As the sun has passed it's zenith and begins it's decent for the afternoon a lone figure can be seen and heard, humming a jaunty tune as he wanders alongside the River Moss. Inktail Furtif, a weasel, keeping a calm eye out around him and his ears open, smiling as he looks about, finding one of his favorite fishing spots.
"Yep, right about here." Taking a seat he looks around him, quiet as the just past midday air around him. Grinning, he relaxes and occupies himself with setting line and hook to a pole he had left nearby for his next stop here.
The forest was close to his little 'camp' but this never bothered him, he was fairly confident that nothing was waiting to jump him, I mean firstly he's a weasel that's already less likely to be attacked then a mouse or some other poor creatures, and what would they be after, whatever he managed to catch?
With a chuckle the shorter than average weasel cast out the line and hook newly attached to his fishing pole, and wondered what the current would bring his way today.

Jellal was not a very happy rat now. Ever since sneaking out of the port town the merchant ship stopped at, hes had a few strings of bad luck happening to him. Firstly, it was tripping through a bramble brush, and then almost getting stung to death by bees. He did not like the start his journey right off the bat. He knew there would bumps along his travelling, but not like this. After finally getting the last of the brambles from out of his black fur, bad luck struck again. This time though, he tripped and started rolling down a hill, "Oof-ow,ow,ow, ow, ow..." He says while tumbling down the hill, and then finally lands into the River moss. This brought a very bad reaction to Jellal, as his fear of deep water struck him. "Help! He-"He gets interrupted as he is carried along the current, trying to stay afloat.

Deathfang, now reduced to a bad limp, trodded along the River Moss, hoping to find a fishing spot. Suddenly, at the back of his mind, he remebered a fishing spot from days earlier. Deathfang turned to the right and began trodding down a path. There was broken ferns and kicked up soil. Someone had obviously been here earlier.... Striding down to the fishing spot, he was just about to step in when he noticed somebeast-no, wait, two beasts at the spot. One was sitting and the other appeared to be drowning. As he got closer, he saw it was a weasel and a rat. Deathfang ran forward, pulled off his cloak, and dived into the water. He grabbed ahold of the drowning rat and swam to the shore. He pulled the rat over his shoulders as he surfaced, and then layed the rat on the ground.
"Are you alright, rat?

When he heard the rat he pulled his pole away dropped it, ready to go in, but another creature had already sprung to action, a big creature. Seeing the cat pulling the rat from the river he moved nearer and set about starting a fire.
"Bring him over here, warmth will do him some good." A serious expression on his face, he learned how much a fall into the river can affect a creature not used to it.
"Lucky rat, heck lucky enough to have two creature's who could swim out nearby." The weasel looks over the pair of them the rat didn't look like much of a threat, given his current state of being, but that wildcat, he frowned, that wildcat was a big guy and Inktail was no fighter.
"Here, both of you, warm up, name's Inktail by the way, Inktail Furtif."

Jellal just shivered from the cold river water and from almost drowning. "Wa-wa-water..bad...bad..."He manages to while shivering from fear. He hated deep water, especially since it reminded him of his near death experience from a flood. He couldn't hear what the weasel and wildcat were saying due to his shivering and fear induced state.
He finally heard the weasel say what his name was. "Na-name...i-is...Je-Jellal." He manages to say from his shivering.

Deathfang seemed to remember something, and he walked over to get his cloak. Retrieving it, he walked back over to the fire and placed the cloak upon the rat to warm him. Deathfang then got up again and trodded down to the river and pulled out his bow and arrow. He waited for a minute and then let the arrow fly into the water. Seconds later, Deathfang picked up a fish with an arrow stuck in it. He placed it by his side. 5 minutes later, he had 6 fish. Satisfied, Deathfang picked the fish up and stuck them on his sword blade. Walking over to the warmth of the flames, he took some pices of wood, carved them, and created a miniature wooden spit, which he stuck his sword in. As Deathfang twisted his sword around on the spit, the fish began to cook....

Inktail nodded as Jellal gave his name, frowning as the cat did not, the feline lend the rat his cloak for warmth. Nodding at the kinder gesture he retrieved his pole, casting out his line again, something told him the cat was not the sharing sort.
"Pleased to meet ya Jellal, little surprised at the context, but pleased to meet ya just the same, and the same to you sir."
Inktail soon had a bite, silent while he pulls it from the river,
"So, not to pry, but what brings you to this end of the river?" he asks, baiting the hook again and casting out once more, thinking to get a second for the rat.
"I'll be honest I've not had the chance to get this close to a wildcat," He grunted as he got the second bite and fought this one to shore as well.
Setting them both aside he began to remove their scales while he listened, and waited for the feline to finish using the fire.

Jellal tried to take a nap, but every time he fell asleep, memories of the flood would come rushing back to him, haunting him. He could hear the raging waters as if it was happening again, and could hear the screams of islanders being washed away in it. He finally decided to stay awake in fear of those horrible dreams. He looked visibly exhausted, and sore.
"Whe-where are we exactly...Inktail?" Jellal says with a slight stammer in his voice.

After the fish cooked, Deathfang took the sword off. Turning toward Inktail, he said, "Hey! You...uh, Inktail! You want any? Name's Deathfang, by the way." Deathfang turned back and asked the same thing for Jellal.

Inktail had a good eye for noticing things about others, quickly noticing how tired Jellal looks.
"Jellal, this is Mossflower Woods. Specifically right along the river Moss." starting on the smaller of the two fish he looks towards, DeathFang did he just say, hmm yeah with tooth like that one the name makes sense.
"Heheh, nah I'm okay I prefer to catch my own, old habit, when I was old enough to learn, if I didn't catch it it took some working to get to eat it. Pleased to meet you then DeathFang. I hope you're travelling through here on good terms then, I'd hate to be the creature to get on the wrong side of you if those scares are anything to judge by. "
Inktail was cautious around others by nature, most of the time at any rate. He smiles and turns the fish in pan over before letting it sit to finish cooking. He takes a seat near Jellal, taking an old cloak from his pack nearby to lay the fish on as he starts the other.

At least he got answers onto where he was supposed to go exactly. But the mention of the River Moss cause him to shiver.
"As you could...umm, tell. I can't exactly swim. On land, I'm as agile as a squirrel, but in water, I'm like a rock." Jellal says in a polite tone, remembering what his foster father always said about manners.
"Question umm...Inktail? Do you live around here...near the river?" Jellal asked Inktail. He felt slightly nervous about the wildcat Deathfang though. Probably because of the name, and the reputation known to all wildcats.

Deathfang takes two of the fish, one big and the other small, and begins chowing down on them, his sharp incisorcutting through the flesh. Taking a break from his dinnner, Deathfang lays down and stares at the stars. He glances over an Jellal and inktail.
"So how did you come here, fellow vermin?"

Inktail grins wide at the question, moving the pan from the fire and starting on the first of the two fish he had caught,
"Born and raised here DeathFang, got split from my tribe after a bad fight with a group of otters, been making my own way since then." He smirks and sits back,
"And yeah," he turns to Jellal as he says this "I don't live too far from here." Turning back to DeathFang
"No grand purpose or anything of the like, this just happens to be my neck of the woods. What about you guys?"

After listening to Inktail talking, Jellal could tell he could trust him. Deathfang on the other hand, he didn't trust him completely, or that much. When he heard Inktail ask his question, he thought he might as well tell him, since he was gonna start stealing sooner or later.
"Umm...how to put this in a simple way... I'm a thief, pickpocket, master lockpicker,or even more easier...a Guild Thief at your service." Jellal says with a slight bow, but then sneezes.
"Yeah umm...thats pretty much it." Jellal says.

Deathfang moved closer to the fire and began to tell his story.
"Well, you see, I had been kicked out of a horde a year ago, when this otter attacked me looking for the whereabouts of her sisters. I didn't know where her siblings were. Said her name was Esmerelda Jade. So I attacked her in self defense, and," Deathfang says, pointing to his eyepatch,"she scratched me across the eye and then gouged the eye out. I ran away, swearing revenge. I began to track her and eventually she came to Redwall Abbey. When she left to go to Salamandastron, I followed her. I killed one of her contacts when he was telling something to her. It was a rat named Sniffler. I was about to kill her, too, but then the Mossguard came. I got shot in the leg by a squirrel. So, I escaped, and went to find a fishing spot, when I remembered this place. So I came, but you two were already here. I saw Jellal drowning, and I felt that it wouldn't be right to hide and watch another vermin die."

Inktail's smile faltered, only for a moment, and he suddenly felt a little more nervous. This cat was BAD NEWS, and he was right next to said cat. Inktail's smile was back soon enough, after a light cough "Sorry, scale got caught. So then, I seem to have fallen into some rather talented company, a guild thief, I must say I'm impressed by the Jellal, and a skilled warrior." Inktail frowns a little "I'm not sure what I'd do in that kind of situation, well the whole on the run, out for blood thing I mean, I'm pretty sure we both were on the same page about helping out Jellal."
"Either of you planning on sticking around this area long?"

Jellal had the same thoughts about Deahfang, he was BAD NEWS. He considered just sneaking off in the middle of the night, but he couldn't do that while in the condition he was in now. His thoughts were interrupted when Inktail asked his question.
"Oh uhh...probably for a bit....not long really." Jellal says, covering up the nervousness in his voice well.
"I'm gonna...just be gone for a bit, I left my pack some ways up before falling into the river." He shivered slightly from the when he said river. He got up, took the cloak off, folded it and put it on the ground.
"I'll just be a few minutes." Jellal says just before heading off into the direction parallel with the river.

Deathang noted the waryness in Jellals voice and looked at the rat. A smile came over his face and he said, "Trying to run away, are we? Don't worry, I won't hurt fellow vermin." Deathfang then got up and put his cloak back on.
"And I was the one who saved you. Show some gratitude."

Inktail calmly remained seated as Jellal got up, "Alright then," He notices Deathfang getting up, trying not to let it show that the cat's smile was somewhat unsettling to him.
"Would you like a paw looking for it?" Inktail does not feel the need to point out that he figures by left Jellal means dropped, and gets calmly to his feat grabbing the ash staff he always has on him as a walking stick. "I mean it's not like any of us is in a rush, right?"

"Yeah...were not in a rush. I'll take that extra paw in finding my pack." Jellal says while he resumed walking.
"As I said before Deathfang, it won't take long, and thank you for saving me." He says the last part without letting out a bit of contempt before leaving out of his sight. Finally some good distance away from earshot of Deathfang, he sighed.
"I think I should slink off....better now then later..."He says quietly.
