Name: Lorna Wildlash
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Species: Red Fox
Occupation: Captain of the Vixen's Compass
Physical Appearance:
Lorna is slightly taller than average, with a slim, dainty frame. Her fur is a dark rusty color from the tip of her muzzle, over her head and down her back to her white tail-tip. A long stripe of darker chestnut-rust-brown hairs trace along her spine to the base of her tail. Two additional stripes cross her shoulder blades to form a cross with the spinal stripe, seen on many of her kind. Long ‘stockings’ and ‘gloves’ of black fur are on all four of her paws. Her chin, throat, chest and belly are white, as is the tip of her tail. Her eyes are grey.
Lorna will often dress to emphasize her figure, but she’s practical about it. She spends a good deal of her time on board ship, and she’s not above climbing the rigging herself, so it is rare to see her in anything other than pants. Both her ears are pierced with gold earrings, and a gold spiral armband decorates her upper left arm.
She has two primary weapons, a cat-o-nine she has modified to contain shards of metal in its lashes, and a bullwhip. She also is proficient with daggers, but is rarely seen carrying a bladed weapon.
Possessions:
20 ft bullwhip
Catonine
Dagger
Some minor jewellery, clothes.
Personality:
Lorna could be considered educated, although she received her education on board ship and never attended any formal school. Her speech is often more refined than that of those who serve her, and her vocabulary is large, not excluding a vast supply of coarser words ladies simply do not speak. Of course, Lorna doesn’t let that stop her.
This thin veneer of civility hides the vicious, driven vixen underneath. Lorna knows exactly what she wants, and she knows exactly how to get it. There is very little she’s not willing to do. She is, above all, practical. She would rather wait a few months to gain her goal with less loss to her than charge in full bore and lose something important. Lorna is greedy and ambitious, but she knows the value of patience.
Her crew fears her, but remain loyal because they know she can be trusted to do her job, to do what she says she will do. She doesn’t leave her crew behind lightly, and she doesn’t treat disloyalty lightly. Despite stereotype and rumors, Lorna is not a coward. She prefers not to get her own paws dirty but is not hesitant to do so when necessary.
Strengths:
Ambitious
Loyalty
Patience
Her skill with her chosen weapon, the bullwhip
Speed
Weaknesses:
Greed
Distance Weapons
Although Lorna is stronger than her frame suggests, she could easily be overpowered by a bigger or stronger opponent.
Over-confidence
History: Born one wild night at sea, Lorna was the only child of two corsairs, Hood the Bold and Captain Rose Bloodtail. The addition of this third member of their family was their mistake.
Lorna's parents were in love, and a vicious love it was. They were the terror of the sea, wild pirates who sought gold and glory. Lorna learned at her parent's knees, absorbing the education she got from her genteel father and the bloody teachings of her mother.
Rose didn't accept or give quarter and she extended this knowledge to her daughter. Lorna learned to be ruthless in the art of war and in the running of a ship. Even as she learned where best to cut her opponent, she was learning from her fierce father just how to get whatever she wanted. She learned to read and figure as aids towards a goal, and it was he who taught her the values of loyalty and trust on a ship. Where violence may fail, these may be called on to rally the crew, driving them forward.
The couple made a diabolical team and they raised a diabolical child. Lorna was smart as a whip and just as bloodthirsty as her mother-- she just chose to hide it behind a veneer of her father's lessons. Lorna was participating in piracy by the time she was 14 and soon the deadly duo was a trio.
Unfortunately, sharing the plunder and reputation of her parents was not on Lorna's agenda. She was ambitious and knew exactly how to get what she wanted. It started with her father; battle is a confusing place and anything could happen. It was the work of one moment to ensure he wouldn't last out the battle; all she had to do was be just that little bit slower coming to his aid.
His death shook Rose to the core, she became more unstable and soon Lorna was rid of the unwanted presence of her mother as well. A storm had hit the ship and Rose was out on deck, challenging the weather. Lorna didn't even need to lift a paw for Rose hadn't secured her line and jumped off the side of the ship.
She was twenty, and the ship was hers. The crew was hers, the last living member of her family. For the most part they had watched her grow. She had charmed them, fought with them, fought for them. She could be trusted in battle and she looked out for her crew on shore. Any dissenters were put off at the next port-- which wasn't always land.
Six years later and Lorna’s Vixen is known and feared on the seas. She is well known as a looter, but what is equally well known is her captain’s price. Pay the right amount and she might be inclined to perform mercenary duties. The Vixen is not without her price.
Several months ago Lorna had the great fortune to run into a black rat on Sampetra Isle. He was drunk, rail-thin and raving about a lost treasure. At first dismissive, Lorna became intrigued as some of his ravings started to echo the tales of Desoto’s lost treasure. Buying the rat a drink, Lorna soon had him signed on her ship as Quarternaster and guide.
Now she’s after the treasure, and she intends to beat Stryker to it.
Relationships:
Stryker (Unknown) They haven’t met yet, but Lorna knows he is searching for Desoto’s treasure, and that makes him her enemy.
Cortez “Fleabait” the Quartermaster (Quartermaster and Guide) Lorna calls this skinny rat Fleabait despite his protests
