The skyline outside the large mountain of Salamandastron was still black, around midnight when the huge doors to the fortress's kitchens opened. A lean dark brown figure made it's way inside and heavy sniffing sounds could be heard.
The otter was a comical looking beast, clad in blues and reds with two large white leaves sticking out of a multi coloured jesters hat. he had a blue fiddle slung messily over his back as he searched blindly for something to eat.
He had just located the tray of scones meant for the following mornings breakfast when the overhead lights flared on and the huge doors slammed open. /the poor otter-hare stood dumbfounded, scone still in paw, frozen to his place and afraid to turn to see who had caught him.

Jillian Flickscut marched into the kitchen, the smell of fresh scones drifted to her nose. She turned to the direction of the food, hoping to catch a quick snack, and was surprised at what she saw. Salamandastron's infamous otter was hovering over the tray of scones with a wild look in his eye. Thinking quickly, she straightened up and bore her eyes into the otter, acting as if she had planned the whole thing.
"Well, wot do we 'ave here? A blinkin' scoff bandit, I indeed suppose! Wot do you 'ave to say for yerself sah?"
Jillian scrutinized the otter carefully. He looked quite foolish with his chosen garb, but no sillier than Jillian, clad in only a bright orange nightgown and cap. The two cut a strange sight in the kitchen that night, but none the less, Jillian remained as serious as possible as she waited for the otter to respond.

He knew that voice anywhere and it was his duty to reply. He dropped the scone, which clattered as it his the tray. His paw found his brow as he snapped into a smart salute. Without turning he replyed to the commander in a crisp voice. "Ahve Course noht marm! Aih was naut steelin' ze scoff, wot, on'y makin shure its bloody ok wot wot. No poihson, ye knew! Don't want any jolly ole hares droppin to the floohr 'n' stuff, Mahrm!"

After the hare was finished delivering his explanation, a knock on the front gate of the mountain drifted all the way up to the kitchens. It was not a repeated knock, just one heavy thump as if something just flopped against the doorway.

The otter's head turned towards the kitchen doors that led down to the main hallway. He looked back at the hare commander then raced out of the door and down to the Fortress's huge gates. "Who bloody goes thur, Wot!"

A cough could be heard, then a male voice spoke out, indicating an age of twenty-some from its owner. "Sethar Rheiuven..." He said, "I'm a traveler..."

The otter nodded and ran to the gatehouse ware he started to turn the gate-wheel. Though it was a tough job, he soon had the gate open far enough for the traveler to enter.

Grusso appeared behind the small figure, his blue eyes missing what stood infront of him. The great door that was the entrance to Salamandastron was being opened, and he intended to enter it. His massive chest bommed out as he bellowed " I am Gulo the Savage. Allow me entrance or I shall allow myself." He felt nostalgia creep in, and decided to chide it down abit.

Saki stopped when he heard another beast at the door and this one sounded big. And by his introduction 'The Savage' He wasn't sure if this would be a creature of help or hindrance. The otter thought quickly, a strong trait of his he used often and called out, "One minute please fine sir. I'm having trouble opening the gate. Let me just go find me some help!" He raced off, leaving a tiny crack in the doorway and ran off to find his Lord.
He raced through the mountain, making quick work of the hidden passages he knew so well and quickly made it to the Badger Lord's chambers. He nocked furiously on the door.

Jillian ran past Rakusagi to the gates, hearing a gruff voice from behind it. The voice obviously had to have been loud, for she heard it ring clear through her weak ears. She turned on her heels, and ran towards Lord Ashstripe's quarters.
"Mind if I join ye, wot wot?"
Without waiting for a reply from the otter, who was already banging on the door, she stood beside him and knocked hard with her boxing paw.

She winked at him, and turned back to the door.
"Lord Ashy must be sleepin' like a blinkin' log! That great 'ole lump of a badger won't even spare us a grunt! I say, ye lazy stripenose, get out here, we 'ave an emergency, wot wot!"
