Hideing In My Sleep.

[Recu Foxer]

Recu was down in the cellars, hiding from the Dibbons. In truth, he knew he shouldn’t have picked such a hard to find hiding spot, but it was the only way he could get in a nap.

So he was there now, curled up like any fox would be, snoozing happily in the corner.

"Hmmm..." Aeorys prowled through the cool subterranean interior, a few giggling Dibbuns, who'd tired of searching for their sneaky fox playmate, trailing behind her. "Shhh," She held a claw to her lips, hushing them as they sought Recu amongst the barrel-strewn cellars. It was difficult to smell clearly down here, and the dust tickled the nose of the white she-wolf. Scrunching her snout, she rubbed at it with a paw, though to not avail.

"WACHOOO!" A might sneeze exploded and echoed throughout the cellars.

[Marian the Badger]

Marian had been down in the cellars checking the cheeses they had made earlier that season. She sliced several wedges for the Friar and tucked them in one paw. Making her way back towards the stairs, she paused as a mighty sneeze echoed around. Spotting Aeorys and the dibbuns crowding 'round her, the kindly badger smiled and waved.

"Hullo young ones, Aeorys. What are you doing down here?"

Recu was startled awake by a loud sneeze, which echoed around the cellars. It was followed closely by giggles of Dibbons. Rubbing his eyes, the librarian stood, stretching and fluffing out his fur. What time was it? There were voices, and he went toward them.

“Thrr ‘e is!” A mole babe cried out, pointing. Instantly, there was a wave of Dibbons crashing into Recu.

“Oh! Ye found I!” He laughed from the floor.

The snowy wolf sniffed, wiping her nose with the back of a paw. She could not help but chuckle as the little ones offered 'bless yous' between fits of laughter after they recovered from their initial shock. "Thankees, liddle mates, I do feel blessed!"

"Hullo young ones, Aeorys. What are you doing down here?"

"Ahoy, Miz Marian, didn't 'spect ye t'be down 'ere. Gettin' cheeses fer dinner, I see? Me'n' me mates're lookin' fer Recu - ye seen 'im?"

“Thrr ‘e is!” A mole babe cried out, pointing. Instantly, there was a wave of Dibbons crashing into Recu.

"Oh ho! So 'e was 'ere all along! I told ye 'e'd be 'ere, didn't I?" But her words were lost in the midst of their merriment.

"Recu, playing 'hide and seek' are we?" Marian said, a smiled dancing on her snout. "We're having cheese and celery flans tonight." She said in answer to Aeorys's comment.

A dibbun squirrel nicked one of the cheese corners in Marian's paws, and she looked down at him. "Hoy, Skaddle, those are for dinner. Tell you what, let's all have a snack of cheese. Let me set these down over here, and we'll sample my almond and chive cheddar."

Shifting some of the Dibbons off of him, Recu sniffed the air.

“Chive? I love chive, yes. And hide and seek, ‘tis a wonderful game, isn’t it?” he looked at the little ones that nodded in agreement.

“Aeorys led ye down here yes? How does she know all of mon hideth places? What is for yon dinner?”

The she-wolf snickered. " 'Cos I hided meself 'ere loads o' times afore!" She paused, face breaking into a great, toothy grin. "Ooh, ooh! With strawb'rry cordial, aye? S'me favourite stuff, 'tis!" piped the eager Aeo, very Dibbunlike herself when it all came down to it. "I'll fetch us a liddle 'arf barrel for a table, wot say? Ye buckoes split th' cheeses, an' I'll find us some prime drink!"

"Here we go, gather 'round all creatures," Marian padded over to the cheese shelves and picked up a thin wire. Looping it around a whiteish-orange cheese round, she neatly sliced off a large portion and brought it back to where the dibbuns and Recu were waiting.

"All right, no grabbing young'uns. Let's see how this turned out." She seated herself on a nearby barrel and handed out a slice to each creature.

Taking a bite of her own slice, she savored the light flavors and tart cheddar taste. "Mmmm, this is prime stuff. What do you think?

Mouth watering, Recu waited for his, and took a bite out of it when he received it. Flavor exploded everywhere!

“Marian, ye have outdone yeself this time. ‘Tis the best yet, yes!”
