(This is in Green Isle, I wasn't sure exactlly where it was located. It's in the Westren Sea.)
Green Isle was calm and peaceful as spring set n. The trees and flowers were budding. A soft breeze rustled through the new grass as it spouted from the ground. And birds were chirruping happily n the tree tops. All the calm serenity was broken as Torn Galedeep charged through the the woods dodging back and forth trying to lose his pursuers. Which were A flock of dibbuns hot on his tail. " Hurry we almost coughted im!" Shouted a young otter. " Hoho you ain't gonna catch me mateys! Cause I've reached the sea first!" With that he dove into the salty waters. He gave a mighty slap on the water with his rudder and waited. Soon several large heads appeared. “Gittawooomm haaaawwwwmmm.” The seals clapped there flippers joyfully. “Fillyawoaaaaam nugorraa omminsawlll Gitarraaa.” Torin replied. With that Torin leapt onto one of the seals. He waited till several of the dibbuns clamber onto one of the other ones. Once they were all on the seals they shot off through the water. After a few minutes of playing. The seals went under water with their passengers they were exploring the bottom of the ocean with the otters clinging on holding their breath. They were awed by the beauty of the coral.
They came back up a few minutes later to get air. Then they heard their parents calling them for lunch. They left the seals with many thanks, then dashed back home. When Torin finished lunch he to a short stroll. Then he went back to find an eager bunch of dibbuns waiting for their lesson. “ Can we swing Mista Tory?” “ Alright yes will teach you how to sling.” He said kindly. He spent the next hour showing the dibbuns how to sling.
After that he went into his Holt to get his javelins to practice. He went to the beach where he had a target set up. He threw the first one and it missed the target then he threw the next one and hit it right on. After a while of throwing his javelins he looked out to sea and saw something there. It was a ship! He took a closer loo to see what kind of ship. Then he saw the black flag with markings on it! It was a vermin ship! Torin grabbed up his javelin and ran as fast as he could back to his Holt to warn the others. He dashed to his Holt. “ Vermin ship!” He sad breathlessly as he burst into his Holt. “ Sound the alarm bell quickly!” Said his father. Torn raced to the center of the Holt's to where a bell stood. He rung hard and loud. There was an immediate response. Otters dropped what they were doing and rushed to the bell where Torn stood. “ There s a vermin ship coming!” He said. “ want all the young beast and the old taken away. All the stronger beasts stay here. We are gong to fight! We will not let our land be taken from us by vermin.” He gathered together all the younger beasts lie himself to fight his brother stayed and his father. His father was not old. He was still young and strong well not thaatt young but he was in his middle ages.
When all was ready and the dibbuns and old ones were escorted out of the Holt then the young otters all grouped together and discussed the oncoming battle.

Francesca Rose RiverHawk was sitting on a rock by the shore. It was a bright sunny day and the warm salt water waves lapped gently over her footpaws. She was basking in the rays of the afternoon sun she had her eyes closed and her paws crossed over her lap. She had off her fighting gear and had switched it for a simple pale green dress. It billowed gently in the wind.
Opening her eyes she glanced down at her gear. Her eyes widened as she saw the reflection of an enemy ship against the cold steel of her broadsword. Jumping up she threw on her belt and grabbed her broadsword. She looked out to sea and what she saw confirmed all suspicions. A large crudely designed pirate ship with a flag as dark and black as night. The thing was evil and cut silently through the water like a viper.
Muttering something to herself Fran turned swiftly on her heals and ran as fast as she could to her Holt and to her brothers. She called out the RiverHawk Fighters guild. And her father and uncle brought all their best warriors. The women took the children and kept them safe, while Fran's brothers geared up for battle.
Francesca heard a bell, obviously a warning to the beasts of the Isle. She ran to where the sound was coming from so she could congregate with the other warriors. There was a young otter there ringing the bell and many others standing around him. She pushed through the crowd till she got to him. "Excuse me?" she said tapping him on the shoulder, "What do I need to be doing? Do we have a plan?"

Torin looked down as he felt a tap on his shoulder, to see an ottermaid.
"Excuse me?" she said tapping him on the shoulder, "What do I need to be doing? Do we have a plan?"
" No I don't have a plan yet," he said. " But f you have any deas 'de be glad to hear them." When they had all their warriors together he spoke to them. " We must fight these vermin, if anybeast has a plan then let them speak." He said. His brother Ruso jumped up beside him onto the small platform. " I had a plan. We all hide in the trees and bushes till the vermin come and when they get near us we attack them. If some of us hide in the trees then they wont be able to reach us without climbing the trees. We have all the slingers and bowbeasts in the trees and the swordbeasts n the bushes. So when the slingers fire at them and the vermin try and get at them then the swordbeasts come out and attack them from the back and take them by surprise!" As he finished a scout came running up. " The vermin ship has almost reached land." he sad breathlessly " Good! Every beast in place. And don't let yourself be seen! Fire on my signal." With that the slingers and bowbeasts climbed up the trees and the swordbeasts hid in the bushes. Any passersby couldn't have told you there ever was a single otter there.

" No I don't have a plan yet," he said. " But f you have any deas 'de be glad to hear them."
Fran nodded, "Alright then." She looked up as more otters begin to arrive. When they were all there the young male otter spoke.
" We must fight these vermin, if anybeast has a plan then let them speak."
Another male otter jumped up on a platform and said...
" I had a plan. We all hide in the trees and bushes till the vermin come and when they get near us we attack them. If some of us hide in the trees then they wont be able to reach us without climbing the trees. We have all the slingers and bowbeasts in the trees and the swordbeasts n the bushes. So when the slingers fire at them and the vermin try and get at them then the swordbeasts come out and attack them from the back and take them by surprise!"
"I agree," said Frannie with a slight nod of her head. "It sounds like a secure plan."
An otter scout came up to the group. " The vermin ship has almost reached land."
They had to hurry if they wanted to save the island.
" Good! Every beast in place. And don't let yourself be seen! Fire on my signal."
She had never seen anybeasts move so fast. They rushed to their places with enthusiasm that could not be matched. Fran gathered up her brothers who were all trained swordsmen. They hid in the bushes with their eyes focused intently on the enemy. This was not the day that Green Isle was to be captured by vermin.

They had waited a good ten minutes when they heard voices. Torin ( Who with his brother and father was in the trees) saw them coming up the beach weapons bristling. They were only a shps length away now. There was an opening n the trees that you could see plainly to get to their Holt. The otters were on either side of this opening hiding. They vermin were close enough to see clearly now. They were a murderous bunch and had evil grins on their faces delighted at the prospect of getting plunder and killing. They were now very close to the opening, Torin glanced down at the otters hiding in the bushes. He saw the young ottermaid who had tapped hm on the should. When he looked back up the vermin were in the opening right between the otters.
Torin gave a piercing whistle. Which was the signal. A hail of sling stones and arrows rained down on the vermin catching them quit unawares. Some of them dived for cover and others the most of which ran at the trees and started climbing, still others had bows and strung them quickly and began firing at the trees. At that moment Torin gave another whistle. And then the swordbeasts jumped out of hiding and struck them from behind. All was chaos among the vermin. The battle raged on with the otters winning with the element of supirse o n their side.

At the distinct sound of the male otter's second whistle, Francesca and her fellow swordbeasts leaped from the undergrowth. The vermin struck hard and fast but the otters of Green Isle struck harder and faster. beating back the enemies, the otters drove them to the shoreline. The vermin were trapped with no where to go.
Fran fought her way over to the male otter whom she picked out from among the crowd. To her, it seemed like he was in charge of the operation. Gasping as she dodge an enemy spear she yelled to him over the melee. "What now! They're cornered but do we let them go, or do we kill them all off?"

Torin was letting off sling stones like a mad beast. He saw an otter fall from the tree transfixed with an arrow. He immediately hit the one who had sot the otter. The battle was gong well for the otters and they drove the vermin back to the waters edge. then again the young ottermaid came to him and said.
"What now! They're cornered but do we let them go, or do we kill them all off?"
Drive them back to their ship!" He sad we will let them sail away. we are not killers like they are . We are just defending our land!" Torin then drew his twin blades and charged the vermin. He fought madly and then the vermin began fleeing to their ship. One of the retreating vermin threw a spear and ht Torin n the side. He fell with a groan unnoticed by any other otters.

"Drive them back to their ship! We will let them sail away. We are not killers like they are . We are just defending our land!"
"I got it." She said will a quick nod of her head. She slashed at a vermin and ducked as an axeblade nearly took her head off. She wheeled around coming face to face with a vermin behind her. She fought him back.
Out of the corner of her eyes she saw an otter fall. That wasn't good. With a small shock she realized it was the otter she had just been talking to. Running over to him and dropping on one knee she lifted him up gently till his head was resting on her lap. Having ministered to her own illnesses she had done some stuff like this but not with something this big. She begin to work the spear out gently, just hoping she was doing the right thing. With a grimace she finally got it out and laid it to the side. It was deadly and sharp and it glinted with the innocent otter's blood. Only a wicked beast would use such a weapon.
She turned to him and yanked of the cloth sash she had tied around her dress. It was the only thing that she had on hand. She applied some herbs that she had in a small bottle to his wound, then tied it tightly with the cloth to help staunch the bloodflow. "Listen mate... you'll be fine." She whispered, hoping she was right. "Look." She said lifting his head up a bit, "We've almost won... It'll be over soon." She wished he could get him to somewhere safe but she didn't want to hurt him and she wasn't sure if he could lift him.

((Hi Rorgus and Christie/Bethy!!! Hope y'all don't mind if Mona pops in? )) Although the fight appeared to be in the paws of the Green Isle warriors, all was not as it seemed.... One of the vermin corsairs watched Torin Galedeep, the otter who appeared to be roaring out orders, fall down at a spear strike and Francesca RiverHawk run to his side. Having probably the one smart thought in his life, the vermin yelled for his comrades to rally to him. They were going to try for one last charge, hoping to over whelm the leaderless otters. However, just as the pirates yelled their war cry and tried a reverse charge, another war cry ripped through the spring morning air. The cry was louder than that of the pirates; much MUCH louder. The cry seemed to becoming form all sides. Bumbling around in confusion and fear, the vermin hopelessly tried to run back to their ship as scores of otters, all heavily armed and lusting for battle charged them from either side, all roaring the clans battle cry. EEEEEEEHHHHHHHHH AAAAAYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heading the massive otter armies was a formidable female otter, armed to the teeth and ready for war. High Queen Rhulain Mona Wildlough sprinted along side her kin, lance held high and sling spinning like a blur. Her silver and gold breastplate gleamed bright in the sun, blinding the vermin that soon fell before the deadly strokes of her weapons. Moving swiftly, Mona dispatched a few vermin who decided to be gutsy and try to face the High Queen. Mind completely within the fight, she turned quickly and signaled to another large otter, most likely a second in command. After a few quick gestures, Mona battled her way through the outer line of vermin and swiftly approached Francesca, holding the unconscious Torin. Kneeling down beside them, she looked over Torin's wounds. They were bad. He needed assistance now! Looking up into Francesca's blue eyes, Mona's baby-blue eyes twinkled from the gleam of her tiara. " Your friend needs to be moved and quickly. The fighting shall be over soon, but soon shall his life if he is not taken to shelter. We can both share his burden, but with much haste. Quickly now." Trying to be gentle as possible, Mona put her right paw under Torin's arm and grabbed one of is legs with the other. If Francesca did the same thing, they would be able to lift Torin up, caring him like he was sitting in a chair. Behind them, the battle began to weaken as the corsairs were chased on to their ship by thundering paws and "encouraged" to move quicker by arrows and slingstones that never missed their mark.

Kenyon caught Mo's gestures, he took a fresh grip on his javelin and nodded in agreement. She had spotted somebeast who needed help, he would take over here. Turning, he glanced around himself, gathering his otters and the Galedeep clan around him. They all knew him, and trusted his leadership.
"Get'm back t' their ship, mateys! No mercy for those remainin' on our shore!"
The company started walking inwards, until they surrounded the vermin on three sides. The only way left free was the sea! The vermin were the first to break and run, they were vastly outnumbered by the now running otters.
"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaledeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepp!" "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllldllllloooooooouuuuuuuughhhh!"
Kenyon dipped a rag in the sea and used it to wipe the blood off his javelin. Done, he tossed the rag back at its owner, a dead rat, and loped up the shore and inland to the Galedeep holt. He'd heard that Mona was there.
"Mo?" He asked, sticking his head in the room he was directed to.

Banyon had been on patrol when he heard the warning bell. He was just beginning to wane in his strength, but when he heard the bell he put on a fresh burst of speed. He was still a long way off, but thought he might could guess what was happening.
As he was running he saw a ship with what looked like black sails. He tried to remember what ship sailed with black sails, but couldn't. He had never been too good with facts. He knew he would have to keep running. He began to recognize the area he was in, and knew a part of his clan lived over this way.
He reached the beach, and was surprised to see the otter army in full regalia. He took his bow from his shoulder, but realized the battle was already won. He saw his queen huddled around a fallen otter. He rushed over, and realized the beast everyone was huddled around was Torin Galedeep, his kin. "Torin, what happened?"

Torin felt himself being picked up and carried. He felt a nice soft bed under hm and fell into a deep sleep.
Ruso who had been fighting alongside his father saw Torin being carried by the ottermaid who he had talked to, and another ottermaid. Who looked very much like a queen. He raced to his brothers side and followed them to their Holt. He was anxious for his brother and aksed f he was gong to be all right. And of course was shooed out of the Holt. He caught one glance at the wound in Torin's side and left looking very worried.

The Queen of the Isle, a very beautiful and stately otter, had just assisted Fran in getting the male otter back to the Galedeep Holt. Fran glanced back quickly and saw another otter, whom she recognized as the king, fighting back the vermin attackers. She left the battle in better conscience knowing more warriors had arrived.
Back at the holt Frannie waited restlessly at one end of the room. The wound didn't look good but things still had time to change for the better. Two more otters (she heard them being called Ruso and Banyon) arrived to check on Torin. Fran figured they must be kin of his. Ruso was shooed out of the holt, but Banyon stayed.
"Torin, what happened?" said the one called Banyon.
Fran answered for him. "He was helping to fight back the vermin when an ugly looking corsair rat hurled his spear into Torin's side. Torin has been holding out well but I don't know if he will for to much longer."

Mona assisted Francesca in carrying Torin safely back to his Holt, while leaving the warriors in under the command of Kenyon. As they carried him, Mona could feel him drift between unconsciousness and sleep.
Approaching the Holt, Mona and Francesca were escorted to a private room with a bed for Torin. After resting him on the bed, a healer came into the room and helped Mona attend to his wounds. Francesca backed out of the way and sat restlessly in the far corner of the room.
Mona watched as the healer otter properly bandaged Torin. While he did so, Mona held a whispered conversation with him. The wound indeed was bad, but if he had the strength, Torin could be up and running in a few weeks. The healer also told her that Torin's younger brother Ruso had been shooed away from the room looking very distressed. Mona nodded, and the healer dismissed himself.
Not long after the healer left, Kenyon popped his head in around the door.
"Mo?"
Getting up from Torin's side, Mona walked over to Kenyon and gave him a big hug. "Glad to see there's still somebeast who's in one piece. All the vermin taken care of?"
But before Kenyon could answer, young Banyon Galedeep rushed into the room and hurried over to the sleeping Torin's side.
"Torin, what happened?"
"He was helping to fight back the vermin when an ugly looking corsair rat hurled his spear into Torin's side. Torin has been holding out well but I don't know if he will for to much longer."
"But," Mona continued Francesca's thought."We can still have hope for a strong recovery, for I have yet to see a Galedeep give up on life so frivolously." She said as she walked over to him, and put a paw upon his shoulder. "Could you do something for me Banyon? Young Ruso, Torin's brother, is quite distressed over his brother's condition. As you are of the same clan, I'm sure you would do well in talking to him to comfort him until Torin's state is sure."

"Glad to see there's still somebeast who's in one piece. All the vermin taken care of?"
“Can’t get rid o’ me that easily, Mo.” Kenyon said easily, giving her a brief one-armed squeeze. “We’ve a few casualties but no fatalities.” His glance at Torin made clear his doubts as to whether or not that would continue to be the case. He waited in the doorway as Mona talked to the other young otters in the room, his feet planted solidly and his arms crossed.
"[…] …until Torin's state is sure."
“Ye might wanna talk t’ my crew, Mona. Someotter apparently saw ye carried off bleedin’ an’ missin’ several important appendages.” Kenyon rolled his eyes. Out on a training exercise with the newest Regimenters and what did they run into? A battle. And of course he had only a couple of experienced soldiers with him, the rest were all excitable youths, prone to believing any rumor.
“They don’t believe me,” He continued, “Think I’m delusional or oblivious or both.” As if he would refuse to believe the truth, just because it was Mona! He shook his head. “I ‘ope ‘e ‘eals.” He nodded brusquely at Torin, then turned and walked down the corridor and out of the holt.

"Aye, I could do that." Banyon breathed deeply a few times. He had to get himself together. It wouldn't do to show weakness, even if that's what he felt.
He wandered out toward the beach to find Ruso. The salty air had a strange odor about it. It was the smell of fear, and of blood. He hadn't had that smell fill him up in many a season. He watched for a moment as the waters carried the bodies out to the sea. He saw a lone figure hunched on the beach.
That has to be Ruso he thought.
He approached softly and sat down next to him. "hey cousin, tis me Banyon."

Ruso looked up as Banyon sat down next to him.
"hey cousin, tis me Banyon."
" Hello." He said heavily, " have you come to tell me Torin's going to die?" Tears sprung to his eyes at the thought of losing his brother.
Torin lay in his bed hovering near the gates of dark forest. He could see figures standing at the gate. They were telling him something, he could just make out the words. " Go away....you do not belong here, you have work to do.....there are beasts who need you go away." He heard them like an echo. He wanted to walk to then for they were friendly looking creatures. He tried walking closer to them but then he stopped and felt a jolt of pain. He turned back with tears in his eyes and started walking back.

The sea was calm with its slow waves moving the two beast paddle boat. It's passenger, an otter of average height with battle and labor hardened body. Being slightly wider, more broad and carrying extra mass; more than that of the average otter. Rex "Woodmaster" Irontail, quick of paw and intelligent in the art of carpentry. His blade, sheathed in it's beautifully crafted scabbard, laying beside him. He had his straw hat pushed frontwards, eyes closed, head resting on paws, and chewing on one of the hats pieces of straw.
Rex sat up, seeing the beach of the Green Isle, remembering how he got there. His thoughts rushed through his head, "Good thing I had this map with me and was close to this isle.. but too bad for the ship, we worked so hard on it, corsairs ruin everythin'.." The ships crew, captured, dead or evacuated to safety while Rex floated to this isle.
His boat slid into the shore. Rex stood up and stretched, ruffled his head-fur of eye length, strapped his sword to his back then stood on the sand. He took a big whiff of the fresh sea air, "Aye! I wonder where th' other beasts be, I hear this is where plenty of Otters stay!" speaking to himself, heavy with his southwestern accent mixed deep voice while looking around for life.

Ruso stood up and started walking along the shore. He spotted a small boat holding an otter. He rowed ashore and started looking around. Ruso went to greet him and tell him what had happened. He approached the otter and said " hello friend, who are you and where do you come from?" He inquired. He extended a paw. He quickly wiped a grimy paw across his tear stained face.
He sat down on the ground indicating a place for the other otter. "My name is Ruso by the way. I'll tell you what happened to this island." He then began to explain the war and about his brother.

"Well howdy partner, th' names Rex Irontail, I come from Mossflower wood, but I was born and raised in Redwall. I'm a traveling swordsman, master craftsman, carpenter and architect. I'm twenty nine years old now, middle of my days are 'round th' corner, ha." He said, shaking Ruso's paw and sitting next to him.
"Nice to meet ya Ruso. Our ship was captured and destroyed by searats, put up a good fight we did, jus' too many of 'em." Rex announced, tying his straw hat around his neck and brushing his long head-fur forward.
"You look like you be weepin' lad speak whats on yer mind." He listened in on his story.
