Name: Brath Darkeye
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Species: Sparrow
Occupation: Flyer (message-running, scout-work)
Physical Appearance:
Brath is remarkably small for her age and species. Her markings are crisp and lighter than most, a dusty dun color. She has large eyes, bright and dark, which are highlighted by her pale eye-stripe. Neither claws nor beak are scraped with fighting, a mark of her age and relatively peaceful trade. In an attempt to make a good impression on possible employers she keeps herself clean and her feathers neat, though when she is not looking for work they are wind-ruffled.
Possessions
Her "nest" is made up of a worn blanket, kindly donated by Redwall's infirmary keeper. Around it are scattered various flowers, pebbles, and other colorful tiny things she has found in Mossflower. Fleabane, lavender, and sprigs of a few other plants are tucked into the folds of her bed to keep out parasites and musty smells.
Brath carries a small pouch on her everywhere she goes. This holds any necessary messages, food, and whatever else she needs to carry.
Personality:
Brath loves to fly and she loves to be around other beasts, making her perfectly suited for her work. She is perky and attentive, seeming to have a bottomless store of cheerfulness and energy. She is proud, too proud to accept Redwall's offer to take her in, or even allow herself to count on it for food and such.
Strengths:
[/li][li] Brath is perceptive: she notices the smallest signs, whether they indicate a change in weather or a beast's reaction.
[/li][li] She has excellent aerial skills, being agile and quick on the wing.
[/li][li] Any beast who sets out to dampen her mood has set themselves a difficult task, and on the rare occasion that she is down she will cheer up again at the smallest thing.
Weaknesses:
[/li][li] Brath is naive and inexperienced; she often makes judgments which are poorly thought through or impractical.
[/li][li] She has virtually no skills in defending herself or using a weapon. Her only means of surviving a conflict is to avoid it.
[/li][li] She is co completely uneducated: she cannot read or write, and can do only the simplest math.
History:
Brath's father died, before she had even hatched, when he was caught in an ice storm during a message-run. Her mother, Kere, then raised her and her brother, Mytt, until she was twelve. Her mother grew sick during the summer before dying late that auttumn, despite the efforts of Redwall's infirmary keeper. At that point the two siblings came to an agreement and Mytt, who was older, moved away and married, while Brath began working her father's old trade as a flyer with the knowledge that if she became desperate she could always go to her brother or Redwall. However, she far preferred to be independent, and when Redwall offered to take her in, she refused. Despite the fact that her home in the abbey's rafter technically mean she lives in Redwall, she does not call herself a Redwaller and acts like a guest coming in for a visit every time she stops by.
Relationships:
Mytt, still visits her frequently, and she knows she is free to stop by his home in Mossflower whenever she likes. She is friendly, if not so close, with Mytt's wife, Ruis.
Brath considers herself a friend to most of Redwall, though she hates to rely on it for food, shelter, or other necessities.
Other:
I did not include clothing in my Appearance description because birds in Redwall do not appear to wear it, but if you prefer, I am more than willing to add that in.
