who ye are, but I can tell ye now, I'm no trespasser, I'm Inktail Furtif an' I've lived on th' river moss me whole life. I've not done anythin' ta be treated with this disrespect. Like me friend 'ere said, how're we ta tell it's not you trespassing eh? Why don't you state yer business, name an' rank?"

OOC: I apoligize guys for the delay. Was out of state camping for the last few days and just got back.
"SHERRUP YOUR TRAPS! WE BE'S ASKING THEM QUESTIONS!" the shrew voice barked back.
"Och, laddie, stow yon trap, ye ken! Ah'll be doin' tha talkin' now, a'wight?" the leader replied, taking the the spot at the log.
--
"OCH, YE' WEE LADDIES, AH PRESSURE YON FOLKS TO HEED TO THA' WARNINGS! LAY DOWN YON ARMS, AND MEET ME AN' MAH' LADS IN THE RIVER, OR AH'M AFRAID WE'LL HAVE TROUBLE. AH PROMISE YON FOLKS AH'LL NOT CARRY MAH' ARMS EITHER, YE KEN!"

Rex listened some more and felt good to have brave beasts by his side. He knew the two younger ones would make great traveling warriors present and in the future. He heard the orders of the harsh accented voice and let his weapon plop onto the ground. He put his paws up and walked forward. "I know that accent from anywhere, that's a beast from th' northern side of th' country. Drop yer weapons, lads, they mean us no 'arm. Just be cautious.." Rex said before continuing his walk
"Just follow my lead an' everythin' will be fine." He turned back forward and shouted back at the hidden voices. "We are comin' forward! Our paws are up, we mean you no 'arm!" He said in a loud and confident, but reassuring voice. He just hoped that these beasts weren't going to harm them. The giant Otter would take full responsibility of the two if something were to happen. He was on his guard and ready for anything.

Jellal calmed down enough to compose himself. Hearing what Rex said, he silently agreed with the otter. Being cautious, pretty much second nature to him anyway. He dropped his only weapon, which was a dagger, to the ground. The dagger dropped point first, sticking into the soft ground.
"Dropped my only weapon, coming unarmed!" He yelled, following Rex behind him, arms up. He already made a plan in case this turned sour. It involved two of the six things he made back in Camp Willow. Though it will be quite enduring, a extended bath would be needed after it if it ever happened.

Keeping calm and alert, Inktail pushes his staff to stick where he was leaning on it. Putting his pack down, and removing the knife from his belt to lay it by his pack he keeps his paws up, palms outwards.
"That's all I've got worth usin' ta fight with. Lookin' forwards ta meetin' ye."
Inktail stays quiet, he heard a few things about northerners from that hare a few years back. Needless to say he was nervous, going in unarmed, the short weasel knew to keep his cool, this was just like approaching a skittish little mouse along the river. Be calm, don't seem threatening, and let them know you don't mean harm. Nonetheless, he tried to remember how that hare had thrown that punch so hard, just in case.
