"Ne'er tried tae knock aff a feaither frae a crow's behin' but aam willin' tae gie it a shot."
"Hawhaw! Ah see whit ye did thaur."
"We dae ken hoo tae use a huntin' blade fur melee weapon when need tae an aw."
Saxifrage chortled along with the twins, nodding happily.
"Crows're a real plague, sae if we see any ye can hae a braw clear shot at its behin' an' other attached parts. Ye bairns ken th' difference atween a crow's front an' hin'?"
A mischievous grin at that; it wasn't a serious question, and an alert beast could see the big gray hare glace around before he posed it - checking if there were maids he wouldn't want to provide the answer around.
A buck has to have some standards, after all.
"Ye . . . are eager t'learn, aye?"
"They're eager fur somethin', Fuzzae Lizard, e'en if it's only tae make mah dear sister pull 'er lugs out. But yoo're th' hare tae teach 'em tae use a guid auld bladed stick, I'll chase them wi' mah auld whisker-trimmer here, an' atween us we'll make them intae proper bucks!"

The twins both stuck their tongues out at their uncle. They could tell they were being poked at and were perfectly content with leaving that question in the air to think about.
But still . . . "T'would be a jolly ol' boon t'the both of ye if ye got some bolly weapons experience," the corporal asserted. "An' far be it from a fighter like meself t'withhold such knowledge from eager young minds, wot?" His golden eyes scrutinized the twins.
"Ye . . . are eager t'learn, aye?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
The Corporal had the boy's attention until their uncle spoke up once more, both crossing their arms as they sat upright, ears fully erect in a haughty manner.
"Ay coorse we're eager tae learn!" They both announced proudly in unison.
"We wanted tae learn sae much was th' problem, mom couldnae stan' it!" Lark stated, arms uncrossing from his chest before refolding them behind his head, grinning regardless.
"Nae oor faut she couldnae keep up wi' us an' th' clan properly," Rasp added in, leaning forward on his own arms against the table, looking to Cordin with a curious gaze. "Dad's always said 'at a smart warrior will try his paw at anythin' tae fin' what he's best at." And he grinned, seeming pleased at that.
"Ye sure ye cin keep up wi' two young hares, auld timer?" Lark asked pointedly to their older uncle, a playful smirk on his face about it.

"Ay coorse we're eager tae learn!" They both announced proudly in unison.
Cordin smiled in amusement. These two were going to give him a time, he could tell. But at least there'd never be a dull moment. "Jolly good!" he exclaimed. "Just wot I bloody well love t'see! Eager young recruits. Makes all the flippin' difference when yore first learning, wot? Better t'be enjoyin' yoreself than dreadin' every bolly moment."
((Okay, I k ow it's really short, but I don't know what to do now, sorry.))

"Ye sure ye cin keep up wi' two young hares, auld timer?"
Saxifrage shuckled at that, answering with word rather than action - a quick, well-placed blow to Lark's chest sent the younger buck sprawling to the floor. When Rasp laughed at his brother, the big hare knocked him over too before Rasp could really register that his Uncle had moved.
"An' arenae ye th' quick-thinkin', ever-vigilant pair!"
He chortled as he stood over the pair, nugding each back down with a footpaw as they tried to rise. It didn't take long for it to degenerate into a three-way wrestling match. Not strictly allowed, perhaps, but it seemed like a good welcome to the mountain to him.

Rasp laughed, "Aye, Ah cin agree tae that!" he admitted.
And that was when the large mountain hare struck Lark. Rasp sputtered, beginning to laugh at the sudden move (which left him all the more open for Saxifrage to easily get him down without a fight).
"An' arenae ye th' quick-thinkin', ever-vigilant pair!"
That was fuel to the fire. For the twins, much like their uncle, this was a lovely welcome. Fighting like this was a sign of affection after all in their minds! Of course it was a bit uneven of a fight with the twins making it two versus one and not quite unskilled in brawling (of course not seasoned warriors by any means but a good brawling match was healthy for any Hare of either gender!) and neither were under working together in attempt to try and bring the massive muscle of Hare down. Of course just as this was quickly started, Lark got thrown off Saxifrage right in Cordin's direction, giving out a yell of surprise and no good attempt at stopping himself. Hopefully he could catch onto the table to prevent bowling over it into the Corporal.
(Permission granted from Nikki for what little powerplay of Sax I did.)

Cordin could have ducked in the millisecond of time given him as Lark was hurled in his direction. But he didn't move. He knew ducking would have let Lark continue to fly past him, possibly into another table. Bracing himself, the corporal took the full force of the other hare's body slamming into him. With a grunt, he fell back, Lark atop him.
"Oh, jolly good show!" Cordin laughed. He slid out from underneath the younger hare and jumped upright, heaving Lark to his feet. The corporal then bounded onto the table and looked for his opening. Rasp and Saxifrage were wrestling one-on-one, and Cordin was still deciding which side he was on.
Ah, it didn't matter! With a yell, he launched himself at Saxifrage, latching onto the massive hare's neck and shoulders.
((DANGIT, now I have to draw this scene!))

"Sorry Fuzzae!" Saxifrage called, seeing that he'd nearly taken out the corporal via the time-honored Flying Nephew Attack. He laughed as Cordin heaved the boy back at him, deftly redirecting him so that he crashed into his brother, and got back onto his footpaws...
...only for Cordin to come flying onto his back.
The big hare laughed even harder at that, reaching back to try to seize the corporal; if he captured him, he would happily toss him onto the twins.
This day just got better and better!

((Do it, Jan! I'd love to see your interpretation. X3 I want to do one as well, hee!))
The less than graceful landing on the Corporal got the twin laughing as well once the world stopped moving. Hauled to his feet, Lark grinned brightly at the easily fun time he was having (until his uncle had him directed into Rasp who not only caught him but shoved him away).
With Cordin jumping atop Saxifrage, it was pretty much from there a free for all in their minds. The more the merrier, after all!
"Ah say! Look at'm gae!" Rasp called out, laughing as he danced away from his brother attempting a retaliating shove from their impact.
"Keep an eye oan them! Uncle is crafty, an' we have nae seen Cordin at play yit remember?" Lark stated, spinning to catch himself on his balance. If the Corporal was about to get thrown at them, the tins were more than ready to catch him themselves this time, more than capable of working together and knowing that their mountain of an uncle may need all three to bring down right and proper.

Caught up in the merriment and the exhilaration of an improv spar, Cordin laughed along with the other hares. As Saxifrage reached back for him, he twisted and contorted himself to keep out of the bigger hare's grasp. He knew it wouldn't work for long, so he decided to make his move.
He released the hold he had on Sax with his legs, swinging them back behind and over himself until he was doing a handstand atop the Sergeant's shoulders, and then he dropped his paws off. Tucking his head in, he fell in a straight line towards the floor, his back brushing against Sax's. Catching himself with his arms, he kicked back mightily, his hind paws connecting with the small of Sax's back. He then brought his legs back around, righting himself so he knelt on all fours now.
Unorthodox method, at best, but at least he hadn't been thrown yet. Not that he would mind. "Sorry ol' boy," he chortled, jumping back to his feet. He crouched into a fighting stance, wary of the twins looking for an opening nearby.

Sax stumbled a bit, grunting as he was kicked, but really? He could only laugh.
"Och weel done, Fuzzae mah auld Lizard! Yoo're as nimble withoot yer pokin' stick as ye are wi'!"
He was still chuckling as he turned to face the Corporal with a neat little hop, grinning broadly as he lunged forward to try engaging him in a proper grapple. Cordin was, of course, smart enough to avoid being seized, but maybe if he moved fast enough he could get him in a headlock - or turn on one of the twins if they ventured too close.

It was both a great learning experience and something enjoyable to watch while Cordin was latched onto Saxifrage and how they were handling one another. Once they broke apart and Saxifrage advanced in attempt to grapple, they twins moved then to separate with intent to flank their elders, Rasp to Cordin and Lark to Saxifrage. Their intent was to at least get into position if the grapple did not work; if it did the boys would attempt to jump on their respective elder to take advantage of their distractions.
((My turn to be sorry for the short. ^^; ))

Cordin kept his eyes on Sax, but he watched the twins move in from his peripherals. As Sax lunged and the twins advanced, the corporal suddenly turned and tackled Rasp. They tumbled over each other for a few feet, laughing the whole way. Cordin managed to pin the darker hare down, grinning in triumph.
"Don't worry, m'boy," he said encouragingly. "'Tis bloody 'ard t'sneak up on me, wot?" He rolled off of Rasp and got back onto his feet, golden eyes sparking with excitement. Twine-wrapped paws balled into fists, the spry young corporal laughed at the mixture of reactions on the faces of the spectators. The older officers were either furious or rolling their eyes. The younger officers and cadets were cheering them on. A few of them stood as if to join the fight, but they hesitated, wary eyes on the higher-ranked officers.
With a cheeky grin, Cordin once again flipped up the collar of his red uniform, making sure the movement caught the eye of Brigadier Thymes. The officer spluttered indignantly and turned his gaze to the ceiling as if begging the heavens for help. Laughing again, Cordin returned his attention to the fight.

Sax laughed, unbothered by being dodged, and almost lazily reached out to snare Lark as Cordin caught Rasp. His nephew was hefted up in a full nelson as the big hare, apparently unbothered by the disapproval of the older officers.
"That's so! Cordin's got mair eyes than lugs an' they're aw oan whoever he's facin'!"
He waited until Lark's struggling reached his peak before dropping the younger buck and trying to snare Cordin himself. Hm, maybe he could rope some of those eager-looking youngsters into this!

Suddenly tackled, Rasp hit the ground with the wind knocked from him, trying to laugh but it hurt in the process.
"Don't worry, m'boy," he said encouragingly. "'Tis bloody 'ard t'sneak up on me, wot?"
"Cin nae blame me for tryin'!" Rasp managed out as he hefted himself up, regaining his breath and still energetic, hyper and smiling all the way. Noticing Cordin looking about, Rasp grinned to the eager fellow Cadets and taps his chest. "C'mon! Who'd like ae gae?" Why yes! He was all for as many to jump in as possible! This place easily could be just like home!
Lark meanwhile was trying to twist and struggle against the full nelson, and was just as determined to try and get out with a full splurge of name calling while he did it! So once he was dropped, he bounced away out of immediate grabbing range of his uncle, flexing his arms to adjust to the hold he had just been in. "Gah, great auld windbag usin' tricks," he continued a bit, but all the while grinning. He was having a grand old time! Talk about a good way to bond.

Cordin's grin never wavered. He was about to pounce on Lark, who'd landed quite close, when somebeast tackled him from behind. He fell forward, but quickly caught himself, twisting to see who'd attacked him. He winced as his back made painful contact with the ground, but his grin returned when he recognized cadet Cade.
"Tallyho, chaps!" the younger soldier shouted. "Mind 'f I jolly well join you four?" Cordin grabbed Cade's upper arms and rolled over, pinning the younger hare beneath him.
"I dare say that all depends," the corporal answered. "On whether ye can bloody well keep up, wot?" He hopped to his feet and heaved Cade up, shoving him swiftly into Lark. "I say, Lark, ol' boy, meet my flippin' friend, Cade!"

"I say, Lark, ol' boy, meet my flippin' friend, Cade!"
"Flippin' is it?"
Saxifrage grinned, lunging to try to flip Cade over. Hey, Saxifrage was a hare who wanted to make his comrades happy! And what if Rasp felt left out with the focus on Lark? He reached out to flip the younger hare over too.
"An dinnae think I'm forgettin yeh, mah wee terror!"
Cade's entrance, of course, emboldened some of the other cadets. The impromptu wrestling match was in real danger of becoming a full-scale breakfast brawl.

Lark was fast to catch the fellow cadet, (and sadly probably made it easier for his uncle to attempt to flip the fellow. Whups). "Pleasure tae meet ye, laddie!" Full introductions can wait. No time with brawling and all that - at least not a proper one, anyway, and danced back as more cadets seemed willing to join, dancing out of the way of a tackle (and only laughed heartily as the lad would wind up tripping on Rasp who had been flipped by his uncle, who laughed as well and would move to make sure he was not going to get pinned by the Cadet to pin him instead. Ha!)
The twins were certainly not against a full-scale brawl. That just meant all the more fun and friends to make!

"Flippin' is it?"
Cade cried out as he was flipped, landing against Lark with an audible "Oof!" He was then jostled and shoved and maybe even flipped again as more hares joined in the fun. In a matter of moments, half the mess hall was alive with hares brawling, throwing food, and being scolded by the high-ranking officers.
Cordin could not control his laughter. He was managing to avoid being thoroughly clobbered by the chaos, but he was not in the thick of things without receiving his fair share of hits. "Sax, ol' boy, when's the last bloody time ye ever had this much bloomin' fun?" he called, grappling a cadet in a headlock.
((Meh, more short.))

"Sax, ol' boy, when's the last bloody time ye ever had this much bloomin' fun?"
"Th'last time we had a guid auld brawl in th'mess, mah auld lizard!" the giant hare crowed, all but roaring with laughter as he hefted up two cadets at once, cheerfully dumping them on two of their fellows before diving into the fray proper.
No this was a proper ater-meal exercise!
"An' how ur yeh farin' nephews?"
Lark and Rasp were his blood, after all. Ha, he would have to tell them about the trouble their mother stirred up as a maid!

As the brawling between just the five to more quickly joining in, the twins naturally gravitated towards one another. it was far easier to enjoy a larger brawl when you had someone watching your back, after all. Especially a brawl that seemed to keep growing in size as cadets were joining in. Of course they were getting their fair share of knocks as well, but it was all in good fun as they course they hollered and called out kind mockery as they went about.
"An' how ur yeh farin' nephews?"
"We're guid!" Lark called first, ducking a swing as he danced back towards Rasp who was handling his own.
"A lot larger a brawl than haem," Rasp began as he took moved to avoid the follow through the cadet Lark had managed to dodge had swung.
"But we can make dae! Ooch, guid throw there, laddie!" Lark finished up as a second cadet landed a blow on Rasp, Rasp quickly moving to return it, laughing once his footing was back.
"How about ye two?" Rasp rebounded with after his own throw connected, stepping back to his twin reflexively with a smile, calling to both uncle and corporal.
