(I wanted to make Asther this type of bat, which lives in the Philippine rainforest. So I decided to make it as though she'd originally lived at a rainforest-y area and flown over to Mossflower. If there's a problem with this, just tell me. There's a Land of Ice and Snow, why not a land of rainforests?)

General--Possessions:
Asther is a pretty large bat; standing a little above the height of a fox, her wingspan easily reaches and often extends farther then that of most birds. The leathery membrane of her wings is a dark chocolate brown, almost black, matching the main part of her body. By contrast, her head is covered with light golden fur. Her eyes are an unremarkable hazelnut, and her face very closely matches that of a fox, with a thin narrowed muzzle and canine-like nose. Asther's ears are short and pointed, the same color as her wing membranes, but are somewhat smaller. The long, pointed claws on the tips of her wings are often used to grasp fruit for eating, but lately she's taken to using them as weapons. Strong and sharp, they can be used to cut into flesh and through skin. Her wings are torn slightly at some places, but she's still able to fly with them. Like all fruit bats, she possesses no tail.
Being a bat, and unable to carry weapons, Asther has nothing in the weapon department and she doesn't have anything else she wants to carry either.Personality:
Like most foxes, Asther usually allies herself with what most would call vermin; she works badly with woodlanders, because of their morals. She'd rather do anything it takes to win, using force and bloodshed if necessary, instead of only taking the peaceful way out like most woodlanders do. Asther is pretty ambitious, setting her sights pretty high, but she's not a traitor; if she's working with a vermin warlord towards a goal, she won't doublecross them, but she doesn't expect they'll give her the same respect. As a result, she's extremely wary of them, paying close attention to their movements and any gossip among the vermin ranks. As she's able to fly, she can be a big help to any army. Asther is actually quite polite for what someone would dub 'evil'; she has some sort of manners around woodlanders and doesn't immediately attack them. If it means winning, however, she's willing to kill anyone. She has a short temper, and can get irritated over even small things like misunderstandings or if someone doesn't quite hear what she's just said. She detests wildcats, and this is mainly because they killed her family.Strengths:
Weaknesses:
- Flight - Flying is obviously a giant help for her, allowing aerial survellance and scouting. It also allows her to cover a lot of land in a short time, as she's a much faster flyer then anyone could be while running. This also can allow her to stay out of range of weapons and if her reflexes are working well that day she can also dodge arrows in midflight.
History/Background:
- Morals - Asther will kill anyone in her way without regret - if they stand in between her and her objective, they'll have to die. This is bad because it has effectively dulled any sense of sadness she feels afterwards, and allows her to destroy any beast, even ones that could potentially be useful.
- Temper - Asther's temper can explode at any moment, even over little things. This is an obvious weakness, and it ties in with her morals, since this can easily let her kill someone even if she knows it isn't a good idea.
Asther originates from a faraway forested land, which she remembers to be constantly raining. Their home was dangerous, populated by giant snakes, other bats, and armies of wildcats, as well as other creatures. Even with such abundant predators, her family survived pretty well until an army attacked their home in the middle of the night (it was a tree) and burned it down. She was the only one to survive, as her family was either crushed by the remains of the tree or killed by wildcat arrows. She doesn't quite know how she managed to evade death, but eventually found herself above the thick forests of her home, and with nowhere to go, simply flew (gathering food as was needed) until one day found her at the edge of a massive expanse of ocean.Relationships:
The wildcat army who had killed her family was still at large. As an inexperienced fighter, it would do no good to stay in the rain-doused forests with plenty of predators waiting to kill her so for lack of a better idea, she decided to attempt a flight across a small part of the ocean in an effort to find a place without the predators she'd barely escaped.
She started out across the great stretch of water after a day or so of rest, and the next morning found her a small black speck against the blue of the ocean. So far, she hadn't found any place to rest, and was simply forced to keep going, pushing her endurance to the limit in an attempt to find a resting place. After three days of flight, there was still nothing to be found, and she probably would have died if a vermin ship hadn't appeared under her first. A split-second decision saw her landing on the mast of the ship, startling the single fox who was keeping watch for any land and sending him down the ladder to knock on the captain's cabin. For Asther's part, she simply watched as a tall black rat emerged and introduced himself to her as Norzun before asking her what she was doing on his ship. She explained, and he decided to allow her to stay on his ship if she helped them out when they reached their destination, Mossflower. She agreed, and when they finally hit land, she was sent to find a good place to camp.
Over the years, Asther helped Norzun and his steadily-growing army as best she could until he was killed by one of his hordebeasts and they took over his place. Without any respect for this new leader, Asther simply killed him before leaving the group - since then, she's been wandering Mossflower.
