Name: Dhari the Wanderer
Gender: Female
Age: 32 years old.
Species: Squirrel
Occupation: Mostly just wanders, and she used to play the Squirrelino.
Physical Appearance: Dhari isn't the prettiest squirrelmaid in the woods, although she does have her perks. Her most redeeming feature are her large green eyes, which are hard and fiery most of the time. Her fur is fairly dark, an almost burnt red. She has broad shoulders, but is so skinny that you can count her ribs. Her tail is not unusually bushy, but she is proud of it and keeps it fluffy and free of debris. The most memorable thing about her is that she is missing her index finger--it's shorn completely off. She's fairly short, and her fur is really thin around her wrists and ankles. She wears a woven belt and a light-green tunic.
Possessions: Dhari's most prized possession is her sling, which was her uncle's. She also carries a travelling staff, which she'll occasionally use to beat the head of any vermin who's stupid enough to get in her way. Other than that she has only a haversack to keep vittles in. Hidden away in her pack is her squirrelino (like a mandolin), which she hasn't played since she lost a finger.
Personality: The biggest thing about Dhari is that she is very grumpy and defensive. It takes everyone a while to earn her trust, and there's probably only three or four beasts who can ever say that they were/are her friend. She doesn't like to talk much, but is a good listener. There are several subjects for her that are touchy to talk about, so she'll sudden stop talking or quickly change the subject when a conversation rolls around to those.
Strengths: She is very good with a sling, and used to be able to play the squirrelino until she lost her finger. She's very strong, but not as strong as when she's well-fed (which she usually isn't).
Weaknesses: She can't get along with anyone, she even fights with her friends. Most of her replies are short and snappy. She won't judge people before she gets to know them, but once she does, she has a very set idea in her mind of what they are like and won't change it for anything. Although she has a good sense of right and wrong, she won't risk her life for just anyone and will do anything to make sure that she's safe.
History: Dhari lived with her large family of mother, father, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents until she was fifteen. Her uncle taught her how to play the squirrelino and use a sling, and she was very good at both. When she was fifteen, a band of vermin invaded their large treehouse and burned it. Only she and her older cousin survived. She was forced to play her squirrelino for the band's enjoyment, and her older cousin was their slave. She and her cousin (a male) lived like this for ten years. They became very close and depended on each other to stay out of the vermin's rage. One day, Dhari's cousin accidentally burned some food. When he was beaten, he fought back and was killed. Dhari, in a fit of rage, took a sword and killed the entire band--losing her index finger in the process. Once she realized what she had done, she drew inward and refused to ever get close to anyone else again. She also was desolate, since she couldn't play her squirrelino. She's been wanderer ever since. One day, while she was in the woods, she stumbled upon a mouse named Barktail who had twisted his ankle in a hole and couldn't get up. She helped him home and cared for his ankle. His personality is so like hers that she took to him and they've been friends ever since.
Relationships: All of Dhari's living family are dead, but she has a friend, Barktail the mouse.
Other: This is my first character on here, so feel free to correct me if I get anything wrong!!
