Name: Freya Shellpaw
Gender: Female
Age: 20 Years Old
Species: Sea Otter/River Mix
Occupation: Redwall Helper (kitchens, infirmary, plays with the Dibbuns)
Physical Appearance:
Freya has inherited neither the dark brown fur of her mother, or the lighter fur of her sea-otter father, but has instead inherited something in the middle, a warm, soft brown. A shade richer than her father's, but nowhere near as dark as her mother's. Her eyes are a pretty shade of honey-brown, and she has a distinctive patch of cream-colored fur along the edges of her ears. She also has three small dots evenly spaced just underneath her left eye, the same cream color as the fur along the rims of her ears. Freya's build is light, meant obviously for speed in water rather than strength, but she can hold her breath longer than even her sea-roving father can, a feat of which she is extremely proud of. She is of average height, but a petite build and weight, with a healthy stamina and flexibility, aided by her high energy levels. Her fur is smooth and soft, caught between the thicker fur of a sea-otter and the lighter fur of a river otter, she has, once again, displayed a happy medium, her fur tending to adjust as need be for each season.
{Clothing}
This ottermaid is content with wearing a thin white, ruffled blouse with a floating collar and finished edges of white lace, a feminine yet breathable shirt. When she thinks she can get away with it, Freya would rather wear a pair of loose-fitting, brown knee-breeches than a skirt, especially when she's helping in the orchards or out fishing with her father. Sometimes the frillier, fancier can be a bit of a hassle. When she does have to wear a skirt, however, it's usually a practical one, Freya compromising on it's simplicity by wearing one of a bright color, like emerald green or crimson. Over top this simple skirt, however, she will usually wear a light tan or white apron.

Despite having a preference for more masculine clothing than feminine, this ottermaid is extremely fortunate that it doesn't make her look more masculine than she'd like. Even though she's sporting a pair of breeches and a cavalier attitude, no beast can doubt her gender, what with her soft voice, alluring features and overall sense of gentility, her clothes are obviously the only truly masculine thing about her.
Overall, Freya has a picturesque look of a very pretty ottermaid, who knows not violence or pain or suffering of any kind, with a beautiful white water lily tucked behind her right ear and a soft-eyed gleam on her feminine face.
This...isn't quite the case, and the idea, “don't judge a book by it's cover” can easily apply here.
Possessions:
{Jewelry}
Freya is known to wear an intricate silver cuff-bracelet with a knot-pattern and an emerald green stone set in the center of it, as well as a silver necklace of a very similar design.

Apart from the jewelry, Freya carries a bright blue bandana that she's had for years, a long tear down the left side of it suggesting that there is another half out there somewhere, the image of a sailing ship split right down the center.
{Weapons}
As far as weapons go, Freya is a master at using the sling, and has learned just about all there is to possibly know about crafting them, using them and what kind of stones to use.
The nameless sling she carries is made of a black, braided wool, the pouch made from a dark gray leather, and the release cord is complexly braided to make it easier to hold.
Her chosen ammunition is usually small, oval-shaped stones from the river, but lately she's been making a few of her own from clay, which allow her better control over the size and weight of her slinging stones.
Years ago, when she first started learning how to use a sling, her father gave her a bag full of small, lead, bullet-like stones that had been forged on some unknown island prior to her birth. Not being much of a sling-beast himself, Thorsten gave them to her. However, because of the rarity of these lead projectiles, Freya is always hesitant to use them, despite them being the best she's ever had the pleasure of using.
Personality:
For the longest time, Freya has always been the model of obedience, doing as her parents tell her, never questioning, never doubting their word. She learned first hand what disobedience meant through her wild and jovial older brother Bruno, who always wanted to do the opposite of whatever their parents' wishes were. So while he played the charming rogue, she played the pretty, sensible maiden who knew better than to put a toe out of line simply because she could. After the loss of her brother, however, she has come out of the mold her parents have set for her, and has started to do things her own way, either in tribute to her brother or out of built up frustration. Though she respects her parents and their opinions, Freya strongly believes that there comes a time in every young otter's life where 'filial obedience' might have to take a backseat. Though she displeases her parents sometimes, Freya possesses an upbeat personality that's hard to bring down, her optimism the source of her strength and her courage when dealing with difficulties life happens to throw at her. Her chevalier attitude makes her a compassionate, strong-minded ottermaid who can't ignore a friend's plea for help, can't hold back her tongue when faced with immorality, and she certainly hasn't quite learned how to properly 'give up.'
She's a determined creature with a bit of a spark in her blood, Freya becoming known more and more for her mischief-making ways and vengeful retaliations to whatever poor beast has double-crossed her or her parents. What fuels her sudden bouts of bravery and recklessness is that firm belief that 'everything will turn out just fine, if I work hard enough', Freya thinking that if she puts in 120%, she's in the clear to have things turn out well in the end. For example, she's the kind of ottermaid who wants a small break from her chores on the weekend, so she puts in extra work the entire week, and soon enough somebeast who's noticed will often say to her, 'Freya, you've worked so hard this week, feel free to take it easy this weekend.'
If it doesn't turn out quite like that, she'll find a way to spin the situation in her favor, letting her optimistic point of view spill out in nearly any situation. One of her favorite mottos being, it could've been worse. No situation exists in her mind where things couldn't possibly get worse; there's always an upside.
Unfortunately for both of her parents, their little ottermaid has caught her father's wandering bug, that insatiable need to leave home with nary a glance over her shoulder and any idea as to when she'll be back. She has a thirst for adventure that nothing in that Abbey could quench, and now that she's grown up into an opinionated, determined, almost painfully optimistic creature, there isn't anything but the weather to possibly keep her there for much longer.
Freya has inherited her mother's sharpness, as well as her sharp tongue, not afraid to verbally lash out at someone she thinks is very much in the wrong, and though she's a beloved playmate to all dibbuns (her evil sea-rat voices are to die for), she has no qualms about scolding where scolding's needed. However, for every stern word and sharp eye, she can more often be seen with a smile and a warm, youthful gleam to her eyes, as well as all sorts of treats for dibbuns that she probably isn't allowed to give them...
It's gotten a bit difficult for her to become close with anyone, ever since the loss of her brother Bruno. She certainly has plenty of friends, though they are all held at a reasonable distance (except for the dibbuns, she can't hide much from their sweet, innocent little hearts), but in spite of this she is incredibly protective of each of them, wanting to enact vengeance upon all who do them harm. She values her friendships, even if she is, at present, still a little wary of letting anyone get as close to her as she was with her brother. Freya's secretly still keeping that spot open just in case he ever does make it back home.
