Name: Terdan Riptail “Iron Hawk”
Gender: M
Age: 47
Species: River Otter
Occupation: Mossflower Ranger, Legend
Physical Appearance: Terdan has a fairly regular appearance for an otter. Terdan has some light graying though his fur though he remains mostly dark brown. As for clothing he wears a black cowboy hat and a light brown duster. Across his chest he wears two bandoliers loaded with tomahawks. For fast duels he uses a holster on his belt with a tomahawk placed handle pointing for a quick draw. This tomahawk he throws so it spins upside down.
Possessions:
Two crisscrossing bandoliers made for adder skin and loaded with tomahawks
A light brown oilskin duster made to protect from water and dust
A large black hat with a wide brim and several small silver ornaments on the hatband as well as several feathers in it.
An Adder skin belt and quick throw tomahawk holster for duels
X15 Lignum vitae (Iron Wood) handled, iron bladed tomahawks
A briar wood tobacco pipe which has seen better days
A large satchel that is full of a variety of day to day objects such as flint and steel, rations, and extra tomahawk handles for repairs
Personality:
Terdan has a cool personality that allows him to keep his wits about him in combat. He disdains many of the taller tails about him, but simply accepts this as praise from the beasts he protects. He prefers to range alone but will do whatever will accomplish his mission faster. He always tries to do what is right, but, will not hesitate to bend the rules on a case by case basis. Whenever a fight comes along, he prefers to show mercy on younger beasts that don’t know any better. Often opting to disable their weapons with his impressive marksmanship of the tomahawk.
Strengths:
Terdan is a master at the tomahawk, and most other throwing weapons
Terdan is a legend, with most dibbuns growing up on tall tales of him, and just about every Mossflower beast knows at least one story about him.
He is an expert at tracking and is able to decipher nearly any trail
Weaknesses:
Due to an old arrow wound in the knee his mobility suffers
His hero reputation puts him at risk anywhere near vermin
History:
One of the tall tales about him claims that ‘He was raised by adders’ but he actually grew up in the middle part of Mossflower with two, regular otter parents. He didn’t have a tragic childhood past whatsoever. Early on, his father instilled in him honor, duty, and skill with the tomahawk. He left his home at the age of sixteen to go traveling. He began to notice a marked rise in crime. He did what he could to help, but it wasn’t enough. It was at that point something changed in Terdan. He wouldn’t sit by and watch these beasts be oppressed by crime. He began to hang around dismal joints frequented by vermin. He started several fights and duels and began to rack up a status as a defender of justice. At this point goodbeasts began to gather together stories about him. More, and more the tales of him piled up until he was dueling a weasel one moment and fighting fifteen the next. He was soon proficient enough to back his reputation. He continually fought, and helped as many beasts as possible. He soon assumed the title of Mossflower Ranger and began to gather deputies to assist in maintaining order. As crime began to die down in the area, he began to assume his duties to all of Mossflower. He made many friends and many enemies in the process of maintaining order, and although he is semi retired, his name is still muttered darkly around vermin, and in tall tales by goodbeasts. Though he prefers to avoid fights these days, he will never pass up the opportunity to duel a criminal hoping to make it big by taking him down.
Relationships:
Father (Alive)
Mother(Alive)
Deputies (Some alive some dead)
Citizens of Mossflower
Other: Terdan was just an idea that I’ve been writing on and off for some time. So, he’s probably in need of a lot of correction!
