Name: Sonoma
-she never knew her middle or last name and by the time she was 7 years old, nobeast who did was alive.-
Gender: Female
Age: 32
Species: Sea Otter
Occupation: Skipper of Otters
Physical Appearance: Sonoma is a sea otter who is just above average otter height. She has fur that can only be matched in color by the waters of a peaceful freshwater lake. Sonoma has bright, green-turquoise eyes which glisten beautifully when she is submerged under water. But this is also why whenever she is trying to move unnoticed under water, she swims with her eyes closed as having them open always giver away her position. She also has long hazel eyelashes. And though she doesn’t flutter them often, they do get a bit of a work out whenever Williams is around…more on him later.
For all of her appeal, Sonoma is also noticeably nobeast’s push over. Her arms rough, made strong by her sinew of muscles, which enhance whenever she fists her paws. Her legs have a more toned muscle mass, every day she works them out, she gets closer to her goal of being able to move as fast on land as she does in water. Sonoma wears an aqua blue cloak over a hazel brown shirt and long skirt. Her cloak is belted at her waist by a belt given to her by her mother.
Possessions: Sonoma has a thick oak staff which she wears hidden behind her cloak. At one end of the staff is a sharp, rock spear tip. For most, it is hard to tell where the wood ends and rock starts as the rock is and oak brown, perfectly blending into the wooden staff and undetectable to unknowing eyes. Sonoma also carries a sling, and though she finds a good throw of her rock spear tip more effective, she is well skilled in the art of the sling.
Personality: Sonoma is a level headed otter who is fair and just. Sonoma is a humble leader who eagerly learns from both her mistakes and those of others.
The only anger that Sonoma has ever had is righteous fury, she does not get angry over pointless things, and can always see the bright side (or the way out) of just about every bad situation she can get into.
Though Sonoma loves children, she has not had any of her own; for most of her life, love remained something in the back of her mind. Not because she was trying to block it, or did not want to love; it just always remained last in her list of priorities. -though things do not remain this way forever.
Strengths: Sonoma is fair, a good fighter, great with tactics and strategics, she also really loves children and befriending and helping beasts who otherwise could not help themselves.
Weaknesses: Sonoma can sometimes have a stubborn doggedness to do certain tasks; a sort of never give up mentality that she can take too far. When it comes to the safety of others, she is smart, whitey, and extremely prudent and intelligent; but when it comes solely to her safety, she is willing to sacrifice herself for others, even if there's nothing she can do to help.
History: From the time Sonoma was born, to her sixth birthday, she lived a happy life in the cold northern territories far outside of Mossflower. Her and her parents lived in an otter tribe known as the Averarr. Her father was one of the tribe war captains and her mother was a healer. Though the north was not a plenteous land, the Averarr tribe was happy, as are most beasts when among the ones they love. While just born, Sonoma was prophesied over by an old mouse named Luke Nitram. From this her parents knew that she was born for greatness and she would one day lead her own otter clan.
One day, while in the midst war, the Skipper of the tribe was killed. Sonoma’s father set out on a mission to personally hunt down the escaped sea rat vermin who had done it. He returned with all of the vermin’s claws, a tradition of their tribe for one who was restoring honor to a friend killed in battle.
Sonoma’s father had came back to see her walking, and just in time to hear her first words on her second birth day. He also came back to a Skipperless otter clan, who made him their chieftain and Skipper. But their was an otter who did not like this decision one who had been second to the prior chief and thought that the role of Skipper was rightfully his. This otter gathered others to him, winning over a third of the otter clan.
Throughout to Sonoma’s sixth birthday, the tribe was in constant argument between those who followed her father and those who followed the other otter. But through this, Sonoma’s father was always able to use his gift of speech to bring some peace to the tribe, and return order when war was about to break out.
One day however, the revolting sea otter rallied those with him, and attacked all of those following Sonoma during cover of night. Half of those following her father were killed before they could even lift arms, including women and children. Her father put her into a barrel to hide while he fought, and searched for his wife.
As Sonoma listened to the sounds of war going on all around her, she could hear less of the rebel otter and more of the voices of otters who she knew as friends to her father, they were winning. But the rebel otter was all too prepared. Calling a retreat, he sent bags of poisonous powder into the camp fire, making an explosion of poisonous gas, killing her parents and all others on first breath.
As the smoke reached the barrel Sonoma was in, she felt two shaking paws grab her and yank her from the barrel. She looked up to see an old mouse carrying her as he ran. She could not tell who he was, but knew she could trust him. Luke took Sonoma to her grand-aunt, who lived not that far from the camp site. The old warrior mouse went back and slew all of the rebel otters. But their leader had escaped from him, as he watched the evil sea otter sail of on boat, he yelled out that if he ever saw him again, he would give him such a gruesome death
as not to be described here.
Fleeing for his life, the evil sea otter ran his ship amuck on an island, he sought to change his identity as to keep the old mouse from noticing him if ever they met again. Carving out molds from rock, he locked them around his face and mid body, as the days went on, his body took on the partial form of the molds. He also changed his name…to Breekane.
Sonoma lived with her Grand-aunt until she died, somewhere around when Sonoma was fifteen. After giving her ‘mammy’ a descent burial. Sonoma set off alone, traveling the dangerous planes, making friend, meeting foes, and learning the art of war, protection, and disguise. She began to make a name for herself. All goodbeasts knew that whenever there was vermin about to call for the young warrior ottermaid.
Soon she became too much of a threat for vermin in the area, and they fled. One day a new sea rat crew came aground, bountybeasts with the sole task of getting Sonoma’s head. Day after day they tried and failed to capture Sonoma, their numbers draining like a lake with an open plug in its bottom. One day however, a scout from the sea rat crew found out a little of Sonoma’s past, and that the belt she wore, made her feel somewhat connected to her long gone mother. The sea rat was able to steal it from her another day as she fought the vermin crew. When she found out, Sonoma came at the crew full force, laying out rows of rats, she fought to regain the only remembrance of her parents she had, the only thing in the world that gave her some sort of peace. But the vermin had their plan perfectly laid out.
They trapped and captured Sonoma, taking her as a slave to bring back to whoever was paying her bounty. One day, Sonoma and a friend she had made aboard the vermin ship, an otter named Trake, freed themselves and the others held captive they fought against and slew every one of the vermin rats.
Most of those on board were also warriors or other goodbeasts with bounties on their heads who had been taken away from home and family. Sonoma and Trake, the only ones with out any homes, steered the ship this way and that, dropping of those aboard to their homes and loved ones.
Once the task was done, Sonoma and Trake boarded the ship somewhere in the northern lands. Once there they saved many otters and goodbeasts from vermin and invading sea rats. During this time, she being around 27 years, Sonoma led the otters to peace and prosperity. They all pledged themselves to follow her, and thus her clan was born. One day they set sail of greener pastures and even more plentiful land and you know what happens then. –read Elip’s bios-
A tad bit of Sonoma’s Future: One day, while caught in a storm out on sea, Sonoma, at 34 years, and her clan are blown far out north to the land they had once called home. While on land searching for supplies, Sonoma and her clan found that they were not the only crew on the island. Upon coming back to shore they found themselves surrounded by a huge rat tribe.
Just as her tribe was about to meet its doom, something happened, the rats fell like once standing twigs in a thunderstorm. A burly male otter was among the rats, with bow and arrow, striking then disappearing, dealing massive losses to the vermin tribe. This otter had also gathered Sonoma’s clan’s weapons, once with their weapons, Sonoma led her clan to defeat the rat tribe. Sonoma looked to who she thought to be a verra handsome otter, his name was Williams.
Relationships: Trake, Williams, Amber, Trayz, the whole of her otter clan, Elip, Whoolay, Heartrig S. Quire, Cregga Roseyes,
